Great review! Could you show how you installed the PTM7950 you mentioned? I would like to do the same thing but don't have a lot of experience or confidence taking my unit apart.
It definitely is a little intimidating, I would just recommend being careful with the screws and laying out/organizing parts in the order you take them out haha. I actually broke one of the fasteners the first time I did it with last years model. I actually followed a tutorial that The Phawx put out. If you don’t know who he is, his channel is super thorough with benchmarks and reviews for all these handheld devices
Bro when you gonna drop your songs??? I remember watching your ROG Ally live stream like a year ago and you showed us your song which was so good lol. Also congrats on getting UGREEN as your sponsor. How did you do that lol you haven't uploaded in 8 months! Congrats nonetheless!
HEY! I can't believe you remembered that haha. Life has just been so busy, music is on the back burner. Since my professional life has been more demanding and having a kid, I don't have time to focus on music. But I should plan to finish those mixes and release haha. and thank you! I have a good relationship with them since I started last year and was posting like crazy. They sponsored one of my vids last summer and we've just been in touch since then. Awesome people to work with Appreciate all the support!
@@DylanTayag Ohhh gotcha, totally understand. Wish you all the best with your career, family, and content! ❤ Glad you're still publishing when you can.
@@DylanTayag yeah I highly recommend anything then rog rally one of them I got a Trojan virus on it very easily and then the other 2 had smoke coming out of the vents and both the sd card slot stop working it was insane I return them to best buy too.
It's alright. Have the 8840u version as well. Battery life sucks at any meaningful wattage & GPD QC is terrible. Crooked hinges/ slightly tilted screens etc. Charging is slow as well, which bugs me the most. When NOT using it, the best you'll get is around 38w from the wall, this jumps to around 50w when using it while charging. It gets no where near the rated 65w charging at any time, regardless of charger/cable you use. Temps suck ass too when simply using it on the table as the airflow is completely blocked which defeats the purpose IMO. Furthermore, it creates a whistle sound if your fans are on while leaving it flat. Plan on selling mine for the Ally X. Batter piy is a game changer. I would return it but too much of a hassle to ship it back via AliExpress.
Where did you put your jump key? As one of the thumb keys or as one of the finger keys? Have been using a similar Ancient Logitech product and its slowly failing on me, so I am looking for a replacement.
for MMOs I put it on the one that you hit with your thumb nail, directly to the right of the analog stick. That's just because I organized all of my skills to be dedicated rows/hotbars assigned to all of the other finger keys. In FPS games, I have it mapped to the bottom right index finger key
You can probably run it in VR off the ally as well I use mine to play Elite Dnagerous in VR with air link so it should work for flight sim fine as well
Hows it running dawntrail? Ive been eyeing this for a while especially thinking about playing xiv on this. As long as its above 40 frames in most situations i'll be happy with it
After the dawntrail update, it dropped significantly. I was averaging 70-80 fps at 15w TDP (1080p) At those same settings dropped down to 40-45 fps. 15w TDP at 720p brings it back to 80fps 20w TDP seems to bring it back up to a good frame rate if you're wanting to keep it at 1080p
@@DylanTayag Kinda sad to hear that, hoping with future patches that performance continues to improve cause even my current laptop can struggle with some areas and dungeons. Thank you for the info tho 🙏🙏
@@seattlejuice4653 I'm hoping so! If you don't mind running at 20w TDP, thats still a decent amount of battery life (2hours ish) but yeah, I find 15w to be my sweet spot. and yeah, of course!
What are u doing to get the most out of FFXIV in performance? I just got mine and I haven’t been able to hit 60 fps no matter what I do. Anyway awesome vid!
That’s so odd! Is it possibly because of the dawntrail update? I know there have been some graphic improvements. I’ll log on to check it out because I haven’t played in a week or so

This is convincing me to buy one more than any review for simply showing gameplay. I will have to see what my current addiction, Dragon's Dogma 2 looks like running through remote play on this device
I do love the g cloud! But if you also want some power for emulation, I’d consider the Odin 2! Probably my favorite android handheld so far. I haven’t covered it on my channel but a review is coming soon
@@DylanTayag yeah man death metal till death! Really thinking about that win mini 2024 bro…. I have a ayaneo air pro which is about the size of a switch lite… it has a oled screen and runs pretty smooth… I also have a legion go for its usb 4.0 (got a great deal on both) …. I’m wondering if I should sell both to get the gpd… can’t justify buying another and held… the vrr and clam shell design to me are the way…. Wish I was 🤑
@gnarlyblasterboys4123 dude I’ve gotten rid of all of my other handhelds and moved on 😂 there will always be new revisions coming out so might as well live a little haha. Which Ayaneo air do you have? 7840u? That was definitely one of my favorites in that size. The display is great
Very comfortable. The grips on the back are very round. In terms of weight, it's pretty average compared to their competitors. I didn't find it heavy at all
Oh definitely not for in game controls. Couldn’t even recommend that, just great for quick access things in game and navigating through windows and your file system.
@@DylanTayag I guess that's nice to have and the clamshell is nice too, I used to have a Nvidia shield, this reminds me of that a bit , the keyboard makes sense cause on the shield there was a lot of unused space around the buttons and joysticks, I like your review but I think I'm gonna buy a Odin 2 mini and play PC and switch and android and other emulated consoles games with it, I just don't see myself carrying anything bigger in my pockets
@@GhostLinx Odin 2 mini!! Hell yeah, I just sold my Odin 2. It’s hands down the best android handheld I’ve had but I preordered the mini because that small form factor looks incredible. Hope it ships out soon so I can review it. I’m sure you’ll love it for moonlight too
Thanks so much! I realize this is nowhere near as thorough as other reviews I’ve done. I was referring to all these things that only the enthusiasts know and skipped over pretty big features. Hoping to find more time to be able to make more content that goes in depth! Appreciate the support nonetheless
It has the newest and most powerful prosessor from amd. It does have a lot of power, though it will get warm when playing AAA games. If you are planning on plaing it docked, get a dock that also includes a fan for better cooling
@@adtsiriusstarr112 do it! I even had the 7640u version which ran stable 60-65 fps at 1080p standard settings, 15w TDP. If you don’t mind 720p, it’s even better
I can’t even agree to the terms of the damn anti cheat on my rog ally I can’t seem to figure out how to change the display to be smaller so I can actually click the agree button it’s off screen
Hi, I have steam deck and also try get good speed with TOTK. For example on 0:35 emulator show drop up to 21 fps, but visually it look like 3-5 fps. It is precisely such delays that are very unpleasant. Therefore, it is possible that Legion Go can show about 30 fps without mods, in reality the game is annoying. With mods for 1.2.1 I was able to achieve calmer drops and more stable 30 frames. So Zelda TOTK can't run smooth on any portative device without reducing quality mods.
