Dont know why this showed on my feed being so old but i got my t420 in 2012 i think thing still works everyday.. i put 16gb ram a 256gb msata hd fot the ultra bay removed the old platter hds now i have two 1tb ssds in raid . Also have ext life battery. Think imma upgrade the cpu and monitor panel next.. wish i could upgrade the gpu in mine its not good at all

Thank you for this. I did the RAM upgrade a few hours ago on this laptop from 32GB (16 x 2) to 64 GB (32 x 2, Crucial DDR4-3200, 1.2V SODIMM) but the machine is now taking longer to boot - are there any special BIOS settings to verify? The Windows RAM test came back all good.

I spent many years using laptops with the NumPad and trust me the offset keyboard does become really annoying and there's no real need for one I think it would have been better if they relocated the speakers on the Lenovo t580 similar to the t530

I've replaced Samsung 970 Evo to Hynix P31 Gold in my Dell Latitude 7490 and got +2 hours battery life (11-12 instead of 9-10). I personally do not recommend to install Samsung drives into any laptop with a long battery life, except you are ok to make it shorter and ok your laptop will be a little hotter. Try Hynix P41 Platinum instead of Samsung 980 Pro.

Does Lenovo not provide a "restore" media anymore? You used to be able to order a USB stick which would restore your laptop to factory settings on a new SSD so you don't have to manually install anything.
