We at Dr. Feiz & Associates strive to give patients not only desired cosmetic results but also the health benefits that come with weight loss surgery. Severe obesity can lead to a shorter life and many potentially life-threatening health problems, often referred to medically as comorbidities. Scientists have shown that those struggling with severe obesity are twice as likely to die an early death as someone who is non-obese. Conversely, with treatments that effectively fight obesity, patients have a greatly increased chance of enjoying good health and a longer life.
We have a number of different procedures available for patients that are ready for a lifestyle change. To find out more about the very latest in weight loss medicine, please contact Dr. Feiz & Associates below:
I have a hiatal hernia and my BMI is in the 40% percentile, I at first wanted the sleeve but now I think the bypass will be more beneficial to me! What do you think?
This is just marketing BS. A VSG is a VSG there's nothing different hes doing other than doing the sleeve on people who have a lower BMI than what the insurances cover and they pay out of pocket.
I am a patient of dr.Fiez and I can tell you first hand beans were easy on the tummy and helped give me the protein I needed when the shakes weren’t going down smoothly for me It’s been 11 months since my surgery and I’m down 130 lbs and I have continued a healthy amount of beans in my daily eating routine !
It's common to have a low appetite for 4-6 months post-surgery. Keep drinking liquids and reach out to your surgeon or primary care physician if you're struggling to eat 2-3 meals a day. Have more questions? Drop them in the comments below! 🩺 #DrFeiz 📬 DM us! 📞 310-855-8058 💻 drfeiz.com

I really feel like this is what I have....I've been diagnosed with pancreatitis and its soooooo painful but i have more sympyons of this than pancreatitis....
While I would never recommend anyone go against the advice of their own doctor, I like hearing what other surgeons have to say. I might extend one period/phase of food based on some research (like this), although I would never shorten the period/phase of time my doctor suggested. Just had my surgery on 12-21-2023. Just got to the 2nd phase 2 days ago - although I am not taking full advantage of it and feel like I am still in Phase 1. Baby steps.
I'm 6 days post op (VSG) and my timeline looks a little different. I can start purees at week 3 and gradually move into "soft" foods by week 5. My pre surgery program was 6 months so i had a lot of time to research. It seems every hospital system/weight loss program is a bit different with their requirements, it's interesting.
Every hospital system is different, you're right. We wouldn't recommend rushing your body back into solid foods while your body is trying to heal. It will also be important in the long run for long-term weight loss as you reprogram your mind on food portions.
I went on Ozempic for 6 months for weight loss under a clinician. Lost about 17 kgs then the world wide shortage happened. I went away on holidays for 4 weeks over the summer and I regained most of the weight back on! I regret it 😢 £200 a month
Thanks for sharing your story! The boom of Ozempic has caused a lot of unqualified physicians not specializing in weight loss to prescribe these medications without properly informing patients that without a lifestyle change, once you go off of the medication, the hunger will come back and unless you've trained your body with eating smaller portions and regularly exercising, many fall back into those old unhealthy habits. The medication is a step to help you towards a lifestyle change, not a magic pill that will allow you to continue an unhealthy lifestyle.
We guide our patients to have a liquid diet for the full first month to aid in your recovery and to wean you into the new lifestyle. It'll be hard at first because you're used to eating bigger portions till we reprogram your brain.
@@drfeizandassociatesyeah i made i mistake i had keto bread with turkey and protein cheese but i think i got an obstruction. definetly regretting it. i thought the bread was ok because it wasn't getting me sick
@@kingkobrazx You need to be on a very strict diet to have the best results. Remember you paid for this procedure and if you don't adhere to the guidelines, it's all going to waste. Take care of yourself! Wishing you the best! 🙏
@@drfeizandassociates do u know when i can have diet soda pomegranite and watermelon? i got both pomegranite and watermelon today and just breaded food like chicken tenders and bread, i said i had keto bread cheese and turkey but on my sisters wedding i had some cake some mantu dumplings and rice nothing got me sick for a second i thought i had an obstruction but will just see with the doctor i also had chicken tenders and fries day before yesterday i still keep my protein goal i still exercise like everyday i am getting rapid weight loss which is kinda crazy
@@drfeizandassociates thank you for answering me btw my surgeon just abandoned me she never told me to comeback and when i talked to her she just said a few words and left lol never answered my questions, also kinda regreting this surgery i ate unhealthy before but was about to lose weight
I think people need to realize that it still takes dedication. They can still get fat again and if they don't have the dedication to live a healthy life they will end up in the same position again! I know someone that has had weight loss surgery more than once and always gains it back!
💯 This is something I preach to all my patients. The weight loss surgery helps them get to their goal. But it’s up to them to maintain that weight loss through regular diet and exercise. It really is the first step towards a lifestyle change, not an easy fix and you’re done with it. Obesity is a complicated, life-long condition that requires oftentimes a multidisciplinary approach to overcome.
Month!!!! I’m 3 weeks post op and I’m on solids rn i find it kinda hard to keep down so I stick to the mashed stuff but my hospital says week 2 begin with solids! I’m from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 btw
Oh, wow! Yes that is waaay too soon in our opinion. Month 1 should be all liquids, month 2 all pureed foods and once month 3 rolls around, you can switch to solids. It helps in your recovery so you can heal optimally and wean your body slowly back and help in your weight loss.
My sleeved failed. I only lost 35kg in 14 months. I wish I had bypass. I’m so upset and I’m still fat. I don’t want to be fat anymore, and I hardly eat any food at all. I don’t understand how I’m still fat when I barely eat
Hi Tatty, I'm so sorry to hear that. I agree with you that if a sleeve does not work, a gastric bypass could still be a good option for you. Obesity is a disease that often requires a multi-modal approach. It's not just about the surgery but also about changing your lifestyle. If you have more questions, we're happy to help!
