i don't know, but I had a tough time finding information about him, and I only found one photo of him. There should be much more information about him and at least a few press photos from his trials.
Their story is an interesting one. I have often thought that a book should be written including thoughts of those that knew them only 20 years later. Thank you for your comment,
So many people, so many gone. I try and stay out of the cities and im ALWAYS armed. For me Alaska is a beautiful place of cool days and cold nights in September but for those that call it home permanently it can be a lonely place where they let their guard down when people come around. Stay safe.
@@robinbarefield1993your stuff is the best 2 of my old bosses are in a couple of your stories & my cousin is in another one of your stories also from anchorage. I’m in fbks!
The narrator's voice is incredibly soothing, I have become completely addicted to this series and I have a lot of time on my hands in Saudi Arabia on a drilling rig. If there ever was a podcast that's a page turner, this series would be it. Short and sweet and to the point, I can't wait to get back to Alaska to the beautiful cold weather and the clear skies of summer. The narrator really makes me homesick for a place that I never grew up in.
There is a lot of friction between natives and white people. The first time I witnessed this was two years ago in Minto. I usually just give them room and I'm overly friendly.
I just finished the film "The Frozen Ground". It was amazing how the cops weren't even hunting the guy. You know those girls just disappeared and nobody noticed, it just shows how callus and cruel the world is. Ive raise 3 sons and a grandson but never girls. Its very apparent that girls need a little more protection than boys. I dont think women get an even shake in life and they really should because women are the vessels of life and without them mankind goes extinct and the kindness and gentleness of life is also gone. Thanks for making that podcast and bringing some attention to the disappearance of women in Alaska. You know thats someone's daughter, mom, granddaughter or sister, not just numbers on a page. Keep up the good work.
I absolutely love this podcast because it caught my eye. I recently acquired land in Manley and I had no idea what happened there. Now things make perfect sense, before I leased land from the Tribe they did a background check on me. That makes me feel safer for sure. My property is in the village and not in the bush. You have a very soothing voice and I really enjoyed the story. That background music really adds to the mood.
I want to know who the first woman is with Roger Culp and why she hid WITH A SHOTGUN. You know she KNEW what happened. That’s why she was HIDING. The LEAST she could’ve done was call the troopers at that exact moment. WTF? Thanks to that, my father got murdered that day.
I still think this had to do with the Warren report. Boggs was not convinced of what was published even though he was on the committee. I think he was about to spill the beans and they killed him

Thank you for this summary of this tragic event. I lived in Alaska at the time. I was in my second year of working on my masters thesis on the volcanics of central Alaska. I knew of the Wilcox expedition but was not able to join due to having been given a deferment from Army active duty in the Corps of Engineers. I asked for permission to join the expedition as I had extensive mountaineering experience and was a strong climber. The army did not allow me to join as it was not a part of the thesis I was working on. This was the summer of the Alaska Exposition in Fairbanks where I lived. It was also a very eventful summer as we experienced a flood with much of the city under water. I did finish my thesis and graduated from the University of Alaska with a master of science degree in geology. If I had gone on the expedition I am sure I would have died as I would have been on the summit. These people experienced a horrible unexpected storm and I am sure that is the reason for their demise. I watched Denali from my university far to the north, but I was alive and often thought of all the people who died on that mountain.
Thank you for sharing your story. I can't even begin to imagine how you must have felt when you heard about what happened to those stuck on the summit during a horrific storm that no one could have survived. I am very glad the Army did not allow you to join the expedition.
Hi Shawn. I used news reports and court transcripts. Please contact me and tell me what I got wrong. You can email me at robin@robinbarefield.com. I want to be as accurate as possible.
Watch for a soon to be published book based on the memoirs of a man who was navigator on Klengenberg's ship. Maid of Orleans. Read the more likely story of that mystery . This tale by Barfield is based on gossip.
Lee Harvey Oswald attended Arlington Heights high school at the same time, i think there was a year difference in their age. I didn't know LHO came from such a priviledged background. Actually he seemed not to exist before that day in Dallas.......?
I am sorry about the loss of your friend. I will take a look at it, but unsolved murders and disappearances are difficult to write about because the police won't release any information.
Hi Deb! The podcast website is murderandmystery.show. My overall website is robinbarefield.com. The link for The Last Frontier Club is: www.patreon.com/join/lastfrontierclub. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I've found your RU-vid channel and audited that you have already uploaded 118 videos on your channel with 205 subscribers. Your content is amazing, but those videos didn't reach a wider audience, so you didn't get enough views and subscribers. Because there are some faults: you didn't perfectly SEO your video & and need appropriate SEO & and organic promotion.
Why the Hell was Anderson never brought up on charges for that change to those two vessels. That's an intentional act of murder by action to a vessel. The load stripe is not there for looks.
Nice to see the A-boats Disaster get some coverage! The maritime world is, unfortunately, chock full of poor practices that lead to loss of life. Look no further than the horrendous history of bulk carriers from the 1970s till now.
I am a Grandson of Arvid Franzen. We always knew of Grampa shooting Krause but not the fine details. Robin, I have photo's before and after this period if you are interested? Thanks, Karl Elder
I grew up next to the Awes family in Anacortes. Richie Awes died on the Americus, he was right out of high school and it was his first (and last) trip on a crab boat. Anacortes was deeply affected by the A-boats disaster. There is nice memorial to them there.
I was sure this was posted 2 days ago - this is 2 years old with only 9 likes?!? Start doing some shorts if you are interested in growing your channel. Nice vid
