The National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded by breast cancer survivor Janelle Hail, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34. As a result of early detection, she survived the disease and has devoted her life to educate women about early detection and provide free mammograms for women who could not afford them.
The VA hospital misdiagnosed from biopsy findings of Left breast lobular hyperplasia Radiology md said suspicious mass excision but breast surgeon declared differently for short term 6 mth F/U n she went on maternity leave! From 9/23/21 to 5/22/22 I lost 65 lbs UNINTENTIONALLY VA Mammogram tech dept said I wasn’t eligible for another Bilateral Diagnostic until June 2023!! Then 7/2022 I found masses in my R breast!!! Hell I jumped ship and used my Medicare and consulted Cleveland Clinic cancer team. CCF did R breast surgery 12/20/22 that the VA decided against not eligible for services. CCF s/t 6 mth f/u secured all VA mammo records pathology glass slides etc… Tumor board analysis reveals 5/28/23 Left Breast Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Stage iiiC. 9/7/23 F/U CCF surgeon told me I had breast cancer from the beginning of 9/23/21 misdiagnosed biopsy. 1/3/24 Left breast surgery not good-Left axilla 15 malignant lymph nodes, three L breast malignant tumours and one sub-pectoral malignant mass. 2/13-7/31/24 Weekly chemotherapy. Side effects neuropathy both feet, deep fishers in joints fingers digits. many rashes lower buttocks raw draining. Nausea hair loss etc etc… So where does that leave me? It takes an ACT of GOD to pursue medical malpractice against VA .. legal indemnity to sue va medical doctors or hospital- what’s my future look like!?!? Fighting for my life at this date 9/21/24 Standing TALL THRU IT ALL!! Justice will prevail- nothing happens in this life by chance- it’s a matter of pursuing what is right as Negligence MisDiagnosed malpractice…those who denied me a QUALITY of CARE … THEY SHALL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!! I may not be alive cuz could be > 6 year litigious adventures.. it’s NOT ABOUT MONEY- ITS THE ETHICAL ISSUES…huh-! found info about probable CAP FINANCIAL SETTLEMENT might only be $387,000 for my life or attorneys least expected CAP - maybe NOT WORTH FIRMS filing as costs would be prohibitive for law firm to pursue!! GET THAT!! What’s wrong with our legal system-it’s ALL ABOUT MONEY to them. Not the value of a life!!! 😢
I loved your story Gigi! I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in my right breast & just found out around the 8th of September. To hear all the things you were saying sounding so much like me! I couldn’t stop listening to you. I’m so sorry you didn’t have your Mother all these years to be there for you but you Found Hope & Faith!! I’m trying, thru my best & closest friends, to grab a hold of Faith, from my Jesus Christ that never will leave us, but I’m trying also to doubt if Jesus is with me! I feel guilty about not being in church & I wonder if I’m being punished for that & somehow the guilt is blocking my Faith! I would appreciate your prayers for me; it’s mentally breaking me because I’m saved & know Jesus but feel like I can’t feel him with me thru this. Just been diagnosed about to get both breast removed dcis on the left breast didn't have any sign of lumps still trying to understand the whole thing but have a good spirit of the think waiting for the operation date then the healing begin was told no chemo or radiation but that can change hope I'm making the right decision
I am so glad you're doing well, and Praise God, it continues on that path. If I was a younger woman, I would go the chemo route, but at my age, I think I'd just let the disease take me and have some quality rather than quantity. My mom had stage 4 lung cancer that had spread. Her docs suggested we just keep her comfortable, she didn't have long (6 months was the ceiling), and give her the quality of life rather than a few more months. They told us there's 3 kinds of lung cancer, with 1 being very treatable, one that's treatable but tougher to beat, and the 3rd kind, what she had, couldn't be solved with surgery and the odds that chemo and radiation would work were low. They said "Why prolong her life by a few months, being sick from the treatment the entire time? How about we keep her as pain free as possible and let her enjoy her grand kids". They were right, and that's what our family decided.
I was just diagnosed, at age 63, with invasive ductal carcinoma. This is the same cancer (though they called it infiltrating and not invasive back then) that killed my beautiful identical twin. I knew 20 years ago, when she was diagnosed that my turn would come. Don't ask me how I knew. Maybe because we were twins, I don't know. But a mammogram caught my cancer early, when it was too small to even be felt. It would probably have to triple in size for me to feel it. I'm seeing my surgeon for the first time tomorrow and am very scared. But just like Gigi, I'm a woman of faith. I'm so grateful it was caught early, but I know I will have to go on a journey, the same journey most women go on if they want a fighting chance. This cancer isn't going to kill me like it did my sister. I still have her journals and when I need to be encouraged, I'll read her words, raw emotions and all as she realized she was dying. I pray for all of us who are on this journey and if anyone wants to be "breast friends", I'm available lol.

