All I can think of Mr Lawyer is that you ought to put on a police uniform, a badge, and all the other accoutrements a police officer should carry and see how long before you begin wanting to search every little nook and cranny of clothing and body when you find yourself coping with the ignorant, doped up, violent, irrational masses on an hourly day to day basis.

When an officer treats a decent law-abiding citizen like a criminal at initial contact, because he is used to dealing with rif-raff, what opinion do the citizens that you are protecting now have of the police? It is the job of the police departments to make sure that the interaction with the public, in done lawfully, as well as with some professionalism being that the public is ultimately the one granting you authority over themselves in certain circumstances. I think all policing should be done under a sheriffs department. This gives more authority back to the people because the police would not be working for the towns attorneys and mayoral office, and a bad department can be voted out when the Sheriff runs for his term. In certain circumstances a sheriff can be removed.
