Mrs. Fox & the Mouse is the place for videos and features about the Disney Parks, as seen through the eyes of Megan Fox, a homeschooling mother of two (soon to be three!) who writes about Disney for PJ Media and is a member of the Disney loving social media community. Mrs. Fox enjoys sharing her Disney tips and opinions on "the happiest places on Earth" with other moms and anyone else who loves honest to goodness Disney magic.
This Tiana was my favorite when we went a couple years ago! We are from Louisiana and she was able to tell us which part of LA we were from! We still talk fondly about our visit with her :)
It’s not a magic band fail because you probably just customized the band it should be I failed at syncing the magic band and got mad that I had to go to guest services
the kicker is that you drove if you take a plane then get on Disney magical express it way way easier to use . this is because you have to scan your magic band 2 to 3 times at the Orlando airport. by doing this that proves your getting ready to arrive at your hotel. when you drive it does nothing for you. so next time fly in. and sometimes if you get lucky disney will text you your room number . BTW I'm am not saying this from experience I have just seen this from day 1 disney vlogs .
This fat hefer thinks WAYYYY too much of herself and her spawn. She is a nightmare for all the minimum-wage people that are doing the best they can. People are like that unfortunately. Wants the moon and stars to align, but common sense must come first. Pathetic whiny story.
Our travel agent and travel books say "check in to your hotel to set up your pin and bands BEFORE you go to the park. You can't just go to the park and have it automatically work! I have done a lot of research for our trip. I am sorry you had a bad experience but did you do any research? Look at RU-vid videos of others and learn from their mistakes or helpful tips that would have saved you a lot of grief. I'm just curious. I hope everything got resolved and you had fun on your trip. :)
Never assume... always do your research. We've never had an issue. You can also check in early... and even leave your bags there. They'll activate your magicbands right there. It's awesome. (Online check-in is for the rooms only). :)
I understand/see both side of this. I would assume that most people do not try to go to the parks the same day they check in to their hotel, especially if they haven't gone to their hotel yet. Wouldn't you rather take that day to get settled in and start early the next day when you have a full day to spend? On the flip side, if they've had this problem with enough people, they should change and let you know that on the front end. But then again, a little research and asking the right questions could have solved that beforehand. I worked at Disney World during the time of your trip and I know as much as it might seem like they have going for them, there's still a lot of areas that need improvement. Hope everything went great after and you had an awesome vacation!
what if we are not sleeping at the resort? I am in a different hotel and ordered the magic bands online off of Disney store. did I already activate them?
I don't think that the lady was meaning that there was nothing DISNEY can do. I think she meant there was nothing SHE could do about activating your magic bands since you did not go to the resort.
We got to our hotel once and our room wasn't ready so we went to the check in counter and asked if our room is ready I wasn't so she set us up can mad it so we could just go to our room like an hour or two later we went to Epcot and it was all fine so just so you know if you do get in way early than check in go to the hotel FIRST and ask if your room is ready and they say not yet thay will set it up so you don't have to check in at 3:00ish and thay will send you a text you if it's ready and you will be able to use your magic band although it should already be activated that happens all the time thay have ALOT of people to track with the magic bands so don't fell discouraged at all it will be super super easy to fix unless you have to wait in lines but most cast members will help you with anything hope this helps a little bit
Wow, I can see that you had a bad experience. Shame. I will find someone else to subscribe to. Also, keep in mind that the Magic Band is in BETA. There will be kinks. Just like a new ride at Disney Parks, it takes a few months to work out the bugs. I remember riding Indiana Jones for the first time, at Disneyland, and the audio in the vehicle did not work. So here we are bouncing around, no music or sound effects. It happens. Get over it. I have been on Indiana Jones over 200 times and love it.
Well that what I call "The Disney way" what's new? I called to make dining reservations and the woman kept getting mine all wrong then she had a melt down and I'm the one calming her down! I wasn't feeling the magic at all!
Other kids should put the magic band on the left hand, DONT REMOVE IT FROM THE MICKEY THING, and put YOUR RIGHT FINGER where that thing is beside the Mickey icon.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience using the magic bands. Now I have seen RU-vid videos prepping for walt disney trips that say you need to check in your hotel resort in order for the bands to work. Unfortunately that's how it's set up. But I do agree that cast members at guest services in person or over the phone need to be better coached on how to properly handle customers with problems.
+CreepySunflower I wouldn't be upset with Disney... since it's not their fault. Would I feel like a fool for using them wrong? Yeah... but I'd learn from it and apologize to Disney for MY misunderstanding.
Hold up kids! I'm feeling entitled and have something first world to complain about. I'm going to videotape it real quick to put on my youtube channel. You'll have plenty of time to hate my guts when you both grow up :)
While I'm sorry this happened to you, this could have been completely avoided if you had read the papers they give you with the bands. They tell you exactly how to activate them, there is a reason it needs to be done that way. Need to see your id and other paperwork to make sure it's YOU. I'm sure you'd be far more upset if someone else was walking around the parks using your bands. Lesson learned. Hope you had fun!
I don't get how this happened.....in August, we used our Magic Bands to board the Magical Express, which you take from the airport TO your hotel. So clearly there was information on them.
If one does not stop at their resort first to activate the tickets/annual pass then they should stop at the guest services at the park first. It only takes a few minutes to get the bracelet activated.
