Delta loop. Cut for 40, resonant without a tuner on 40, 20, 15 and 10. Tunes up fine with a 10:1 tuner on all WARC bands. Feed with a 4:1 current balun at the feedpoint. MFJ balun is about $40. You'll need about 130 feet of wire. Less than $100 all in. You'll appreciate the lower noise floor.
again "if" its wider, and there still is an argument to be made about the station not identifying themselves properly that also is in the licensing test.
If your TX modulation was more than 2khz then you would be transmitting out band into 14.351. So he is not wrong. Maybe he was just looking out for you so you don't get a warning letter from Riley's VM team members.
without proof that it was out of it though there was little to say I was. And when I asked for clarification, he never came back. So I had no reason to believe that i was out of band other by a lid that refused to identify themselves on the radio like they were supposed to per FCC law.
@@K0BJJ Your right about identifying themselves. just remember most modern radio have a standard TBW of 3khz so being parked at 14.348 and then transmitting would put your SSB modulation over 14.350 thus making you out of band. Unless you turned your TBW down to 2khz or less then there would not be an issue but then you would be sounding like a chipmunk lol So what was the outcome.. did you get the park activated at least?
@@kg2mmhamradio yeah if you go to the full video i ended up getting like 50 contacts on 20 then i jumped to 17 and 15. my best DX day from the park to be honest
glad your still active... I've been a little side tracked with other hobbies as well.. one in particular is RC airplanes.. I've been out of the RC hobby for over 10 years and starting to play with it again.. Always some furry squirrel out there to get out attention.. Good luck on your new adventure... 73 ... k0klb
Thanks for stopping by Kevin. RC planes I used to be into that as well although all I managed was to make and crash my trainer and that was the end of that lol.
Hello from another Iowa ham, You are right about the repeaters , I drive for a living, so I am constantly scanning and never here a peep except for drive time maybe. I might be part of the problem, I rarely throw my call out except on my local machine. Need to make some noise I guess. HF, I love hunting Pota stations in the semi, just as much as I love checking into nets. There will always be some conflicts, but everyone seems to get along and make it work. There are the exceptions, the guys who sit on a frequency hrs before a net to keep it clear. or the station who refuses to QSY for an established net, leaving a bunch of people wondering where the net is. Enough of my babbling, hope to catch on the air K0otp Donnie
Well if your every by Newton give me a shout on 146.52 the W0WML or W0AIX repeater. That W0AIX repeater dosnt get near enough love and it has as good as rage as that one over in Grimes.
I feel you brother. Finances and life are sometimes depressing and debilitating. Putting sad hams on blast doesn't work. It just makes them sad ham harder.
Thanks for the shout out, Ben! Hang in there, and don't let the 🦃's get you down. What I've found is they have a short attention span - I ignore them and they move on. They thrive on attention - I don't give it to them. Keep doing you, and make time to have fun! 73
Sorry you are running into so much drama on the radio.. I’m on the HF bands (20m) most of the day and I’m happy to say I rarely experience much drama.. I hope it gets better for you soon. Thanks for sharing. 73.. k0klb
I did better by just going back to pirate radio. That said though this is more of an American problem, I used to echo link to local repeaters in the UK and Australia and it was way better. I guess they don’t inbreed as much there.
I've wanted to be one of the "activators" for Delaware, but again time is not working for me. I can't do this from home due to high RFI, so I'd go out to a park and do it. Double duty (SE & POTA). So if I did it this year, it could only be on Saturday or Sunday. But if any kind of garbage happened on the air from people starting to get rude or unhappy of how I'm running the show, I'd definitely shut the whole thing down and pack it up. 73 Ben!!!!
yea the DX Summit page was horrible. not to mention the Lids jamming the frequency. You and I are kinda used to that for the anti POTA crowd but still.
Mike Tyson said it best: "Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it." I agree, when Activating I don't have time to look at the spotting page - and it's not a messaging service anyway. Sad Hams have sad lives.
There's always going to be people out there that's going to act crazy and make comments that are not needed to be made. You have to over look them kind of stupid people. 73 AE4OY WILLIAM PEACOCK EM-81UF Blackshear, Georgia God bless you sir.
👋🏻 Morning Ben! Happy Fourth of July Weekend! Thanks for the reminder about the Thirteen Colonies - AND that I need to switch flags to the Betsy Ross! (Not a requirement, but a nice touch!) Hope you and the family have fun! 73
If you did need help, you could break into any QSO with priority. The worst day to actually have an emergency is when there is nobody operating. Field day might be the best day to have an emergency.
We're talking about the same people that cuss people out for using "their frequency" any other day of the week. Idk if they would give way for emergency traffic.
As a SW listener and radio hobbyist, field day is something I greatly look forward to *because the band is so saturated.* The world of radio isn’t just for emergencies!
I agree but from an EmCom standpoint it's a disaster. For someone who enjoys doing POTA also it's a disaster cause there's hardly any place to set up at. But your right for anyone who enjoys listing its amazing
Im 75 My aunts in law's father was one. He used it to play chess with ppl all over the world. He had been a telegraph operator form the age of 12 until he retired at 70. He got a self winding watch for his 90th Bday. He did not move enough to keep it wound but he was still playing chess. I learn how to play from him when we got snowed in in 1955 for 2 weeks. I lost to fools check i dont know how many times before I caught on. We played all day every day By the end of the 2 weeks i could go 15 moves without him mating me. By the time he pasted 5 yr later at 97 I could last twice that but he still always won. He never let me win. He said u learn by losing,
well Thank you for your Sub. Honestly it all depends what you want to do. Some people love getting on the air and just chatting with random people. I mean think about it it's the first worldwide Chat Room using atmospheric bounce "High Frequency" to do it. There's Parks On The Air that's a program that encourages operators to go out to parks and work a remote station. If you want to give back to your community there are programs to do that. Check out the playlists I have a little bit of everything, and if you have any questions just let me know.
@@K0BJJ thank you for your long reply and offers. I have used my brother's shortwave radio and love the concept of it, but found the programs boring. AM radio 📻 programs are my daily thing. Sadly our election season in America is 12 months too long. Do you know who Report of the Week is? He has a large RU-vid following and is also on SW.