This really made me cry 😭 I went to the Er yesterday and they had to make sure a blood clot wasn't going to my heart . They found out I have a 1in nuldge in my left breast and need to get an ultrasound bc it may be cancer 😢

I had to advocate for myself. Two week wait for ultrasound. Mammogram. Called for any cancellations, got in a week. 1 week wait for biopsy. Diagnosed with IDC. 1 month wait for BREAST MRI, called for any cancellations, got in the next day. 1 month wait to speak to surgeon for follow up after MRI. Call the two offices he works in for cancellations, got an appointment for 2 weeks. That’s where I am. She is lucky to have connections. Most people don’t.
I just was diagnosed 5 days ago. I’m 38 and have two kids. I am so scared 😭. I haven’t found out what the treatment plan I’m going to go through. I am trying to stay positive. Glad I found this video ❤

Thanks for sharing your story. The beginning can be so frustrating! When your body is trying to tell you something but test show nothing. Difficulty is with insurance allowing multiple test/opinions. My process has just begun with a small cyst like lump (pea size) and underarm pain. Your story is inspiring. I wish you many more years of NEG results.
Thank you for sharing your story. I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at 36 and I’m currently fully responding to treatment. I NEEDED to hear it’s possible to live and that I could possibly see my young children drive, first heart break, maybe get married and all those wonderful and not so wonderful life moments. I SO badly want to live and be here for them. You’ve given me hope and you’re right.. nobody knows.

I had exactly the same diagnosis last June,1 lumpectomy then single right mastectomy 6 sessions of chemotherapy and 15 radiotherapy sessions. It's lovely to listen about your journey thank you for sharing l needed that.❤
I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma ER/PR negative Her2 positive stage 2. I’m on my second round of TCHP as of July 3rd 2024. I’m 36 years old and found the lump myself and it had spread to my lymph nodes.

God bless GiGi. You’re 💯 right, we all need to push and be our own advocates. My tumor was never found on a mammogram, even the diagnostic one 2 months before my surgery was clear. I am a thyroid cancer survivor who still has evidence of something lingering, so I am on surveillance every 6 to 9 months. My IDC was found on a pet scan. I I had a great team at UNC in North Carolina that didn’t just take the mammogram results but went through all of the testing pretty quickly. I was assured this is most likely nothing. After my biopsy, I kept a close eye out for the test results on the patient portal. It was that Friday that I saw the results that it was positive for cancer. Fast forward, I already had my surgery for estrogen and progesterone positive, her2 negative tumor and I’m starting radiation in 2 weeks.
I just had surgery 3 weeks ago. I was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma Insitu. No family history, overall healthy It's very scary. I'm healing now , I will start radiation in a couple weeks. Very scary 😢
Gigi , we have a similar experience . It was also a Friday . I was also brushed off during the pandemic . But you charged on , while I believed the doctor . She said it was just a muscle
I also did not smoke , not an alcoholic , did not party . Tried to be a good person and a good citizen . I don’t understood why these all are happening. My mom also is going through cancer . Thank you for your motivation
my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 14. I felt so broken I felt so helpless. I felt so sorry I couldn’t do anything but be there for her❤️ I was already going through stuff myself but once she was diagnosed everything went downhill for my mental health and well being. was diagnosed with depression and I wanted to end my life but I found my way to god and I know he will not let my grandmother leave me to soon. she will always be my mama.❤
