Im so f ing old I actually saw Black Sabbath live 50 years ago. Eagles before them and Deep Purple after them all in the same show for just $10. This video is very entertaining. I know how it is when you feel like there are bugs in your hair and you are seeing spiders everywhere. Good job boys keep on playing.
The guitar player is more interested in showing off than playing the song, but I'm just happy one of Black Sabbath's coolest songs is being celebrated.
Very beautiful tribute to your Dad, sure he would've loved it. One comment, if I may,...for those of us who never met him, it would have really enhanced the podcast to have shown a few photos, especially some production stills (if you have any) from some of the cool movies/tv shows he worked on....never the less, really enjoyed the stories....happy belated Father's Day to you.
I retired now and can only work so much. I agree with your thoughts about the old ways and the new. Another thing about The Village is that it broke down some of the trust that one had to have with the operator. It stumps creative input from the operator who can actually surprise you with their vision. This even permeates into the hiring process. Regarding continuous takes, I hate them. I can only imagine the strain on the operator, even if it isn't handheld or steadycam, and the boom man. All I ever got stuck with as a Grip was floating a flag and that could get old on an eternal take! I think that it bothers some of the actors, too, not to mention the person trying to get off the stage because they've gotta pee! I even miss camera reload because it gives you a chance to do little things to prepare for the next shot.
Hi Mike! Thanks for reminding me what I loved about working in the Industry....and what I disliked about what it became. I hope it doesn't all end up as an AI algorithm on a computer. Cheers. -Alan Disler
Enjoyed your podcast. Being “seasoned “ and of the same generation, I could relate to everything! I loved how down to earth and real it was…. Zero pretentiousness like so many. Anyway….. this strike fucking sucks 😡! Take care.
I wander if those guys even know who they're sharing the stage with. Do they know who Danny Carey really is, what his day job is? Drummer for the ultimate band TOOL!!
I saw the sax player at the baked potato years ago. Dude randomly started talking to me and was really nice. Being an LA guy he asked me where I was from and when I sad East Coast he guessed New York of course, haha.
Dan is always watching his fellow musicians and feeding off of them as he plays. That’s the sign of an old school compositional drummer and one of the reasons I always love watching him play whether it’s in Tool or any other setting. He’s not just getting lost in playing a pocket groove, he’s always communicating with his band mates and calibrating and that’s why he’s probably such a great musician to share a stage with.
I agree man, and I’m a drummer myself and I think Danny has really influenced me in that way. Been a huge Tool fan since sometime in high school (‘05-‘09). He’s just “the king”, there’s no denying it. People can have they’re favorite drummers but if you’re a “real” drummer you gotta know this man is the legend lol. Bout to play a show this upcoming weekend, first big show as a band, we have too much material is the problem lol. But I put together a setlist from some recent practices and I think it’s gonna be good, let me know if you hear it.. I guess maybe one day we might become famous and this’ll be like an internet Easter egg or something lmao!! It’s through Dropbox, I know no one will probably ever read this/check it out and maybe that’s why I’m cool posting it but I hope you know this is not like a scam or something to get you to “click the link”, just a dude trying to share his passion for music and for drumming!! Lol.. Check us out is you’re in Tampa. Low-Key Awesome! “Violent Reptile” album coming soon!! www.dropbox.com/s/qv5no8ct0vif9yc/Feb%2020th%20Setlist.wav?dl=0
The Band is The Doug Webb Allstars. They play regularly at The Baked Potato Jazz club in L.A. Right now Danny is back on tour. The Baked Potato web site has archived show for streaming. Multi camera shoot with very good audio quality. Well worth the fee.
This bfore your vist to Good old county in ass ks..😁😆I know all about these well I'll call them people here they been driving by non stop snd I'm not goin bk into our lil facilty here o no ..thank you
I think Danny is good but when people call him the best it floors me we as musicians have yet to understand that no one player is the best ever with all the genres of music that crossover it is impossible to have one best player for instance Flo Mounier is know primarily as an extreme metal drummer yet is extremely jazzy in his playing
