Im retired and living in the Gold country in northern California. Trying to fish as much as I can and experiences that goes with it. My recordings are new to me and uploading is a new wait game I must master! LOL Just recording as much fun as I can.
Glad you are doing well Got EOL meds the other day in case pain meds stop working or something catastrophic occurs. Fight the good fight 😎🇺🇸💖☕🍩⌛🧂👍💕🙏🤗🥰🤣
Howdy Bob. Hope you're well. I much prefer my hospice at home. I saw too many people just giving up in the hospital. Wife and kids are well. Cats are great for transportable foot warmers! Stay the course. 🤗🥳😁🐈🙏
Bob, hope you had a good Christmas. Youngest is here for a couple of weeks. While here she'll be posting vlogs so you can see glimpses of me. Annabelle Gao or catcreature. Have a safe new year. Much love to all. T
Thanks Bob. Always reminds me of the long days putting around Strawberry Lake/Pinecrest with our post WW2 Evinrude on a 15' aluminum (probably made from old bombers). No sonar, no trolling motor, but a great full ice chest, sandwiches, and hot dogs to cook on the hibachi if we got skunked. Thanks. T
I know it's a haul for you. My dad used to take me to Frank's Track. Catch and cook with a hibachi on the boat. Never got skunked in the 60's and '70's.
I will try doing better with the camera, lol. I would put it on a tripod but I get kinda embarrassed by doing that, dont want people to think i have a big head and expect to catch a fish. lol
I thought I eard the beginning of Jingle Bells before you got that bell off of your rod...a little rusty in netting that trout...if you need some help just give me a holler...
hey where did you guys launch the boat at >?? thanks also how deep how mnay feet for crabbing? Any advise would be appreciated , want to take my family for some fun .
Nice video! I don't like to run anything longer then 48 inch leader so it's easier to land the fish looked like you had about a 7-8ft leader! Also why do you keep checking the gums of you salmon like its the ocean? You will seldom find a coho on the river, I've only ever seen one coho caught on the feather river in my lifetime! If you magically caught a coho on the Sacramento no need to check you are allowed to keep any species of salmon on the river!
Wow! That hook is crazy bent. Great job guys. Looks like you were near Ko-Ket - Ryde area just below Walnut Grove. I was out there this past weekend as well, we picked up a couple. Question; I see a lot of guys with their rods pointed straight down, like you have. What's the advantage or reasoning? I've tried doing that and I feel pretty insecure about it. Even with the Orca rod holders I can't help but feel like my rod is going to dump in the river lol.
The rod pointed down is a attempt to get the lure down a little more, pointed up I think it forces the lure up. I guess, as long as the slide ring is closed, the rod is not going anywhere. Every time there is a hook up, the rod just goes down towards the water. at least for me, lol
I personally hate having my rod tip point down while trolling for the fact that when I hit a big fish I have to dip the tip to remove from my rod holder and the fish can come off. I rather add more weight to drop my bait down further. Also can run a safety connected to your reel. The only reason to point some of the rods down would be if you were on a commercial salmon boat or salmon charter to spread out the lines to avoid tangles along with stacking the depth of bait i.e if you had 4 lines on each port & starboard side. one would be at 30-40-55-80ft
Great catch! Nice to see the delta producing. I've never fished for salmon in the delta but I'm going to give it a try next week. Camping for 4 days at Sandy Beach.
Escape convicts from San Quentin...a bit of a rough ride I see...and you also made a friend...Bob are you retired...???...it must be terrible being retired and fishing...ha!!!
