My favorite part of that saga was when they larped as foreign agents escaping china. Laowhy retold this whole epic story about how the police showed up at his house, and he got stopped by a border agent last minute before boarding a plane to hongkong (which is still in china) lol. Then he got exposed by Daniel Dumbrill as having went to the US and then back into mainland china again to sell his apartment. These grifters are absolutely pathetic.

I am Chinese American too, however i wasn't born in China. I grew up watching serpentza and laowhy in my teen and college years then however their show became more of anti Chiense- Not even about the govnerment but chinese people. This is digusting , i wish they talk more about their American life. It's not always great here either. There's many migrants and homeless people a balance approach is more fun.

I could not afford the care bc the ensurance didnt cover ..so i had to give her up to an god sent organisation who saved her life by gathering money to operation and care. They amputeed her right front leg. Im devestated but so Lucky she is alive and this calms me and brings me hope for her healing and future life ..

I started watching those motomuchachos about the same time, around late 2016, occasionally at first, because, well, why not, they kept showing up in my feed. And it was kind of interesting, just a different experience and perspective to my own, but one I could somewhat relate to as a westerner. I must have stopped watching sometime in late 2020 or early 2021. I probably would have stopped around then just from lack of interest, because, as said here, they were getting a bit monotonous. And in particular, the message seemed to lose nuance more and more. It was basically just that CPC/PRC SUCKS. How long can I keep my interest up for that? But what decisively pushed me over the edge was a couple of things said I little before I stopped watching. NBTW not sure, but I think Winston was the one who said both. One was that college education is basically a scam, and the specific statement in that was basically that, if you really found something difficult, you could figure it out just by watching some RU-vid videos. COME. THE. F*. *ON*. Hey, I watch an HELLACIOUS amount of video online. You can observe a lot just by watching, as the quip goes. But when I look back to my engineering classes in the Seventies, and the math, physics, and chemistry that led up to them, there is NO WAY I would have gained a solid understanding of those subjects without going full-time and immersing myself in college courses. It actually felt insulting for someone to make such a statement. I would even say this: If your chosen field of study is such that you can learn it from online videos, or even by going to school part-time, say in night school after work, then you probably have chosen too easy a major. The other statement, which may be even more ridiculous, definitely came from Winston. He said that mainland China had not made any significant inventions, and compared them to Taiwan. "Not one goddamned thing" is a direct quote. That is just ludicrous. He's telling me that an economy of somewhere between 15 and 20 trillion dollars, second only to the US, is not accompanied by ONE GODDAMNED THING that represents a significant invention. If you said innovation is not their strong point, I would certainly be inclined to agree. But the way he put it is just preposterous. I got to wondering how China and Taiwan compared WRT Nobel Prizes, just for one easy indicator. So I did a couple of minutes of looking, and for the year I found (I'm thinking 2019, but the exact year doesn't matter), PRC had 9, Taiwan had 1. That means Taiwan did far better on a per capita basis, but still, looking at that, and surely many other relevant stats, it's hard to make any reasonable case that there isn't real innovation in the PRC. If you want to go deeper, I suppose you could look at papers in journals, and trace the university affiliations of the authors. I have a feeling that would yield similar conclusions. That reminds me of many other examples of how the media has treated the enemy du jour. They're a mortal threat, but their technology is laughable in dozens of ways. It just doesn't add up. Anyway, that's the rise and fall of my interest in the motomuchachos. I can let a lot of things slide, but my tolerance for things that are complete nonsense is very small, and my confidence can be destroyed completely very quickly, even in a matter of seconds.

Thanks for this great series, mate. You're a great cat dad and Scully's a beautiful, strong kitty. We're gonna have to make a decision soon, I feel. Our boy fell and had a bad break- vet tried to fix it, but he's still in pain. this video gives me pause to think that being a tripod kitty is better than being one on four legs in pain. Scully's recovery is remarkable considering her age, too. Awesome.
@Y2J
@Y2J 2 месяца назад
Yeah have a talk to your vet as to whether your boy would be a suitable candidate for amputation. They actually cope quite well especially if they are younger. Scully was already old when she had it and she coped very well. Once they gave 3 legs. It is a disability...but... life isn't impossible for them. They can't run as fast...jump as high...less mobility. But going in and out catflap... toileting... eating... walking short distances around the home... all no problem for 3 legged cats.

