i always wanted portal 1 remastered in this way to make it feels right in the universe, the visual changes in p2 are good, and to be honest for me this is better tahn portal rtx, it odn't matter if portal rtx have better lighting if the elevators don't match the new standard set by portal 2.
I honestly think that this is a downgrade. Yes, it does look prettier. But that's the problem. It's supposed to be washed out in gray. Because the original portal had a more clinical aesthetic to it. Not a clean aesthetic. What I also dislike about remakes like this is that every single test chamber was selectable in the play new game area. Yes, this is more accurate to something like portal the flash version, but with portal the flash version you severely needed that as there was no save functionality. In Portal 2, you have saves, so chapters would be more warranted. You could literally copy-paste the chapters from Portal, and you would be fine here. Not to mention, the functionality of the gun has changed in between Portal and Portal 2. Essentially, portals are placed instantaneously in Portal 2, when in Portal they actually took a bit of time as they actively worked as projectiles. There are so many gripes that I have about Portal 2 and how Portal 2 handled the entire formula. To be clear, I'm not saying that we shouldn't have gotten a second game because what we did get was phenomenal. All I'm saying is that Portal should have been left alone in its original form factor. It's Kind of like how I hate remakes from Wii U to Switch. They always have to compromise on something. Unless it was specifically designed with the Wii U and Switch in mind, cough cough breath of the wild. But things like Super Mario 3D World completely break the formula and map design as the map design was designed for a more Wii U like playstyle and you can only really use touch whenever you're playing in handheld mode. Not to mention an entire Large set of levels depend on that touch screen. Online multiplayer is nice, but I'm waiting for someone to mod that into the Wii U version to make the Switch version completely irrelevant. Smooth our animations into warp pipes and decrease load times and stuff like that aren't really a problem. Sorry for going on a rant, but I'm just saying that sometimes things do not need to be remade. Now, Demakes on the other hand are fun, exciting ventures that I am more than happy to be a part of. Things like demaking portal onto the Nintendo 64 which happened recently. And demaking Mario 64 to work on the GBA. Both of these are exciting projects that I really can't wait to see come to fruition. But until that time comes, I will be trying to help out with development as much as possible for whichever is open source. I'm basically saying that I don't like this, and honestly, I'm going to watch this video with a huge helping of salt, knowing that it's running in Portal 2's engine. That being said, games like Half-Life Alex and remakes of certain games like Team Fortress 2 in Source 2 I believe would be a great upgrade. But that requires a complete remake of the entirety of the game and I don't think that anyone would be willing to do such a thing. We really should have learned from Conker's bad fur day on the Xbox. Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be done. Conker's bad fur day on the Xbox was supposed to be uncensored, but it turned out to be even more censored than the N64 counterpart, and the animations looked a lot more lackluster and less filled with life than the Nintendo 64 version. Once again, sorry for the rant, but I mean what I'm saying. Sometimes, remakes are completely unwarranted.

@@CraftMinerShortsYT ? I mean I don’t know but you could delete and reinstall portal I think that resets the client.ddl but it could also effect your game files and stuff
@@CraftMinerShortsYT challenge mode is too easy in Mel, and it's a puzzle game, when it's too hard the best thing is always to take breaks, and come back after.
WHAT'S THIS I FEEL SO CONFUSED WATCHING THIS AAAAAAA Btw the Escape sections looks kinda lame without that Portal 1 red/orange color pallete that makes the situation feel tense imo LOL
Tbh the chambers look worse. Portal 1 uses a stained concretes, and portal 2 tiles are too plain. Original campaign works because Portal 2 chambers are mostly black, but when you recreate the whiteness with portal 2 textures, it looks so plain The escape part though, is actually cooler.
While i can appreciate the novelty of this and how it makes it consistent with Portal 2, All it truly does for me is highlight just how tonally different the original Portal is from its sequel in aesthetic and story and how that was lost when developing Portal 2. Portal 2 is an amazing game but I always found it inferior to the original in that aspect.
