Some of the original lead vocalists and musicians that made up the “Choir’s Choir” affectionately known to most as just “The Tommies,” originally under the direction of the late trailblazer, Rev. Milton Brunson, can still be seen and heard through the vision of Darius Brooks who reassembled former members of the famed *"Thompson Community Singers" and put them together again to form THE TOMMIES REUNION.
With the release of their NEW CD/DVD, churches from around the world will have the opportunity to draw from a catalog that has provided gospel treasures, such as; Safe in His Arms, For the Good of Them, He Cares, My Mind’s Made Up, There Is No Way, Great Things, He’s Still Good, Over and Over, Rest for the Weary, The Holy Ghost, Available to You, If I Be Lifted, He’ll Make It Alright, God’s Got It, and Lord I Believe, just to name a few.
This waz absolutely an excellent presentation, so polished and blessed. . . Lady Tina Watson-Conley. You have the most skilled voice! Thompson Community Singers are still amazing. ❤
I love the concept of this song but Darius Brooks's best singing days are far behind him. His voice is just not like it used to be at all. The song he led for Reverend Milton Brunson back in the day called "If I Be lLfted" is arguably one of the best-led songs in gospel music history. That was Darius Brooks at his absolute best. Now it sounds like his vocal texture has taken a hit over the years. I think you should focus on writing great songs like he's done for many years and leave the lead singing two others who can give Justice to the songs. No criticism it's just a sincere observation.
Love this song. The Tommies sound fantastic, and Tina is still one of the best lead vocals for a choir. She has taken excellent care of her instrument. Her voice is so pure and anointed.
The Tommies were my wife and I choir back in the day when Rev Brunson was alive. My wife and I would always attend the musical on Central at Brunson's church. Man those were the days. When things change for choir after Brunson's death I was so hurt. This choir ministered to me on so many levels. Love me some Tommies and I pray they stay together, because they are certainly an impactful group of singers.
When I was a teenager and in my early 20s and 30s I went to the Tommy's Musical at the Tabernacle church and my uncle was one of the lead singers for the original Tommys Rev.Wendell Lowe Beast song on no man is an island you can look it up
It is on our project that was released in Feb 2019. If you get a chance, check out the whole project. There are some impactful songs that haven’t really been heard yet. I pray it blesses you.
