Hello! I am a huge retro/modern gaming connoisseur. I love playing and talking about the original Playstation, as well as other consoles of this generation or other Playstation systems.
I have a new video every Saturday (and sometimes I will upload on Wednesdays.) I dive into the PS1 library and talk about games from that console, just giving yall jargon 😀.

I just played it and is the worst game that I have ever had the disgrace to touch, you think that with the controls being so horrible they would have tought about not putting enemies too close to you
Great review with just the right amount of detail and some nicely chosen parts of the game. Just been getting into Cave and Psykio shmups and I'm having a blast. Akai Katana is next on my list from the Xbox game store. Thanks!
@enigmaticpizza It's definitely fun no doubt. There's definitely a crowd for that game for sure. Personally for me I just prefer the earlier entries in the series.
@vagnermonteiroo Honestly most people who would play this game probably just play on an emulator, but i was casually playing this and found this out by accident lol I always hated grinding in this game and this definitely is a time saver.
@@JoyStickJargon i kinda have a weird fascination with this game. at least once a year i'll start a new save but, somehow, i never actually played through the whole thing lol i just started a new save and your video popped up on my page (sorry if my english seems broken or something, not my main language)
@vagnermonteiroo That is hilarious you say that, because I have the same issue where I start but then I quit lol I beat it for the first time a couple months in about 22 years. It's been awhile. Grinding is just a huge problem in that game, and it can really make wanna stop playing. But the hack I found here makes it a little better to play through. This game really needs a remake though because as an rpg it does fall a little flat.
@@JoyStickJargon yeah, maybe with fast travel and some other things a remake could be great. Or maybe just a new digimon game with a new story but with similar playstyle.
I love Tekken 3! The best game in the series on PS1. I never really cared for the first 2 games and couldn’t really get into them either. Tekken 3 is still a blast to this day however!
Also it’s a shame what happened to Ape Escape 2 on PS5 nowadays. I mean it’s not unplayable by any means but it’s quite glitchy at times and constant frame rate drops unfortunately. I do hope a patch fixing these issues will be sorted out someday. I highly doubt the third game will ever become available on modern system due to the metal gear solid mini-game that’s on it unless they somehow remove maybe? That might be the only way to get around that particular situation.
I’m really glad the original ape escape can be play on PS4 and PS5 nowadays. The game could’ve be played on PS3 since the disc wouldn’t read it properly for some reason and would always be stuck at the main menu too. I can’t remember what the reason was but it was very annoying overall I thought.
@BrennySpain interesting. I'm not too sure about that one. I beat it on PS3 years ago and captured footage for this video on PS3 and I didn't have any issues.
@@JoyStickJargon yeah that’s strange then. Maybe it was the PS3 slim model that wasn’t working or something like that. I used to have the original model but I traded it in for the slim.
I love Ape Escape! One of the best PlayStation exclusive games ever! The original was truly the most unique game at the time to say the least. Sadly the series has now faded into obscurity due to PlayStation’s bigger focus on cinematic based movie type games like god of war and horizon. But Astro Bot does give me some sort of hope the series could maybe come back someday. You just never know am I right?
I played both Silent Hill and C-12 Final Resistance and yeah they work way better with the dualshock control system. You should of mentioned Alien Resurrection the first game to actually use the modern dualshock control system and ironically was critsized badly for it
@@Bird-Birdy-Love I am hearing a lot about Alien Resurrection. I should have looked into that one! There's so many games on the console to talk about. I'll need to talk about that one in the future. Thanks for your feedback!
Yeah, analogs are kinda weird but very nice. It's just so engraved in modern gaming, you don't even think about it much. But then there's CRASH 1 FOR PS1.
Alien Resurrection is notable. It is one of the (if not the very) first game to implement what is now the standard dual stick control method for first person games. It was famously lambasted for this control scheme in the GameSpot review. That review is hilarious to read with the benefit of hindsight
@@gammaphonic yeah reviews back then didn't make much sense at all. I've been hearing a lot about Alien resurrection. It will definitely be talked about in the future on this channel!
3:50 I watched a video on how to improve one's gameplay skills in CTR, and one of them is to avoid the analog sticks and disable vibration. Steering judgment is perfected with the directional buttons, and vibration function actually hinders the player's handling and controls.
i still got my bigbox disc edition of the pc version and played the hell outta this game :)) ..that windows version needs a remake.. btw the playstation version is 100% trash
Even though I love all Silent Hills (yes, even the bad ones), I still think this is where they peaked. A simple yet interesting story, interesting characters with dark past, the side story with the cult and drugs, the open town to explore. If the Silent Hill series was inspired by Twin Peaks, this is the main game where it really shows.
Alien Resurrection has the best dual shock controls on the entire platform. Game was well ahead of its time, you can tell by looking at IGNorants score.
Another thing about Ape Escape: it features an insanely good soundtrack, especially now that old electronic genres are on the rise. Edit: damn also Quake 2, ost by Sonic Mayhem goes hard asf.
Mchine hunter was the first game to use them well i ever played. One stick controlled movement atound screen one controllered the bullet hell coming out of your character. Still see games foing similar controls now and then
Something that never really gets talked about with this game that is actually my favorite thing about it: the extreme dithering in the graphics. It gave such an extra level of unsettling murkiness to the presentation
The big question is, what do you prefer? The original PS1 games or the n sane trilogy on PS4. They’re both amazing for different reasons but the first game on n sane is so much better because of how you don’t need to complete a level without dying in order to get a game. Only the coloured gems. That was a great change I thought! But the original PS1 version is still the most satisfying game ever to complete I think.
Both have their pros and cons. The remake looks better, and for the first game remake, you can die and then retry at a checkpoint to get the gem still(except colored gems). In the original you had to do every level in one go. I do think the originals play better though. A lot of times in crash 1 on n sane Trilogy I swear I made a jump over a hole and it was not the case. I personally like the originals. But I mostly play the remake for convenience over the years.
You remember the emperor’s new groove at all? The PS1 tie in game was amazing and I hope you review it someday. It was developed by Argonaut Games who did Croc. All time classics those ones I think.
Definitely an enjoyable game for this. I’m a big fan of Lilo and Stitch too. A new live-action movie of the original movie is coming out next year. I don’t know how to feel about it but I hope it turns out better than Snow White. That movie is destined to fail as far as I’m concerned. Delaying it by a year won’t change anything either!
Nice video! I’m pretty sure you can still play this on PS3 via downloading it on the online store. I can’t wait for silent hill 2 remake! It looks absolutely incredible I think!
@@JoyStickJargon I’m slowly replaying the reignited trilogy also. I love Moneybags voice actor in that game too. It’s so unique but the voice acting in the original PS1 games were great too but I like how in reignited it’s the same voice actor in both 2 and 3.
IGN only gave arena on PS2, Xbox and GameCube 4.7/10. That’s extremely embarrassing I think! It’s literally not that bad at all. Rush on the PS1 on the other hand though…
