Question❓️when did you start your patch this year geez mine is very small. I started germinating two months ago and planted them outside last month. Gosh the vines are already thick and running across your yard. I know I've been dealing with a bug problem a fungus problem their looking dark green now and healthier but how'd you get them to grow so good and fast?
Looking great! For me I have to use the overhead water in conjunction with the drip tape. Drip tape is great for deep penetration especially when fertilizing. Overhead handles that top 1/2”-1” which is critical for setting roots and dealing with heat.
Sorry to hear that. I'm struggling with cold nights and hot days in a hoophouse. Fans and heaters are in overdrive. Have had one rain total so far this year, 7 tenths. So, there's also drought. Planted the father to my pumpkin in the ground today. Dug 10" down an there was nothing.
Wow that is a drought. But to be totally honest dry years make the best pumpkins if you can give them as much water as needed. I much rather have no rain then too much when it comes to growing pumpkins anyways.
@@thesouthernpumpkingrower60 In our high clay soil watching growers struggle with water was always odd to me. One watering and We're wet. Being my first real year I am so not set up for a drought and the high temps plus freezing temps at night.
First year of full attempt. Seeing yours and everyone else's plants... Regretting not starting it earlier like the rest of you considering how well the heating cables and hoophouse has went here in Northern Alberta. Learning curve.
Good insight and thoughts on the heating cables. Great observation on moisture under the fabric with identification of potential problems and workable solutions. Solid video
Looks great!!! The Dewitt fabric will flow 15 gal per minute per sqft. I water overhead with no issues. There is kind of a waxy or oily coating the first couple times you water it does make it seem like it runs off, but as soon as that washes off, all the water goes straight. Make sure you really secure it to ground or the wind will get under it and make sure a parachute out of it, I learned the hard way…
Thank you for the help. I am going to put a big wind fence around it and lots of staples around the edge. Hopefully I don’t have any issue. It has been raining a lot the last couple of days and it most has ran off the edges. Thanks for letting me know about the waxy surface. Good luck!!
Everything looks good. Can’t wait to see your progress this year! I started my 1864 Toboyek on Monday. Hopefully my soil warms up enough! Good luck, grow a monster!
@thesouthernpumpkingrower60 nice. Just wondering because the way my mind works is I'm thinking what micron is too small, and could that block any microbes in the fertilizers from getting to the plant? I think I'm overthinking, lol. I can't decide on what I should go with.
@@jamesjohnston5369 after doing some research most of what I have found says 100 to 200 microns so I’m going in the middle. I think my screen is actually 155.
