I’m not a developer nor do I know the slightest thing about being one BUT your video was in my suggested and I watched thru the whole thing thoroughly entertained
if you get a little adventures come to Drachenfest in germany, its once a year, the 3 biggest larp in the world and really stunning. only difference is that there is a 24/7 in time and you can use ur character from empire if you want
It will be great and fun to meet you there. I also started 2023 winter. Trying to find more friends and people to explore more of Empire and its system. Being a brass coaster you will find me there! or well I'll spot you and find you!
Hey! I learnt about empire through a fellow member of my medieval archery group. I really want to go, and have a basic kit due to doing medieval reenactment already. My question is, what advice can you give in regards to going to your first empire event, by yourself as a woman? My husband isn’t interested in going and my daughter is too young to come with me. I’m abit overwhelmed of the thought of going by myself. I don’t know where to start, am I allocated a random encampment when I join a nation?. Any advice would be great! I’m hoping to go to E4 this year. Thank you, Layla
Heya! So I did go with a friend the first time but I have also done a solo night and I've found people are very kind and look out for one another. You can join discords and facebook pages for the event/your nation to connect with people beforehand. For camping, it depends if you are camping in character or out of character. Out of character you can pitch wherever in your nations designated area. In character you'll need to organise where your tent goes with whoever that nation's camp planner is. Hope this helps a bit :)
I am a Marcher so we like fighting, nonsense and farms. LARP is definitely better with friends. Weather wise Empire does seem to be slightly cursed we either get too hot or too wet never a British mediocre. The Marches has a little bridge over where our water pools.
ive recently took up interest in this position specifically as a way to work in game design and was wondering if this position ends up working closely with concept artists or if there was maybe another term for someone who does both. i was a drawer before i took interest in game design and am wanting to work on narrative while still having a hand in the visual design: iyo would seeking a smaller studio where these roles are interspersed be best for that? (thanks for the vid also i feel like its helped me get some bearings, also is that kurama on your shelf?)
Hiya! So in my experience, narrative should work with the art team in some capacity, but a narrative/artist role that combines both doesn't really exist unless you're planning on starting your own team or working as a solo dev (I'm talking very small indie team 1-5 people). Reason being that both roles are usually full-time jobs that require constant attention, so having someone oversee both would not be fair on the individual and massively slow down development time. My advice would be perhaps start your own projects where you can do both or look at working for one of those roles full-time whilst exploring the other in a more personal capacity (working full time in narrative but working on art in your personal time or vice versa). Hope that helps!
In defence of the scam bag...in a real fantasy world, if a leatherworker made a mistake like that, they'd still sell it as that's precious materials they can't recuperate, and you got it for free. You could RP that you rescued a leatherworker's kid and they were so grateful the kid insisted on making you a gift. Silver linings and all.
saw you at e1 and was abit shy to say hello. it was my first ever larp. you looked very wintermarky and on a mission but thanks for your content its helped me out loads
I'll be joining the Navarr in E2 next month, so hearing your experience was great. I'm really looking for the Songs & Stories as it seems to be a legendary event at this point! Hopefully meet you on the field!
I really want to go to Empire as well! I’ve got a bunch of costume stuff but I don’t really know how it works and the wiki is really a lot to process. I’ve done LARP before so I’m alright with the fighting it’s just kinda overwhelming. Thanks for the video, it’s really helped understanding it all. :)
One thing I'd say is don't feel like you have to absorb even a fraction of the wiki - part of the fun is just experiencing the current lore and politics as you go :)
I watched this while sewing my kit for E1 24 right now! Been playing since E2 2013 (I have a older brother who took me as a teen) and I was so cool hearing someone’s first experience of Empire! It’s good to see a fellow night mage! If you’d like to make a Urizen friend, or someone to guide you through conclave I’m happy to share my IC name ❤
Heyo! Awesome video. Always awesome to see newer people talking about how they have got stuck into the game! I started Empire at the Winter Solstice, exactly 1 year ago now, I put off joining a LARP system as I do not have the social bravado I thought must be required. Eventually, over months. worked myself up to throwing myself at an event, solo. I immediately found amazing people in Wintermark and really fell into my character, My characters accent took ME by surprise 😂But has allowed me to throw myself into a situation that my normal self, Ab-so-lutely would not ahaha. My Wintermark character straight away had background options I had not even thought of before I started. None of your character really has to be strongly decided before starting, throw yourself into and then see where the river flows, is my advise to any newjoiners. It really is an amazing way to step completely out of your own comfort zone and become someone else for a weekend. Now, a year later, my character Marcus has been named twice in Wintermark tradition, and has stepped into the role of Warden of Wintermark!! Iv probably shouted at you in the moot square 😅(Sorry!!) whist sweating my tits off in furs with very much not-summer clothing. Empire is truely an amazing experience where you can do as much or as little as you want, and is a totally magical place to have some fun and make some amazing friends ❤ People will absolutely be in the same shoes as I was in tiptoing around coming or not, I emplore them to give it a go!! you will not be disappointed 🎉 And your always welcome to a drink around our hearthfire 🍻 Again, thank you so much for the video, and im sure it will help so many more take that first dive into the Empire world! Excited to see people in the comments taking the dive 😁🌟 See you all in the field!
I love your description of On The Wall on the Saturday 😭 I play a Navarri character and though me and my friends don't really sit through the whole of Songs and Stories that is the one not to miss. This event I specifically remembered legging out of a portaloo from the other end of the woods when I heard it starting 😂
I said last year I was going to go but things got in the way, I'm going to try and make E4 this year. Cheers for making this video, it has given me an idea on what to expect, Also joining Wintermark 😊
Just got my winter ticket for the year, and thought id look for a video to send some friends! Marcher here, drinking singing, drinking, fighting and singing, followed by more drinking.
Thank you so much for sharing! Super helpful and informative ❤ Me and some friends are starting in September 2024 with the Navarr so we may see you by the fire ✌️
The song that always concludes Songs and Stories is "On the West Wall" by Jamie Wakefield - it's on Spotify & Apple music. We (Navarr) really fucking love that song, I'm glad you felt it :)
Hey, myself and 3 friends are going in April for my first time. Also going Wintermark and trying to decide between healing or fighting 🤔 I will keep an eye out for you there if your going. The video was super informative thank you!
I can assure you, you can do both. You can either grab physik and chirurgeon to do herb healing on the field. You can also go Mage and pick up the heal, restore limb and purify spells to be able to do healing on the move (nothing scarier that a mage with a staff of imperial mastery though ;) ).
Look forward to seeing you there! Don't stress too much about getting your character build right first time, as first-time players can amend their skills after the first event (even during!) :) Go with what sounds good then roll with it!
