We are living out our dream of traveling full time in a Ford Transit van we built ourselves. We've been on the road for over a year and have explored most of the USA and Canada. Follow along as we head south of the border into Mexico and make the epic journey all the way down to Patagonia!

Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? What the Mexican Government does not tell you is that when they refund your deposit back to your CC, they will refund you the amount in Mexican pesos at whatever the exchange rate is when you cancel your temp vehicle permit . So that means that we get ripped off for another $35 to $55 that they keep because we do not get the same dollar amount back to our CC that we leave as a deposit 🙄
San Miguel de Allende is a huge dissapointment when it comes to street food. Also, due to climate change the weather has gotten much hotter and drought is a real problem. May, June are unbearably hot and there seems to be NO airconditioning anywhere. Yes, the fireworks and M-80's going off ALL OF THE TIME is off the charts compared to Oaxaca City, Mexico City, Merida and other areas of Mexico.
So we ended up leaving Bacalar for Mahajual. But those damn ants, the damn ants, they're relentless. Great snorkeling in Mahajual. Best Bacalar spot for me was Alitas Bacalar for the best wings I ever had in my whole life.
That's the biggest freezer in a front opening refrigerator I have ever seen. I want to do meap prep and that wouldhelp. I may go with that one insteadof a chest style refrigerator.
If you're doing only a day trip, I think it's worth it. Otherwise it's a lot of driving. I think we would have liked to just drive out there and camp out near the ruins. I know there are accommodations out there as well, so that might be even better... More time for everything ☺️ Driving in the Yucatan peninsula is super easy, big nice roads. The cops can be a pain with asking for bribes, but nothing unmanageable. The rest of Mexico is not as great of roads but still a great drive all around! Loved it
OK. I just got back from SMA. One of those cities to get lost through the old, narrow and charming streets. To go cheap, 1 full day is enough. With money to go to top hotels, restaurants, rooftops, explore the shops & galleries, 3-more days.

Yeah I don't think I'm planning a vacation driving across Mexico any time soon. There is enough amazing stuff to see in the USA and other non third world countries lol.
Probably money last longer in third world countries 😂, 4k or 6k can take you a few months of adventures down there compare to America which I would rather do too 😅
It's fabulous, would you do a partial build? And just replicate some of it, or much of it, with a few minor modifications, like a stainless steel sink instead? I Love the flairs, upgraded suspension, so much of it. I would love to do this, but I'm in Hawaii. If I can figure out the van--I want the Ford Transit as well because I'm tall. I am working out a lot of things right now. The issue for me is there's no parking here at my condo. But 99% of what I need, new or lightly used, is all here. I could ship the van to San Diego, or buy there, which maybe you could assist me with. The whole thing is akward, but we could do zoom, or you could come to Hawaii as my guests, to do the design. If I set up a storage unit there, I could ship the things I'm retaining. After I get the van there. You did a great job and that's what I'd need, because I'd want to sell my Photography out of the van. I would love to dicsuss. Have fun, stay safe, listen to her gut instincts and yours,lol no lmmediate rush . I am coming up with many creative ideas. I also used to Organize Houses, etc. And have, a wide range of skill sets.
