Great video my breaker was tripping disconnected heater all good removed heater and found a large spring about the size of a hot dog and a plastic mushroom shaped part wedged against the element what could that be left side of heater I was trying to send a picture not sure how thank you for your help
Very good info,I have an old hot tub,got it for free,but firs time I turn on it pull water trough the holes ,all good,but then I start touching small valve that is located on top I think is manifold open and close valve,and it stop throwing water ,and put on screen. Water in water heater got to hot 😢
@spaman I have a hot tub that powers on, cycle through start up, ec mode, then starts flowing out jets. Blows for about 10 minutes never gets hot then pops the breaker. What are your thoughts?

Replace it with a new valve...once the thread are not holding the only fix is to replace the whole assembly with a new one. Ive done several video on how to do this.. Its really not hard it just takes several hours to do. Hope this Helped Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

Hi SpaMan, I’m having trouble with my VS300 Balboa spa pack in my hot tub. I have no display on my topside when I turn power on. Also light comes on and the pump starts without going to prime start up sequence. Has a burning smell from pump area as well then everything shuts off. What do you think is wrong ? Thanks
You can put the GFCI in the main or a Spa disconnect box. Now I always have two breakers on every install I've ever done or helped and Ive put the GFCI in one or the other... I have never just put a GFCI in the main with a disconnect that was not a breaker . I do not like the disconnect like what is used on an AC for instance. @@spaman5440 Thank you! I'm the second owner of a home built in the early '90's and I recently replaced the original hot tub. The original wiring is simply a non GFCI breaker in the main panel and about a 75' run of 8/3 cable. It's a very harsh ocean cliff environment and I can't use anything metal outside unless it's stainless steel or plastic. I really want to rewire this installation to ensure it's safe/proper. Your videos have given me the foundation to redo this wiring the right way.
@@cottydry The 8/3 is the wrong size and type of wire to use outside or on any Hot Tub... I use THHN or THWN wire only #6 on all four wires. Our company fixes this type of problem all the time.... You also need to have a Spa disconnect with in 20 feet of the hot tub and no closer then 5 feet and a min of 36 inches off the ground. Hope this Helps and Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING
could you spend more time on the Balboa 54381 I seriously dont mind venmo you for services or advice . i got a customer wired it themselves and fried 2 boards i believe he wired the same . On the board between its a viking VKV502 its burnt on the board between w7and the slow blow fuse .
I would need to see how it is wired... The fact that two boards have been fried tells me it is wired wrong. in cases like this I always start with the main checking wiring / breaker then move on to sub disconnect and again make sure everything is wired correct then move on to the pack In the pack I would disconnect every thing I have ways in the field to check motors and I would check them first to make sure they are good. @@spaman5440 Thank you for the help , I agree what i can tell is they mis identified the plug for the pump2 he landed it on the Circ pump not the Pump2 the spa does not have the optional Circ pump installed. so it had to have been the issue. Im going to ohm out the motors and see if they are dead short or open , but yes i ordered him a new board to replace the other 2 he burnt up . I have a Caldera Hot tub I tried the toilet plunger I couldn’t get the plunger method to work. I took out the filter & placed the plunger on the stem assembly that the filter slides down onto. My Hot Tub was working prior to refilling it back up. So it’s clear it has an air lock or something. I was just looking for help for Caldera Hot tub trouble shooting.
Make sure all the jets are open and the diverter valve is in the middle and the plunger should work… if not you can take the side off and find primary pump one and crack open the the pump and this will work also… now for the bad part of you open it up to much and the O-RINGS gets pushed out you may half to empty and fix o ring and start over… Hope this Helps Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING
Thanks for the reply back I do appreciate it. I tried again the toilet plunger still nothing. My Caldera Spa has a stem where the filter goes on so the toilet plunger can’t suction out because of the stem design of it. My hot tub doesn’t have a diverter valve on the top area of my spa the only controls in a valve situation is turning on & off the jets to the seated portions. So unfortunately, it’s something that’s gonna have to be troubleshoot through taking off the control panel. I tried sticking the garden hose down the stem where I removed my filter, turned it on full blast, even tried that nothing worked.
I have an older Hot Springs Jetsetter that I'm converting to 220/240v. I have the new wiring in place but do I need to change the dip switch settings? The wiring to the terminal block looks to be from the breaker to go to black wire to #2 white wire to #5 and ground to ground bar. Where does the red wire go? Is there any white wire to remove as you've shown on the balboa?
hello, I am in France and owner of a j335 jacuzzi from 2015. I have an FL1 code. the massage pumps work but the circulation pump does not. the fuses are ok. Should the circulation pump be replaced? thanking you for your help.

@@spaman5440 I have checked all connections and even replaced the GFCI breaker. I am leaning toward the circulation pump overheating over time, or am I off track. I think if it was the heater element it would trip right away.
Not really sure what you are asking... A hot tub with two pumps and motors 99% of the time has to be wired 220/240 volt hard wired. Hope that Helps ...Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

I guess what I am trying to find out is, my 220v hottub has 2 pumps, so do I have to run 2 separate 220v circuits (220v circuit per pump) or will the one main 220v circuit power the tubs two pumps

@@JavierMunoz-gy9sn I thing that it is your Heater and if it is leaking it will need to be replaced . If that is the case its not a really hard fix just take a lot of time and you have to take special attention so you don't break other part while removing the heater . Sometime now is a good time to replace some items that need replacing after many years of service you are there and have to remove several parts and it will save you time and money in the long run... Can anyone help? I need to replace the control board on my spa. It's a Leisure Bay G2 plus super duplex. 2 pump spa. The board S/N is 52326. The chip number is G2R1B. This board is not in production anymore. Can someone help me find a replacement that will work??? Please
spa man. question I have the exact Gecko controller and its tripping my 50a breaker. I've disconnected the pumps, heater and it still trips. I checked both incoming wires Red/Black and both read 121V. If all devices are unhooked from the controller and it still trip? Does it mean the controller is bad?
would a 6 inch flex hose be long enough to heat up get a coupler in between?? I currently have a rubber boot with clamps in between two hard pipes. Not sure if it will hold

As long as you can cover the filter inlet and get a good seal and all of the connection are tight...I will work every time. If it doesn't work you could have something else going... Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING
I wish there was a better aftermarket heater - it is such a lousy design and not a good quality part. I just replaced mine with a supposedly OEM one and one of the temp sensors that came in it was DOA and out of spec so it would throw a temperature probe error. I was able to use the ones from the bad heater which worked. Now a few months later the new heater is tripping the GFCI again. That electrical connection on the heater is such a bad design too. I had to grind down a wrench to hold the stud because you have so little room. Guess I'll buy another one and hope it is a better unit.
Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble.. In all of the years that I have been doing Spa repairs Balboa is by far one of the best designs on the market. So I see this all the time with home owners You might of bought the wrong heaters with the wrong sensors. A lot of DIYer think they are buying an OEM part when in fact it is an after market part sometime you get lucky sometimes not. As for the electrical connection... Make sure you put the washer on the right side of the connection and they make a special 1/4 wrench for that task.
