@@AK-FS Yes, you can mine it for gravel. As to what you can then do with it, I think it's an ingredient in the making of lime. Other than that, I have no idea. I avoid all the productions in FS. As far as I'm concerned, a farmer is a primary producer, making milk, beef, wool, various crops etc. But in real life, the farmer doesn't turn wool into clothes etc, that is the job of the secondary producer. That's how I play the game, at least.
@@PAplowboy Great idea! Although I always pre-order the FS games, I don't generally start playing the new ones until a decent map comes out at least. I've never been particularly impressed by a base game map in my life. Thanks for watching.
@@AK-FS Quite possibly that is the reason, along with people with 1/2 finished projects probably deciding to get them finished and released, before it's too late.
The one that releases videos every day... Is that Daggerwin you're referring to? 🙂 You are an amazing encourager, Russell -- it's always a treat to get a comment on a video... for those of us that have a heart for small channels. Love your rules for RU-vid: -- No posted schedule. -- 20-30 minutes long. -- Don't watch the stats constantly. -- Don't beg for likes/subscribes. Thanks for another great video. 😉
@@AK-FS Yes, it was Daggerwin I was thinking of. In the beginning, I loved his videos, and it's his videos that convinced me to sell my PlayStation to fund the purchase of a PC for FS, and he also put me onto both Woodside Farm and Coldborough Park Farm. But his videos started to get quite repetitive, I suspect from having to put them out daily. Hence I haven't followed him for a long, long time now.
@@russellwhitlock1942 I sometimes release vids daily when I am pushing to get a project done or pushing progress, but usually its every other day for me, but going into fs25 I may drop it down a wee bit
@@furymachinegaming I wasn't referring to you. You and AK are about the only RU-vidrs whom I try very hard to watch every single video of. I sometimes miss one if I've been out of time or something, but I try not to.
@@russellwhitlock1942 no I understood what you meant lol lol, I was referring to the big guys that put out vids daily they seem to make it more of a job then a fun thing to watch, but I was just commenting on my vids hee hee
Another great video sir and i completely understand your thinking im the same way i like the maps that feel like home and I've finally found one thats as close as it can get. MRGs Stilzer Wisconsin map he just put out about a month its got striped contoured fields like all feilds should have i really don't like big open maps nice rolling little fields are my thing
Thanks Russell! I'm going to have to look up some of those maps and check them out. Always fascinating to see what hits others when it comes to maps. The only one common between us, I think, was Coldborough Park Farms. I played a lot on that map for FS '15 and FS '17. My play style is similar to yours in this respect: when I find a map to call home, I pretty much stay there a long time and farm the stuffing out of it! Again, thanks for a great video! 🙂
The family history stories were fascinating. Just think - your life trajectory might've been quite different if your father hadn't sold the business! And you won't find me throwing rocks at your ancestors or any so-called skeletons in the closet. None of us chose our ancestors or anything else about what we were born into. Nor did our ancestors choose us. The measure of any man is what HE does with his life, not anyone else. In the meantime, we can definitely learn from those who came before (both good and bad). Thank you for being willing to share this.
@@AK-FS I will be working through most of your questions over time, plus, you may recall when we all went on a trip to the UK on one of my videos......well, we're planning a trip to Scotland, maybe on the next video, to showcase a new Scottish map.
That does indeed add a fascinating bit of realism. It reminds me of the 'more realistic' mod back in the day. Did you ever try that? Just was curious. I think that mod did its best to add realism features of the sort you described, back in the day when the game itself didn't offer it.
@@AK-FS Yes, I certainly did use that. In FS22 there are about 6 different mods to cover all those functions, of which I use 4 - 5. There is REA Wheels, which I demonstrated here, REA COG which alters the centre of gravity of full trailers, another that adds ground moisture for hours after the rain stops as well as making big puddles form at the lowest parts of your fields, and a few more I don't recall off the top of my head. Thanks for watching, by the way, AK.
