That is sort of like a crash hihat, right? That seems like it would play well with a double kick (one hand snare and hat crash, other hand for polyrhythm, feet alternating between the hihat and double bass? Idk. Tbh, I am a guitarist and novice percussionist who respects and tries to understand the modern drums.
These are a very cool set of stanton Moore Hihats. check out some of his videosand his uses. all the above you mention re applicable. Love the sound of these for sure- very adaptable. thanks for looking- hope to help.
@@SoulDrumsLtd I promise you I have no affiliation with the product, yet have you see those single foot "double bass" pedals for drums? A solid jazz drummer can approach the same result with a heel/toe method + bounce, on a single kick...yet that still seems interesting for some styles.
You seem like a drummer who would really enjoy some of that obscure psychedelic rock from Peru. My memory fails me, and I forget any of the specific bands yet they dabble in some very specific ideas as well if I am remembering correctly.

You wanna know something funny? I found an Avedis in my garage a few days ago, and i have been using it for the past week. The thing was from the late 90's, and it sounds really good for a cymbal that hasn't been used for like 20+ years.
Hi Nils, We are so glad you enjoyed Altaf's rhythm - it is an example of the depth of 6/8 grooves played in African and World Beat music. This groove is something that he has developed from multiple parts and applied to drum set. He teaches these concepts here and online private lessons are available. Please visit www.souldrums.com and possibly register for a months lessons with him. He would love to share these concepts further if your interested.
