Amongst the Whiskey is your source for honest whiskey reviews.
Born in the early 90s as Nicholas Paul Anderson, 'Amongst' has always been a bit of a nerd. The son of a carpenter and an artist/musician, his life has intersected many passions, from the hands-on to the ephemeral. Some of those passions he's found through the many magical moments in the great outdoors: hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping, all of which were instilled from his time in Scouting. As a natural introvert, spending time outdoors is his ultimate recharge. He loves folk music, staring into campfires, misty cool weather, and sharing good whiskey with good people. He wholeheartedly believes anything worth doing is worth overdoing and will invest every ounce of his being in perfecting whatever he's set his mind to.
My families 1800’s graveyard is right next to a whiskey distillery called wild turkey distillery. None of us have been there but I found the family records online and traced it. I assume the land belonged to one of my grandfathers at one time since he owned over a hundred acres. So if their whiskey sucks blame my grandfathers ghost 😂
@@AmongstTheWhiskeysadly it’s lost to history. I know he had two sons and lived alone until he died, he left the property to his sons. His wife was never even mentioned in the documents so I don’t know her last name or what happened there. I’m sure it was a small area back then, if you know someone that was in the area around the 1870’s I’m sure they knew each other, it said he was wealthy and well known. Last names are Frazier, It’s not my blood name so I don’t mind sharing it.

I think it would’ve been a more fair comparison, if he would’ve started off with the lower proof 24a before the batch 12. Also, why not compare it to the last previous releases? Why compare it too what’s known to be the best batch?
@Yudinaru I did start with the lower proof 24A in the full video! I have also compared all the recent batches on my website. I have reviews of every batch from 12 until now done and they are neatly summarized in a single article if you google "the stagg bourbon hub" it should come up. Cheers!
As we spoke, I had to choose between another bottle of GTS 23 or this HHH18. I went with the latter. I won’t forget to mention you as soon as I post a worthy pic of it on Instagram. Thanks for your guidance, homie!
I have certainly grown to love Michter’s over my whiskey journey, but doubt I will seek out even a pour of this rare bottle. It was interesting to watch your review as it felt similar to riding a roller coaster. He doesn’t like it. Hey wait, he likes it now. Nope, it’s a little off putting. Hold on, he enjoys the marshmallow notes on the nose. Sure looked and sounded like a wild ride! Keep’em coming!
You absolutely nailed it. It is SUCH a fickle pour. I really did undulate between a love/hate relationship with every experience here. Day to day and even sip to sip. If you factor in the price, I'm sure you can easily decide on if it's a whiskey that is worthwhile to you. Thank you for watching & I definitely think Michter's is a brand to watch overall for the long haul!

Looking forward to finding one of these at a reasonable price. Rye is on fire this year and Michter’s knows what they are doing. As a side note, I agree that many people no longer appreciate reading. They want short snippets of what they need to know and then they move on to the next thing. While I enjoy these videos, I certainly enjoy your written reviews more. Keep them coming.
Thank you my friend! It is definitely worth picking up at MSRP. We are certainly in a rye renaissance and I'm glad to be on this whiskey journey with you! My written review is up now & certainly has some dichotomy to what was communicated here...
The only Australian whiskeys I’ve tried so far are from Starward. While I’m not sure I dig the “pizza” vibes, even though I enjoy pizza, will have to check out Morris.
