I can't name just one so here is my shortlist of players I grew up admiring. Ronaldinho, Bergkamp, Pirlo & Zizou. It's such a shame that these kind of players are a dying breed. Football won't be the same without the magic of these kind of players.

I was there in Germany for the 2006 World Cup. Witnessing the euphoria with this World Cup was one of the best experiences in my traveling. I've been to 3 World Cups and the one in 2006 was the best.

the point that argentina is a relativly young country and thats why football is so important there is not valid. i live in a country with a history of over 1000 years ( germany) and football has the same impact here. atm there is the euro 2024 going on and we just thrashed scotland 5:1 and there is this suspense in the air, just because of the football. you can feel it on the streets ( although, you have to break it down to german standards - we are not made up of passionate people like argentina, that derives from italians and so on, we derive from people from the north, where its cold xD), but just this one game is having a feelable impact.

IMO German resurgence started at 2002 FIFA World Cup. I will always remember their first game when they beat Saudi Arabia 8-0. Their run in 2002 was magical to watch. Supporting Germany then was wonderful! The journey for the 2006 World Cup started then.
As a German I see myself as the epicenter of tolerance, I love to see Germany win, but I can also accept one of the other 22 teams coming up on top, except England, that's where I draw the line