Does FS '22 force you to cut the trees down at that angle? It seems understandable that they'd fall backwards cutting them that way, based on what would happen in real life. 🤔
@@AK-FS No. You can change the angle of the chainsaw, anywhere between absolutely flat and completely vertical. That angle choice was me, using all my intensive woodsman knowledge. And yes, I meant intensive rather than extensive, as in my lack of knowledge will end up with me in an intensive care until at the hospital, if I'm not careful.
@@russellwhitlock1942 Oh my yes - I think every Farming Simulator person would literally be dead by now based on how we've cut trees in-game! Thankfully it's only a game! 😂
@@AK-FS There is a hand held hedge trimmer I could use to do that, but that might be getting a bit too fussy. But maybe you're right. And I have enough know-how to do that much, too.
Thank you for some very interesting commentary on the Christian church. I've heard some of those same observations before, and definitely sympathize in what you're trying to do by helping your men's group grow and flourish. I also didn't know that apples were such a prominent ingredient in tomato sauce. Who knew?! Also neat to learn about some Whitlock history. It looks like the brand was eventually purchsaed by Kraft-Heinz. Would love to know more about the history behind this, if you know. Makes me wonder if this brand is sold in my country... Regardless, I wonder if this would be a good modding project for you - set up a factory to produce Whitlock tomato sauce with your inputs of apples, tomatoes, and whatever else is needed. Might provide some additional revenue when the cows dry up unexpectedly. 😉
@@AK-FS Thank you for watching, AK. I do know a lot more family history, and a lot of it is rather amusing, but doesn't necessarily show all of my forebears in the best of light, so maybe I'll do an "by invitation only" video to share this, rather than a public one. Would that actually be of interest?
@@russellwhitlock1942 Absolutely that would be of interest. Family dynamics, familiy history, and family small business are incredibly interesting subjects, and I live in that world every day at work. 😉
Another great video sir my favorite vehicle is my 2002 chevy 2500 HD 5 speed with 4 on the floor and 410 rear end bought it new and still run it just about every day. Now I would guess that they planted them tress along the bank to help keep the bank from eroading away since the roots help keep the ground in place
@@Driver2685Gaming Thank you very much for watching, Driver. The Yamaha was a hoot to ride, and I'm sure your Mustang got tons of smiles to the mile, too.
heyyooooooo letssss go another russell vid, great job, My favorite motor vehicle I ever owned was my very first car owned, was a 1970 mercury Montego, had a 454 super rocket motor in it, was super-fast, super horrible on gas, and super big, I traded it for my 1971 nova super sport, which quickly became my favorite car, great question for sure
Now that's interesting I know there's a few BBQ sauces that use apple in their suase but that looked more like ketchup though great video sir always nice to learn something different
@@PAplowboy Thank you very much, PA Plowboy. And thanks for the inspiration of putting in an apple orchard, even though it's tiny compared to your one.
@@furymachinegaming Thanks Fury. I'm really happy to have found those trees too. It will be interesting to see if they're actually financially viable in upcoming videos.
"And the simple fact is... I don't care." ~ Wise words spoken by Russell 😂 Thanks for the primer on pumps and hoses. I've never seen this dlc in action, as my attention has been on past versions of FS, and find it fascinating. More so that this is even done in real life (I assume?). I guess I'll need to see if I can find a real life example of it. I've seen hose irrigation projects, but not the spreading of slurry. Very interesting. Thanks! And by the way - is it possible to get the hoses tangled? That's probably what would happen to me if I tried using it! Probably would get tangled, and then the flow would cut off. Or would start to make a pressure bulge that would then burst and wreck the hoses. 😜
@@AK-FS Thanks for watching, AK. They don't get tangled, but they will disconnect from the bowser/field tank, if too much "pull" is on them, so my advise is always to lay down more hose than you think you'll need, so there's plenty of slack. It gets really annoying really quickly to be constantly running over to re-connect your hose up again!
What an awesome lego display! That must've taken a ton of work to transport all that and set things up and take them back down. That's some dedication to your craft, sir! Thanks for sharing it with all of us. I imagine there's a certain level of satisfaction to have the public see all the things you did, and be excited about it.
