When the dogs reach approximately 2 years of age, they return to the Can Do Canines facility for final training. Before that, they spend time with Raisers within our network of volunteers, and they also spend time with our partner programs with local prisons and colleges.
@@candocanines Ty so much! I have a 1 year old black lab I am working with for a service dog... In Canada they help owners train their own dogs and do the testing... She has aged me but my dog has already saved my life. Love what you do for people. So brilliant!
Blaine the assistance dog is wearing a Petsafe Gentle Leader. It is a no-pull headcollar designed to help improve walks. It is vet-recommended and designed by a veterinary behaviorist! Dogs still have a full range of motion while wearing this headcollar, and can drink, eat, pant and even catch his favorite toy!
Yes sometimes it is and this especially hits home for me as I too am disabled (different disability than this)but there’s a lot of hope and great moments as well if you just look for them,it’s ok to be sad but pity doesn’t help trust me. I hope to get myself a SD one day bc they are incredible.
I'm happy to see my heart dog, Annie (the aussie holding the newspaper in her mouth) still graces the wall of the main area, now framed by a beautiful dog house!
I think Labradors are the best dog. They're friendly, loyal, protective, helpful, and about everything you could want in a dog. I've had two mixed Labradors. Hoping to get another one sometime 🙂. I'm so glad you have your dog by your side.
Every year Labs are the #1 most popular dog in USA. I raised 3 Lab pups for a Guide Do/Service dog non profit. I ended up adopting 2 of them ....great dogs
So wonderful. I Love my Service Dog Finn. He is a Miniature Schnauzer mix. I owner trained him but I am too ill and Disabled to teach everything. And I don't know how to train certain tasks. Anyway I love your Graduation videos. They show how a life can be saved. Literally. 💜🐾💜🐾🦮🦮
Wish there was more programs like this! In Ireland there are no charities for those with pots or hypermobility. Hopefully one day in the future a program like this will become available in Ireland
