How did you enable subtitles in-game? And how did you enable subtitle speaker name in cutscene? Please tell me I've already turned subtitles on but sub speaker name and in-game subs aren't showing
This mission is more about positioning and utilizing the terrian. It also requires good macro. Your income can't support snipers, cyclops, and kodiacs. This is a very fragile composition. You need marines and maybe even flamethrowers. They can hold the front line better. Your comp is what requires heavy micro. Add that with the lack of A-move and your struggles make a lot of sense.
You definitely are the best at commenting on a walkthrough of the campaign out of the videos I've seen for HW2. With that being said, let's get into the mistakes. Your macro is terrible. This is because you focused heavily on marines and wolverines. The army comp is also why you got leader powered every 3 minutes. In order to utilize your resources, you have to build a variety of units. This will also allow your units to naturally split with attack move commands to avoid leader powers because of the difference with attack ranges. Which you also needed to scout for. Meaning you needed at least two hogs. That's it! Everything else is pretty solid. It is hard to criticize much when you almost had a perfect score. For anyone wondering, the combat multiplier for Legendary is based on a unit built/lost ratio of 40%. This gives you a threshold of 17 units before the multiplier goes into the negative. The A.I. will leader power any army with 6 units sitting on top of one another.
Solid explanation, but not 100% accurate. The reason leader powers are implemented into the campaign is to get you to utilize attack move. This will naturally split your units without the need to micro so heavily. In order for the command to work, you have to first complete a few check marks. Build an army composition that has units with multiple attack ranges, and Scout out where the opponents' forces are at. Once you accomplish these two things, you have to be wary of the terrian and make sure the A.I. can't see your army before they optimize the distance of offense. This will create a natural split of your units. It is one of the many reasons why you don't want to spam one unit type. The hornet spam is just poor macro in general. I believe you can only produce two a minute out of a single air pad and they cost 600 supply. Building more air pads would allow you to produce two more, but it is unlikely for you to produce enough supplies a minute to support it. Take into consideration that you don't start producing units till after 5 minutes into the mission. You only have 15 more minutes for par time. On paper it just doesn't seem ideal to go with hornets if you are aiming for the best potential score.
I beat halo wars for the first time (on easy, since I never played it before) and this level was the hardest. It was especially annoying when the sentinels Started attacking my based and I kept running out of supplies
Flamethrowers are best at destroying buildings and taking out garrison covenant. They also do AOE in a cone. The reason you want to have them into your army composition is because they will win fights without much micro needed. This allows you to play with several ctrl groups while moving up multiple routes to the main objective. Even if they leader power your units, it would only be a third of your army. I've come close to getting the perfect score in this mission on Legendary, but the timing is extremely tight for par. You have to constantly push and produce units.
I finally finished the mission all you have to do is destroy 5 of the noods thing just have like 4 tanks and eveytike the bean comes close to your move one tank to tje oposits side
I don't feel bad at all that I used cheats on this mission. Now this. This is what I hate in games like this. Warcraft 3 has the same bullshit on some missions. You can go through the missions stably, you might lose units, but you can get through with relative ease, enjoying the game and the story. And then it throws a mission like this your way. A mission that has so insane a difficulty spike, that if you don't play like the world champion, you will fucking die every single time you attempt it. It's just so damn stupid.
Yeah, don't ever play an rts this way. You should always look for the most practical approach. Notice how you didn't have more than 5 units on the field for almost 10 minutes of the match. You were never going to get the bonus objective for 1000 civilians. You have to defend the patrol routes and cargos. This isn't realistic with just 5 units. Once you get to the point of building hornets you will come across the issue of resource and production time. You won't be able to build more than two hornets a minute after the initial 10 minutes of gameplay. This is because you aren't receiving enough supplies without having a second base which also takes time itself to build and destroy. You couldn't do this ahead of time because your army was already being overworked. You add that with the fact that if you lost just 2 of those hornets your perfect combat multiplier is gone right along with that gold medal. This "strategy" requires perfect play and even with that you couldn't hit the perfect score. Obviously, you can very easily beat this mission in many different ways, but playing in the most practical way allows room for error. Even with a handful of mistakes you could still get a gold medal on legendary.
Just finished this mission on legendary thanks for the help this mission sucks (hopefully in the future with the other missions they won’t be a difficult) My mind: that’s called foreshadowing
