Most interesting. The orchestra plays in traditional 17th-18th century Handel style. The dress is contemporary. The Largo, traditionally was sung by a male, is sung by a female.
I can actually make out the Third Lady's contralto part, which is fantastic. Ms. Lewis has a wonderfully rich voice! Are these people all professional singers? Sure sounds like it!
Only watched the overture and the first couple of arias (through that of Papageno) so far, but it's clearly a labor of love. Are these these performers' voices? Interesting choice going with sung German but spoken English (ich selber ziehe gesprochenes Deutsch vor), but wonderful singing so far. EDIT: I see the singers here indeed recorded their parts at home. Amazing talent on display by all. I'm up to the presentation of the magic flute and glockenspiel.
