Hey - I’ve just changed routers to a TP-Link AX3000, and I can’t connect to my Blink sync module. I’m sure I am putting in the password correctly. Any ideas?
@@TeachMe101. This is a tough one. I’m not given the option for the 2ghz signal. I called Blink “help”. The fellow (probably in India) took me thru several steps, including deleting the sync module and starting over, but to no avail. We even rebooted the new router. His last suggestion was to call my internet service provider (?). Any other ideas? (I may stop by our church to see what router we’re using! 😄). Thanks!
@@stevew9988 You'll probably have to get a laptop or computer and connect it directly to the router via an eternet cable. Then login (using your admin and password), go into settings, then turn on the 2ghz signal.
@@TeachMe101 It’s been an adventure, but I’ve got it working! After much more research here are the steps I took: Remove power wire from module and hold down reset button for 20 seconds. Still holding down the reset button, plug the power wire into the module and hold for another 20 seconds then release and then press the reset button 10 times Now blue light turns on. Green light is off. Press the reset button for 10 seconds and release now both blue and green light are on. Press the scan for device. Once connected to your blink module it will ask to connect to your Internet and add the password. At this point blink module is going to say updating your module (it took a few minutes). I didn’t think any of these steps worked…but about 6 hours later while checking our church cameras, I found it was working again! Thanks for your help.
Ny daughter installed these blink cameras outside her apartment. It took the "newcomers" downstairs about 5 minutes to hack them and ride her wifi for free. The minute she disabled them, she heard the little kid from downstairs yell at her mom "hey mom, the internet just went down". She had the strong passwords, latest updates etc, it did no good. These cameras are EXTREMLY vulnerable to hacking. I suppose if you have a very large property where your wifi signal is not accessible from the street or somebody would have to actually be on your property to acquire it, they may be OK, but they definitely need to make these cameras more secure.
With so many Blink camera owners the drawbacks to them should be nonexistent like watching multiple cameras at once, cast or connect from sync module to TV. A lot of the coding for this wouldn't take long for a company of this size! I invested in the wrong company I guess. Also the battery life is terrible and using a USB cable for power outdoors compromises the water sealing 🙄
Is anyone having an issue with long loading for live view or a blink motion notification? If so any advice on how to fix this. When I say long loading I mean nearly 45-60 seconds long
Is there any real need for USB usage on the system if you have the cloud? A friend said you don’t need the cloud, and can just use USB if you have less than six cameras. Is he wrong? Will you still get notifications to your phone if you are just using USB?
@@ltcajh Yes you should receive notifications with or without a subscription. But the USB backup is hit or miss. Sometimes it works and other times it won't. But if you can get it to backup once, then it "should" work.
I have four Blink battery cameras given to me as a gift. Would I spend my money on them - no way! I have other security cameras which record 24/7 onto a SD card, will tilt up/down, right/left, and provide notification, and cost around $35 each. They required electrical power but my home has plenty of electrical power. 😂
I've set up my Blink cameras (outdoor 4 and mini 2) with an Echo show 8. I've noticed that it takes a while for it to start a live feed when I issue a command to Echo show, and there's a 4 second lag in the footage, between what is happening live and what the feed shows. Do you think adding a USB on the sync module will make it faster?
All I have are older XT and XT2 cams on my system, and they have no problems recording simultaneously, also while their on the same sync module, maybe this is a limitation of newer cams and sync modules
I did everything you said. Everything was perfect up until you showed how it looks. I am getting no motion detection notifications and no clip history library to view the clips on my phone. Where is that second screen you pulled up that shows the recorded clips with the play buttons. I clicked on "clips" and it says "no recent activity" (when I know for a fact that I tripped the motion sensor). So. what am i doing wrong?
@@what1864 You may have to uninstall the app then reinstall it. As long as you can sign into your account you "shouldn't need" to go through the entire setup process again.
Good info and thanks for the update. I’ve used blink for years and still do and yes… these “errors/features” are annoying. Good price for the cameras though, but enough my wife and I are thinking of switching to something more “robust”.
blink cameras, under the guise of security, require a phone number. Other camera venders don't require that. The only reason I can think they require a phone number is because that want to associate the camera with other information and sell to data brokers.
Mine worked for at least 4 years now thy stopped, Spectrum router stopped working they had to give me a new one this stopped the Blinks because of gh's was not right. blink support helped but now still not recording. Never had this issue before also not on any plan.
Yes, you can definitely add a new 3rd gen Blink camera to your existing system/account and still get free cloud storage for life. Your account is considered a legacy account. Legacy accounts are Blink accounts that were created before April 15, 2020.Jul 10, 2023
Not happy with my Blink for these reasons and like everyone else, wish I had seen this video before buying. These things are important factors and were not disclosed. Someone rings the bell and my camera takes forever to see the person. Also, get errors on the time telling me to WAIT! Sure hope that no one breaks through the front door! Frustrated at this point. Today having a problem with my Blink - asked my Alexa to show Camera 1 and it just stays stuck on stupid with this comment, "Waiting for Blink". Looks like I will definitely not feel safe until I buy a back-up.
