I am a very experienced art teacher for elementary, middle school, and first year of high school. I have a formal background in education with an endorsement in fine arts. I am an artist myself and I am passionate about free access to high-quality art education. This channel is meant to be a safe and welcoming space for people of all ages, skill levels, and artistic backgrounds, from beginners to advanced. This is a platform where I share tutorials and videos about a variety of media and techniques, and above all, my passion for art and creativity. So, welcome to my channel, I hope you'll feel at home!
Thanks for the feedback. Some of the brushes I love and use have a pretty long handle and, if I put the camera closer, I would bump into it all the time 😅
Ms. B I really enjoyed watching you make this mandala. It’s so pretty the colors you used and the movement of the lines. Then to top it off you made my favorite… polka dots! You are so cute to watch.
@@ArtwithMs.B (Sorry so long!) I can tell what your style is from watching your videos. You're actually teaching me that IT'S OK to paint flowers, leaves, etc. in "unconventional" colors, and that it will still turn out beautiful. Also not to put so much pressure on myself to "get it right" but rather to enjoy the process and accept mistakes. Most importantly TO FINISH what I've started no matter how I feel about the piece at the time. I recently painted something and really didn't like it after I finished. I found it in my sketchbook 2 or 3 weeks later and actually fell in love with it! I couldn't understand why I disliked it so much at the time it was finished! I think that so many factors can go into one's dislike of a piece (time of day, stress level, etc.) that you never truly know how you feel about it until you tuck it away and pull it out at a later date. You might just be surprised like I was!!
@@Councilof8for43 yes! Yes! Yes! Thank you so much for talking about your experience and your challenges. I am so glad that you are benefiting from my teaching. I am learning from your feedback and comments as well. I am truly grateful. Thank you.
Another great relaxing project to try! My new sketchbook is dedicated to only your channel. I can't wait to fill it up with all the amazing things I am learning!
I love these Talavera designs so much! I have been making a first copy in my art journal and a final copy on nice watercolor paper. I finally finished number four in my journal tonight, so I will do it on watercolor tomorrow and post them all to the Facebook group! I enjoy doing each design twice, especially following your rule of finishing what we start. This way, I can note any mistakes I made or perhaps wish I had done differently and do it on the second one. 😅
Amazing tutorial, the colors and the lines bring so much interest to this drawing🥰Thank you for all your insite into the why you make and build on the piece that keeps us coming back for more❤️
For this design I used extra fine Sharpies. Sakura Pigma Micron markers are also very good but way more expensive than Sharpies. Another good brand is Stafford Ultra Fine markers. I think you can buy all of these on Amazon or Michaels stores. Thanks for watching my videos 😊
Your use of colors is awesome! I espscially like the blue polka-dotted shadow behind the flowers! So glad we finally got to see the finished product! Did you mention that this was going to be a gift for a friend? I thought I remember reading that. Anyway, if so, they are going to love it! ❤
Btw, I changed my name and pic. And thats NOT a picture of me (Lord, no!!!) Its a very bad man we are trying to get banned from RU-vid for his "interest in minors" - if you know what I mean).
Thank you so much! Colors are truly important to me. It is strange that I use very intense color palettes in my artworks, but pretty neutral for house furniture and decor and clothing. 🤷♀️ I am glad you like it!
@@ArtwithMs.B I have been trying very hard to incorporate more color into my works. I tend to use a lot of neutral colors. My house is neutral also! I am almost finished with my 4th tile (I have been so busy lately). As soon as I complete the last one, I will post on the FB group for you to see!! 😄
Thank you for this. Been painting and drawing simply for years, this is just what i needed and it makes me smile. Also i the cactus story! I lived in desert for years and even the large SMOOTH LOOKING cactus pads are coverd with almost transparent thorns. I learned the hard way Not so smooth
I am glad it does! I mean, there are times and activities that require precision and measurements. For example I am studying calligraphy and you really need to line that paper properly. 😅 But whenever I can, I do free hand and I love all the tiny imperfections that give artworks so much personality.
I love it! I like to do watercolor backgrounds and then doodle on top of them. I paint during the day, and then at night when I'm in the living room with my husband, and he's watching tv, I doodle on the dried paintings. I always have several backgrounds waiting for doodles, so I picked one out and did your design on them, (minus the color in the flowers). Even though I've done the flowers and the lines on other pieces, I've never done an entire piece with flowers and those lines, and it turned out great! Thanks so much for the idea!
Omggg, I am trying really hard right now to not freak out. My tile was coming along AMAZINGLY well when all of a sudden, my phone cord ran across my page, dragging all my colors. Ughhh....deep breaths!! 😢😮 *sigh* I am trying to "embrace it," as you say, and work with the mess and continue without quitting. I'll let you know how it goes! 😅 It really was coming out pretty (I thought)!!!
Oh no… I am so sorry. Some accidents are more embraceable than others 😅 let me know if you were able to retrieve the design or you had to start over. Thanks for sharing 😊
Ms. B...FYI, when you first began and told us about the light lines being there, I couldn't see them AT ALL. I guess they were so light that the camera couldn't pick them up. So it wasn't confusing at all! 😊
Ok, so I want to ask about "fear." I just bought 4 new journals (2 - 3.5x3.5, 1 - 5x5, and 1- 4x8). I haven't been able to do ANYTHING in them. Prior to getting these, I was using a large watercolor pad and cutting pieces to whatever size I needed. So I have this fear of even STARTING in my crispy new journals! They have literally been staring at me for 2 weeks now, begging to be used, and every time I open one up, I stare at a blank page, then close it and put it away and grab my trusty watercolor pad. What the heck?!?!?! Does anyone else suffer from "new journal fear" or am I just a weirdo....lol 😂 P.S. I initially got the 5x5 to paint these Mexican tiles. I thought they would look lovely in a new journal rather than loose in my desk (like they are now). I know, I know, I'm weird!! 😂
I totally understand your feeling. It happened to me as well, mostly in the past, I am doing better now. But sometimes it would take me a while before I start to work on the journal just because I want to be 100% sure of what to put in there. I wanted it pretty! Once you do the first design, everything else will flow 😊
Thank you so much! The beginning of school is so busy for all of us, teachers, parents…😅 the struggle for adjusting to routines and schedules is real! Good luck to you as well 😊