@@AK-FS The tables are all owned by the Lego club, so in reality my one is one of the easiest to move. All fits in one carload, and can set up in about an hour. The big models withc10's of 1,000's of pieces can take many hours to set up. But I do enjoy sharing them at shows. I will be soing the exact same display at Wanganui in two weeks time, as the audience will not be the same
I noticed an old combine in your boneyard behind one of the sheds. Could you sell it to help cover some of the cost of the Steyr tractor you have your eye on? 🙃
You asked whether the clocks in modern cars change the time when passing through time zones? We probably don't have a modern enough car... as it seems we have to fiddle with the vehicle's time whenever we take a road trip and start crossing timezones. Our cell phones adjust just fine, but not the cars. But it sure seems like the more recent car builds should take this into account, but I really don't know if they do! Our 'newest' purchase is a 2022 car, but we've not yet driven it across a timezone (and likely never will), so I'm not sure what it does.
Another great video sir and yes in 20 I was in Montana hunting and the clock in the truck switched and 2 I never really thought about how shady that neighborhood is with all of us living that close 😂 and 3 glad you had fun at the show
Why on earth would people not stay off the route that the cars are driving on? That's very interesting that they built this concept into this game, though. I presume every person on the track jumps away, and nobody gets squashed? And yeah... that would be one expensive puppy! 😂 But do tell - did you end up getting the puppy anyway? Did your wife's heart soften to the idea?
@@AK-FS In the 80's, when safety protocols were not as rigid, it was a game amongst rally spectators ro try and touch the cars as they raced by. It was not unknown for cars to finish a rally stage with some blood on them, or even a fingertip stuck in the panel gap occasionally. And no, I have not gotten the puppy. The wife is still keen on a new house though, as she believes our current one is too big, now that we have only one child still at home.
@@russellwhitlock1942 Note to self: Don't touch moving cars. 😬 Best wishes on the house... and the puppy. Listening to you talk about a puppy made me think back two years. On this exact date (September 3rd for me) two years ago... we lost a puppy. She was accidentally run over by someone driving by our home. I still miss her to this day. Maybe that's the real reason your wife is attaching strings to getting a pup - because it hurts so much when you have to say goodbye to them. 🥲
@@AK-FSI think she's just trying to push me jnto moving sooner. I've told hercwe'll move within the next 5 years, as I agree the house is bigger than we need. But I don't want to move too soon, in case any of our older kids need to move back home. It's not uncommon to have a few false starts when you go flitting for the first time.
@@AK-FS Definitely not. But I've been slowly downsizing my Lego collection, by selling off most of the official sets I own (at a profit, fortunately), so (mostly) only keeping MOC's (My Own Creations).
Thanks for the happy Father's Day wishes, and right back to you! So there's no way to get a view from inside the car? It's solely top-down? Interesting. And do you do all this with a steering wheel and pedals, or is it solely from the keyboard?
@@AK-FS On these particular rally games there is no interior view option. That is saved for the more hard-core rally games. I use a steering wheel called the Microsoft Speedwheel, which doesn't have pedals, as it has triggers for gas and brake on the back of the rim instead. You can Google it. They no longer make this wheel, so I brought two - one as a back-up in case the first one ever breaks. I used to use a Logitech G27, but actually prefer this wheel, even though it is a much cheaper wheel. More practical, you'll see if you Google it. Designed to use on X-Box 360, but does still work on PC, if you use a wireless USB receiver.
I don't know anything about Robb Pitts/Rabbit, but am thankful to hear the news that he gave his life to the Lord before passing. Such an important decision, and I agree with you - it's not something that should be left to chance, as if one will have 'enough time' when the end comes. Frankly, anyone with that kind of attitude isn't really interested in God anyway. 🤷♂
I own both ats and ets2, my last few series since I lost my good friend to suicide, I haven't even felt like talking or making vids, hence why the timelapse, just haven't felt like entertaining, great job my friend
@@furymachinegaming I understand, Jim. Like I said, you take whatever time you need, your friends aren't going anywhere. And I'm hear to listen, if you want someone to talk to. Always.
@@AK-FS That is a fruit stand, that I put in there. It actually works as a sell point, but I'm using it more as decoration. In NZ you get lots of fruit stands or farm shops outside farm gates like that.
