What's impressive to me as someone who plays drums a bit is how calm and relax he his on the kit. It's all in the wrists and elbows. He doesn't waste energy by doing big moves and being flashy. He play 3 hours + marathon shows with big metal and complex jazzy tracks like nothing. Probably the most versatile drummer right now in the game.
Man I'm playing a meinl 19 inch crash and a Istanbul 18 inch xist crash and that flat ride and hi hats would just finish my sound off. Will be adding them to my kit soon.
I love the sound of Jerry's playing standard time on Vince Guaraldi's songs. However, when he starts talking about esoteric and bebop and other things "out there", he loses me. I'm not really sure what he meant about his response to Joe Morello's comment about his playing sounded more like Joe's than Joe. I love your standard playing and your spirit, Jerry. R.I/P.
Is the one on the left definitely the vintage? Because it sounds like just the dark matter bliss. Much thinner sounding! Please let me know before I order! Lol
I blind bought a 19 crash ride on reverb and although it’s a lovely crash, it’s a terrible ride. The profile is so low that it has zero stick attack. It also came with lathe chatter. Don’t know how it made its way through quality control
Excellent demo guys. I’d appreciate if you could help me out with something. I bought a 22” paper thing crash ride and when I placed it against a 22” zildjian it was about 4-5 mm smaller. Sent it back to the shop, bought a 22” used bliss crash ride from a guy and again, smaller than my other 22” ride. Is this constant with bliss? Thanks in advance.
I have been looking for this sound for years. Perfect mix of darkness and an ideal quick decay. Sounds insanely good for the price. Paper thin for the win.
Might be late if you want to be the next drummer of a global band but not late if you want to jam and have fun. Start with the basics, learn how to count music and read music and all that stuff too because just learning by ear is not ideal.
Got one of these for a hundred bucks at guitar ctr a couple of months ago (GC really delivered for once) and I can't rave enough about it. Makes a killer crash ride and is one of the only cymbals I use regularly now, along with another 19". Just a great size. You guys are geniuses over there
Was this ever confirmed??? I need to know before I order!! The one on the left sounds a lot like DMB and the right sounds like a DMVB. Also if anyone knows, what one is typically thinner?? Thank you!!
I have a Vintage Bliss 20 crash/ride: it has what I can best describe as in addictive sound : it’s lush, dark, super sensitive. It works as a big full crash, as as ride with good stick definition, if you you want to dry it up it responds well to a little tape and such. It’s just a really wonderful cymbal.
