Welcome to a life view from a full-time mom, part-time nurse and want-to-be homesteader. I dream of owning a small (or giant) farm homestead someday. I place where my kids will bring their kids to visit and learn things that wise old grandparents pass along. I like to help my family grow and learn a healthy lifestyle. I try my best to get them to eat health, home grown and homemade meals, but chicken nuggets and box mac-n-cheese make their way onto the table still **shrugs shoulders**. I enjoy the work of helping others through nursing. Our household runs on a shift work lifestyle, so were are often times running as single parents most of the week, only seeing each other in the driveway as we pass. Our family supports the work of helping others and protecting those who cannot. Come hang out, help me figure out things in life my momma should have taught me. I'll even throw in some cooking, cleaning, gardening...
Well, you could always freeze the chicken and use if for crabbing over the next couple of seasons (if ya'll like seafood). Or sell it in bulk to someone that runs crab trot lines.
@@DelawareAcre you saved me honestly .. I was given two shopping bags full of over ripened cukes and no clue how to not waste them and just add them to the compost pile.
@@clairequinn8665 hi! I’m in zone 7b! Slug bait is just cheap beer in a shallow saucer. I cut a plastic bottle off about 3 inches from the bottom. Cheap & works well! Only thing is, you have to empty & refill routinely, which I always forget!
@@tenisha637 it’s a cattle panel! Bend it Btwn “t”posts that are about 4-6ft apart (depending on how tall you’d like the trellis to be, the closer together, the taller it’ll be…). Mine are been my raised beds but I still used t post to with zip ties to secure
Tangerine playing in the background makes the tedious work of straining out the seeds so much more bearable. I would give those seeds and pulp to my chickens.
This is why I only do small batches any more. If I have a batch that doesn't set up, I keep it for adding to pies or for pancake syrup, and gift friends a "home made gift set" of one jar of jam, one of jelly and one jar of syrup for Christmas, so they have more options. They will never know you messed up!
All trial and error, got some cantaloupe growing now and the blossoms just falls off after a few days . Literally looks like something used a scissors and cut it off ..
Thanks for a real life demo on getting all the goodness from the animal, im new to it myself but really enjoying the process along with the broth, yes the smell can be a little overpowering after a while, i think im gonna do mine next batch in the outbuildings, and airfry up the left overs from the tallow for a snack...great vid thankyou from Aultbea Scotland
I want chips, but my place is small and I live on a bit of a slope. If I could empty my driveway they might drop. Wood chips are nice for mulch, but if you want to rot them down for compost quick, urine is an excellent nitrogen source. It does get the ph a bit acid, so for quicker rotting and ph control and mineral enhancement add either oyster shell lime or dolomitic lime with the urine. Good compost will not smell at all. If you are pissing in a bottle, it stinks when you pour it out, but that's all. If you have sawdust to compost, you can mix lime and sawdust in a 5 gallon bucket and just piss right in it and dump to compost and no stink ever. If you get a lot of thorns, you may want to go the compost route with that batch, especially if you have pets, bicycles or like to go barefoot.
❤The rain was miserable, but it didn’t seem to stop people from participating with the festivities. Serafina had a good time 😊, & it was nice being with good company. 🥰
Looks like a Cicada Killer Wasp, or a Cicada Hawk, its not really a "Wasp" like the typical asshole wasp They generally dont bother people unless you step on them or grab them roughly, and even when they do sting its basically like a mosquito bite, they dont have the same kind of venom a regular asshole wasp has en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphecius_speciosus You had a much more pleasant experience on your first encounter than i did, one got into my house and landed on my neck and i LOST MY shit, hit it with a frying pan and knocked it across the kitchen, then i googled what the hell it was and felt terrible because it wasnt a danger to me, i just went into "WASP KILL!!" Mode I see them rarely in the summer flying by with Cicadas in tow, theyre cool little animals
When first reading the directions, you said tablespoon, when it should have been teaspoon. I don't know if you meant to say teaspoon instead of tablespoon. When the letter "T" is capitalized, it equates to Tablespoon, when the letter "t" is not capitalized, it equates to teaspoon. P.S. I see you caught this in time. I hadn't watched long enough. lol Glad you caught it
I don’t know why I had such a hard time with this! I know “T” & “t”… I just had a brain fart this day 😂😂 I’m definitely trying this again & see if it turns out better. thanks for your comment!
This isn't drama and bullshit. It's truth. And that's why it won't get the attention it deserves. People can't deal with truth they are obligated to act upon. They choose that distraction of drama
Coconut sugar works pretty well for me as a brown sugar replacement, or regular sweetener in baked goods. Sometimes I’ll add some maple syrup if you need some extra sweetness. The coconut milk and creme work great in baking! I usually prefer dairy for drinking but the coconut milk can be a good substitute for creamer in a pinch. I’ve been wanting to try Azure for a while too! A little farm store near me started carrying some of their stuff. They have some really good products.
Yes! I tried the coconut milk in my hot tea, it was ok, but I still prefer cows milk for that. I am glad I found ( late to the game ) a shelf stable option. I was using Almond milk, but had upset stomach with it!
I've been thinking about trying Azure but i/m on the fence about it. My closest drop is near Oxford PA which for me is about 45 minutes to an hour away. Since I'm still working full time I not sure about the drop times world fit my schedule. I'm also contemplating Thrive Market for the delivery option. I'm also a household of one so unless I pair up with a friend I'm not sure about doing Azure.
I found out my neighbor goes to the closest drop, also about an hour away, & it seems like it will work out well. Maybe you can find someone local who is also going & match up. The drop coordinator might be able to hook you up too! I hope you can try it out!!
