I bet he played music beautifully , it's very unfortunate that through this amount of time we still don't understand mental Health to a degree that would help anyone. This man seems to just have been functioning on a different level, where music , piano was his outlet, his voice. Everyone should keep in mind that these "Interviews " are of patients highly medicated , it's likely he was much more unstable and no one knew what to do to help him function.. This hurts me. I sincerely wish I could've heard his music.

There’s so much to address here. First let me say that he was being treated in this video with meds. Without the medication his mood ranged from complete delusion to catatonic. His seeming obsession with piano came and went as did obsessions with religion, especially the Catholic Church and government. As far as I know he couldn’t play a lick. He was very ill at his best and a living shell at his worst. I hope that answers some questions because that’s all I have to say on the matter. He’s been gone since the late eighties and I really hope that other members of my family don’t see this video, mostly because of the comments from people that somehow think they understand him better than the people who suffered with him. One last thing, I think people thought that he was talking about sitting or standing effeminately or something. No, he was talking about sitting or standing motionless for hours. The story about this guy is that he comes from a better off home, his dad tried very hard to get him treatment and to get better but nothing worked and so this hospital where he's at is actually quite expensive and he would remain here until he dies. Despite his fantasies about playing the piano for the people and teaching the piano, he could not play the piano and had never played even once in his life. he doesn't deserve this and to be videoed he is a human too, no one can help how they were born or what there genetics came to be. i was put in sped my entire childhood because i was dyslexic and they didn't want to deal with it, they almost got sued and then tried to help me just a little bit . the exploitation even when i was 6 years old was so tormenting i wanted to die before i knew what death was, i didn't even understand it was a bad thing because i was 6 years old and just wanted to stop hurting. my situation is so so mild compared to his but i know this man did not deserve this. recorded or not he deserves to feel loved and not like a outcast. ANYONE that grows up and is told that over a period of time that there not good enough will start to believe people. if he's "not mentally well" then y the hell r they letting him be recorded to show the whole world. he is a man that is confused and scared as anyone would be. sorry to rant but this infuriates me, he's not a caged animal the zoo, if special needs people get help for the rest of there lives and no one bats a eye, y is this poor man there left by himself. i understand if it was violence but to make someone think there not good enough and live with that and be put in a cage is repulsive, i hate this damn system.
