The apps I use usually have notes you can attach to bookmarks so you can add additional text. There should be something like this in the kobo app so you'll shouldn't have to use the notebook app.

I’m in the middle with content, and trigger warnings; because to me at the preferred age range should be good enough. I grew up without those warnings, and I feel like I can judge if it’s not the book for me; or if it’s not the tw/cw that I want to read. Although at the same time I understand why they are needed, but I feel they spoil or could potentially spoil plots in the story. Like just as a semi ok example, let’s take Harry Potter; and it’s themes. If it said mysterious monsters like a snake or blood and gore; I’d potentially wouldn’t be interested as I originally was. Partly because I ether didn’t want to read it at the time, or I got spoiled enough of the idea of what the main plot is going to be about; but nowadays I’d already have a preconceived notion of what I’ll be reading. Yet as a child, I’d be saddened to know what might happen; and it’s basically no fun for most readers kid or adult alike. I guess I think it depends on the severity of themes, that I’d consider adding those warnings; but shouldn’t be for everyone or everything. I’m a bit more ok with it in movies, than books.

I remember the fons, ironically it’s partly one of my many nicknames. He’s a awesome actor, and it’s sad you didn’t like it much; also the same with the history category. History from many pocs, and non pocs is important; but i understand it’s not your cup of tea.

Hi there, I'm wondering 1. Have you read Anxious People by Fredrik Backman (and, if so, your thoughts?), and 2. Where can I find your full thoughts on Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir?
@PlantBasedBride
@PlantBasedBride 11 часов назад
I haven’t read Anxious People! I’ve read Beartown and have plans to read more Backman, though. I didn’t read PHM for a reading vlog but I have a written review on Goodreads! I also talk about it a bit in my “giving overrated authors one more try” video, but only for context as to why I picked The Martian for the video (that’s linked in the description box) ❤️

I really loved this video, but will also add that I love the fact that it came out at this time of year. At the end/start of the year, there are SO MANY ‘what I read’ or ‘books you should read’ etc that it’s difficult to find good recommendations through the year outside of that. So I liked that this came out with little explanations of why you recommend them at this time of year ❤

Aw yay, I’m glad to hear this! I was feeling like my technical difficulties meant I was posting this too late to feel relevant, so I’m really glad to know it was still useful and actually kind of a nice time for it!

this is a particular thing and sorry if it offends you but when talking about Zamyatin and My you say "Soviet Russia" while meaning USSR. I'm from that region and I always hear foreigners say that which is just incorrect as Soviet Russia was just one of the countries in the USSR and doesn't equate to the whole union. might seem like a silly thing to point out but it just kinda erases the rest of us and makes people from other countries think that Russia = USSR
@PlantBasedBride

Thank you for mentioning this! I didn’t know that. I’m certainly not offended- there’s a lot more I don’t know than what I do know and I’m always open to learn ❤️

I like it ends with us on the fact that a lot of people are questioning Ryle's actions from the beginning, it's good that we're questioning what abuse is and why we romanticize those behaviors. Someone healthy, from chapter one it says, that man is a red flag. People who don't may be questioning it now with all the comments.

Excellent video, Elizabeth. It’s funny, but I have just DNF 100 years of solitude…interesting how a book can be adored or hated at the same time…anyway, for me Tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow is an amazing book (I cried a lot), Legends and Lattes was just ok, nothing special. And Never let me go and Normal people were quite good. As an idea…what about ranking the 5 stars books of the past five years?

Prefaces: I don't own an ereader. I know Amazon isn't the best company out there. I wanted to provide my thoughts on a less expensive option for annotating. I use the Kindle app to read most of my books; it's free and compatible with a lot of formats. I get a lot through my library's Libby app and since I don't own the books, read a lot, and can't normally get it back right away, I use Notion to organize and store my notes outside the book. I've created a four-color highlight system I use throughout all my books to simplify my annotations. I don't have a way to annotate directly on the text, but I can add typed notes as needed. Personally, I find notes most helpful to use with workbooks I've borrowed. You can also bookmark the pages as you see fit. Before I return the book, I export my notes to Notion. Some publishers set a limit on how much of a book you can export of the actual text, but the chapter, page, highlight color, and notes are all included in the export.

I have a Kindle Paperwhite. I go through and highlight during the first read, like you do. Paperwhite is black and white, so no color options. There are note options though when you highlight something. However, once I've read what I need to read, I can pull up the Kindle desktop app or the Kindle mobile app on my phone to change colors and add more/better notes. Also, from these apps, I can copy and past information over to my Notion database. I may use all or some of these options, depending on what I'm reading and why. Thanks again for a useful video, Elizabeth. Now I'm itching for an upgrade with a stylus and colors.

I just got my Kobo Library Colour today! I loved this video it was so helpful. I’m new to the Kobo ecosystem as I’m a huge kindle girlie (I own the paperwhite sig, oasis, and Scribe) but this device looked too good to pass up. I figured two ecosystems are better than one. I got so much understanding from your video of not only annotations (new to that as well! I used my Scribe mainly for journaling and word searches) but how to work this device in general! Thank you for your tips! Can’t wait to put them to use <3

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who just can't stand Brené Brown's works... They always feel so surface level to me, filled with anecdotes from her own life and those of the people she worked with that just aren't that interesting to read about. 🤷🏻‍♀️
