Good video and great idea, I think that when I melt my wax, I'll use a pan for the wax, placed in a larger pan of water. That way, the wax will melt and not overheat and start a fire. It would just be my luck to burn my place down!
Use a quarter cup of liquid paraffin added to the melted wax a 1 to 10 ratio, one part liquid paraffin to 10 parts wax. You will be amazed at how well it burns.
Nice and easy and light to carry!! Add some barbecue lighter fluid to the pads before dipping them in the wax and they are way easier to light with a ferro rod or flint and steel 👍 Thanks Mate.
Add some carbon cloth it will burn like a sloth. Add some powdered magnesium the fire will bright like it had Cesium. Add some thermite it will good and bright. Get some steel wool wrap in in you wax put a 9 volt to it it will burn to the max. If I have forgotten' burn some gun cotton. to Make a torch real good take your wax mini pad wrap it around fatwood.
I add fire gel (bought in the BBQ section of the hardware for starting BBQ's) to the wax, I first melt the candle wax, take it off the heat and then add in a 50% mix ratio and mix until it dissolves. Then as normal soak the cotton rounds and dry.
Should always use double boiler method when melting wax to be safe, as most candles have paraffin or some other form of chemical in them. Have you tried 10 percent lamp fluid with pure bees wax , that`s a great burner mix with the cotton pads,
Safer to use a double boiler for wax. Just put a melt pot inside a larger pot of water and heat the outer pot and water to just below a boil. Then add the candles.
If you stack, say 4-5 and dribble with charcoal lighter fluid ( you don't want them soaked with fluid, just enough to moisten them), then QUICKLY dip them in the wax. You wax doesn't have to be boiling, just melted. When you go to use them, cut open the top and fluff the center up and hit it with sparks. The charcoal lighter fluid will help by utilizing the liquid that is stored inside the wax. This will flame very easily and last longer because you used more than one cotten square
I always use charcoal lighter fluid. I mix it at almost 50/50. The lighter fluid will stay moist in the center, yet the hardened outside will evaporate, leaving you with a cookie. They light with less spark and are more proven to ignite, and if it's a survival situation, you want a fast and effective way to have a fire
An option is to use Petroleum Jelly instead of Wax _ I get mine from the dollar store. Melt it in a pan or in the microwave and then add the cotton makeup cleaners. Just put them in and push them down until they absorb all the Vaseline. You can also just use cotton balls, they work great too. Store them in a zip lock bag.
MAN that's badass!! Very cool bro...gonna make some for camping. What I like besides being waterproof is that it burns so slow...giving plenty of time to get tinder or dry grass or whatever to catch. Can you use paraffin also?
DON"T use water in the container you heat the wax in! The wax is thicker and when the water flashes to steam the pockets expand and eject a mass of wax. Messy and can be painful. The use of a 'skillet', shallow pan will help minimize that kind of event.
