Does anybody know if it is common to replace parts of a steel hull that become less than 20% of its original thickness? The surveyor didnt go into this in the video, although when finding a small weak spot in the rudder, he said that it was an easy fix for steel. Can anybody here answer about cutting and repatching weak areas? Thx.
Good to see tide low and high. We have trimarang in forbidden lagoon Ilha da Culatra presently beached and fenced in by recently erected barrier. Legally we are fighting for right for boats to enter and anchor. Its a great area... should be kepr free for visitors

Very good description of a rudder problem. After coming down throught the French canals I raised the mast and set sail for Toulon in my little old Westerly Cirrus. But only to discover play in the little girls rudder with four meter waves roller coasting us along. On lifting the boat out I found no anode, enormous gelcoat blistering and a rudder full of water. I knew about the blistering and can deal with it but the rudder needs full attention. Should I split it open, west system it, and close it again ? Linking the rudder with the heavy duty cable to the anode looks very professional.
You say during the video (3:50, I think) that "it is a common problem with these rudders". Do you have any knowledge about which buildingyears that are particularly in question? I own a Bavaria 36 build in 1999, and I sure would like to know what the experiences are with that year. I have been the owner for about a year så there are many things I don't know about my boat yeat...
Wasted all my time watching and we never got see the rest of it, inluding berths, head and Galley. What is the price of it? I am certainly not going to call unless it is around my price range. At the end it says see you in the second video... but where is it, we could not find it anywhere.
Just come back and i'd like to say we had a wonderful time, we were all very sad to have to leave and we will be booking again. Although this video is good it doesn't quite do it justice. Thanks, we loved it.
