Bullying is not cool. Needlessly aggressive, no emotional understanding. Well, that's Autistic disorder. Cool, ok, sure. But why are they so unlikable? Screaming to get attention, ew just ew. Manhunt was a better game 😂
I played this, I beat it, all because I wanted to know what their hatred for JFK was. Not only do I still not know that, I ALSO want to know what was UP with the Robert Frost quotes. IS THIS GAME OKAY?
I’ve watched play throughs of this game, and a part that stands out to me was at some point you have the choice to save a dude, and if you do he rescues you. But if you don’t, he still rescues you. This is a game about choices- yet we don’t get to make choices.
I like how they decided to rhyme the song with *airborne, newborn, dustborn and new porn.* Genuinely surprised they didn't use words like Unicorn or Thorn or Torn or Return or Burn....
Horn. Mourn. Scorn. Worn. So many words to rhyme with instead. Doesn't help that the rest of the song is equally disgusting and uncreative. What an embarrassing product.
I love the amélie reference also, i fucking hate i paid for this. the EU is just fucking us over with stupidity, what's next, a chat control bill? So I won't be even able to tell my friends not to play this shit without getting swatted in 2039. Editing the edited comment again, your jokes r funny as funny as it gets, I wanna watch a lot more of u now
The game is just mediocre and bland, and I don't mind having politics in a game (in fact my favourites include MGS and Fallout, to name a few) but please this thing really needs to learn a thing or two about NUANCE. Even progressives dislike it for being so on-the-nose.
Same, Fallout is my eternal favorite but it actually has likeable characters, and nuance even amongst characters like the ghouls and the Chinese soldiers. Dustborn, in contrast, is like a sledgehammer. 😑🤦🏾♀️
Man. I am early. But yeah, great video! I dunno why, but this feels like it shares traits like Yiik. Awkward pacing. Awkward setting. And nuances in culture setting that gets lost overall. I think pragmatics wise, the more scholarly someone is, the more likely they are going to criticize things with does. Like how awkward corporate things can be. Or chan posters. Dustborn is weird. Like it should be my thing; but it alienates me, the curious researcher of LGBT things. Or now, LGBTQ now.
I mean, visually it is pretty amazing I don't really get where the controversy and hate comes from Yes, there are no substantial "story", but not every piece of media needs a story
I agree on the fact that you don't need a story to have some spooks, but just so you understand, that's not the only criticism the urban gets, the main reason people hate it because of the quite a bit of SA and random cases of zoophilia included in the series.
I use to play the heck out of this and the SW Battlefront games on my PSP. The was a really good ARPG with tons of content for a PSP title. Perfect, No. But It's one of the few PSP games I looked forward to playing during trips to grandma's house and vacation.
Honestly, shoddy writing aside, I think The Painter gets way too much negativity thrown its way for a series that's not even that bad. There's still a lot of good aspects that this series can stand on, yet most people would overlook. Besides, I know plenty of analog horror series that are much worse than The Painter, yet no one says anything about them.
I played this back when it was "commercially relevant," and loved it. Cool that you covered this game, as I never see anyone talking about it. It comes up in conversation more for me just because of the price it commands these days, but I rarely have an opportunity to talk about it outside of that. I hate that we have to critically review games so dramatically these days, as if every game needed to follow 100% strict standards in every category. I loved the idea of just immersing myself in whatever experience I was getting myself into regardless of quality dips in certain aspects, because chances were, there would be highs in other aspects of the game that I'd either never, or at least rarely experience in others that were more critically acclaimed.
I've always look at this game in awww as a child. Now in my 30s I walked into a GameStop yesterday and I picked it up used for $15. And I'm having a blast right now. Had to pull out the backwards compatible PS3 for this one.
Me and a friend of mine used to play this in the early 2000, this game was extremly good, underrated i'd say. Once the anime remake of Dororo released and i watched it. I remembered that game again. People who didn't played this but liked the anime are truely missing out.
Never heard of this one, pretty interesting. The CGI cutscenes (?) look pretty amazing actually. Overall great atmosphere, would have definitely played this back then.
US complete copies rival Rule of Rose pretty hard on price. Back when I was very invested in collecting games, Blood Will Tell was only $30 while Rule of Rose already commanded the higher prices (albeit maybe only around $200 at the time). I'm not sure what caused Blood Will Tell to start going for $400 ~ $600 regularly, but it's safe to say I won't buy it again, despite it being one of my favorites on the system