when it comes to these two, I will give them credit where credit is due. These guys did learn Chinese while living in China and tried to immerse themselves in Chinese culture while living in China for as long as they did. I used to watch Serpentza because he had an interesting, and realistic take on China. I stopped watching his channel after him and Laowhy86 became too biased about negative stuff about China. To add some context, Im an ethnic Chinese living in the West, and I was born in China. (I visited China frequently after moving to the West) Here's my insight on China, you see, china is vast, and you have to keep that in mind when viewing China as a whole, along with the population within the country. the same in the Americas as a whole. I think you should question the news that you're consuming about Foreign countries for obvious reasons. Im tired of all the hypocritical views from both sides between the whole East vs West debate. every country has its pros and cons, and that's it.
@johnsamu
@johnsamu 12 дней назад
@@rainy905 I also did follow them from the early days. The problem I noticed is that at some point they expected the typical "this works like this in the West/USA" so it should work like this in China. They had no regards for the actual social or physical boundaries in China. For example complaining that they couldn't ride around in military restricted areas in China on their bikes. Try to THAT same thing in the USA...good luck.

Some people talk about politics for a career (the old fashion talk radio or newspaper) and there is nothing wrong with that. Others get burnt out overtime and want to do something else that is totally understandable. Political commentators rarely have real big solutions for problems, as they are not politicians. Although they may influence the politicians. It is hard to come up with an alternative solution it is very complex. Although that shouldn't mean we shrug our shoulders and stop talking about it. To me Winston and Matt are passionate about the topic. It is a job for them and they would need to switch off as well like we all should. It is a very heavy topic. I can also understand Free China's being conflicted. I agree with your points try not to compare yourself too much to others, but it's human nature right? We are competitive by nature. Even the "shills" compete with those two as "China" experts. Agree with you, China is different from Russia / North Korea . Mainland China is still an important part of the puzzle to keep things working in western countries from a manufacturing standpoint. To me we could be seeing/living through fascinating parts of history where a regime like China is trying to control narrative globally via using technology. This great experiment of the internet is evolving our lives, global politics and no doubt China is trying to be at the forefront of this. The great firewall of China is one of a kind and is important for the CCP to keep this going. Hopefully we can keep the conversation moving in the other parts of the world for the foreseeable future.

I've come to learn that neither of them have much knowledge on what they speak beyond the personal. You'll never see intellectual content because they're both blockheads. Of epic proportions. And not very morally sound ones at that. They're just doing this to capitalise on what they have left. Which is knowledge of Mandarin, connections to China and experience there. That's it. I'm sure there were good intentions and maybe there still are to some point. But it will never go beyond the superficial drama-type news. Because they're both extremely ignorant and naive, and this is how they earn money. They're like puppies. Put them in a bag and that's their entire world. They take everything else for granted, basically. No real knowledge besides their experiences is to be had there, sadly. And these days, it's just them mocking China extensively and very tiringly, and drawn out. Every little thing will be farmed until it's unbearable. It's cringe af. And really too bad. Because they only end up deligitimising anything they've done that was actually informative and good.

I like how honest you are - I personally continue watching them, but we need more open discussion like this. The China, political, issue is a difficult one. And it doesn't make my days better thinking about what's going on there, that's for sure. It's quite dark and worse than most people in the "west" can even imagine. The China Show keeps me updated to a certain degree as I am personally affected by all things going on with China and is to a big degree more real than what majority of western media is willing to publish. I agree, that they became way more political over the years and that this is not always easy and refreshing. Of course a continuous political focus reduces the quality for their content. That's natural and hard to avoid given the topics they showcase besides their personal history and situation. I personally also don't agree with everything each one of them says or even like their every opinion. Their work is important for me to keep somewhat on top of things as even living in Asia, Asian's tend to see things through an Asian point of view, filtered by culture and upbring. So some points that are more interesting to me would not be prioritized or mentioned at all.

The main problem is, how they approach this, it discredits everything they did in the past. It also gives a bad taste and doesn’t help their credibility. And because we cannot validate what they’re saying, it is super important that they build their reputation, but it instead deteriorates over the past couple of years. Every video seems like a next level frustration rant that increase with every video they publish.

Our cat is 13. Your videos have actually helped me convince my family to give him a chance and to amputate his entire paw and shoulder blade with the tumor. Vets were telling us it's like 10% he'd live through it. It was long but without any complications. Even though it's been just a couple of days, his recovery is amazing - we can see him purring, eating more, having fun - something he had abandoned shorty before surgery. He was ready to go, but now he's totally ready to stay a while longer. Each case is different, sure, but hope and faith in your furry friend is a powerful thing :) He's senior, and his time will come, but it makes all the difference to see him being himself again and free of cancer consuming his little body. Thank you for the vid. It has literally changed lives (plural).