Thanks for a fabulous and fascinating video! Loved every minute of it. Chewin' da' fat. How many of us have adopted that term from Atomic67? 🙂 And yeah - I don't care what you're doing in here; I watch these to listen to what's on my friend's mind, whether it's farming related or not. You're right - there are a lot of people in the US who have never been to the beach. It's probably only because I live about an hour and a half from it on the west coast, that I've been to the beach. Given my lack of desire to do a lot of traveling, I'd probably be one of those in my 70s/80s who'd never seen it before either... if I lived more in the central part of the country. Travel to New Zealand - making notes: 1. You are never far away from the beach or the bush. 2. Save money by first flying to the south island, and then traveling NORTH through the islands, hopping to the north island via a 3 hr ferry ride. 3. Speed limits in town and on open road - 50 kmh/100 kmh. 4. There are generally no guns in NZ, even with the police. There are strict regulations on the use of firearms for hunting. 5. Cars drive on the left side of the road in NZ. 6. To get some idea of the cost of goods and products and real estate in NZ, check out trademe.co.nz, which is New Zealand's equivalent of E-Bay. Real estate prices are astronomical!! 7. NZ is very much into nature and birds. So many birds everywhere in NZ. By the way, while our Constitution would give the right to do so, most people in the US don't go around with a gun on their hip either, unless they are a police officer. In my life, I can only recall two instances of encountering citizens who literally carried a gun on their hip. One was a lawyer, which made me wonder what kind of clients he had, and the other was our mutual friend. 😉 I could have missed it, but I don't think we heard your wife's phone when you mentioned it. I've noticed that at home when recording. The central vacuum cleaner is close by, and I can hear it clear as day, but for whatever reason it's never come into the recording. At least, not that I've ever noticed! 😂 I can't say what the norm is in the US on cars... but our little family very much shops for used cars when we need one. The only new car I've ever owned, was this little Ford Contour back when I graduated from college. I was a good little car, but alas, I crashed it in 2014, so it is no more. You mentioned some car imports from the US and that they're not cheap. Are they typically 'novelty' or 'collector' type cars that are imported? Like the Corvette or Camaro that you mentioned. And when you import them, do they come with the steering wheel properly on the right side of the vehicle? If they do, then maybe that's the reason for the cost, as they aren't manufactured that way here. Probably why it works so well to get used cars from Japan, as they drive on the same side of the road as you. Oh wait a minute... you said you saw a Corvette for sale for $50K? That's actually not as expensive as I was thinking it could be. To you or me it might be very expensive, but in general, based on the price of them here, that's not very expensive at all. Probably depends on the year of the car maybe. Thanks again for the video. 🙂 If I may ask, how do most travelers do with driving in New Zealand? We're used to driving on the right side of the road here. How hard is it to adapt to doing it on the left?
@@AK-FS Thanks for watching, AK. All rental vehicles in NZ have stickers on the dash reminding people to drive on the left., plus plenty of road marking reminders too. Even so, you do occasionally hear of a tourist driving around a blind corner on the wrong side of the road. As for importing left hand drive cars, there are exceptions for classic cars from the 69's and 70's, but you could not import a modern car without it being converted to right hand drive first. And yes, the only US cars you get hee are something special, be it a Corvette, Camaro, Trans Am, Dodge Ram truck, etc. I have never, ever seen a plain old 4 door Chevy Caprice or Ford Crown Vic, or something just ordinary like that. As I said, the majority of our cars are Japanese imports. We own a Toyota Aqua and a Nissan Note - both hybrids.

@@AK-FS Yes, although unlike your harvester, these ones only level side to side, and not front to back as well. Which makes sense, as the rows of grapes follow the land up and down.
Another great video sir now im the complete opposite on the grape harvester i prefer the side cab it seems easier for me to stay straight and make turns and great history lesson i forgot about the land train
OK, an update. I got $12,000 for my grape harvest, so given it cost me $500,000 to put in the vines, it would ONLY take 42 years to break even! Of course, that's not including the leasing or purchasing price of all the equipment you need!
