@@ryansmall5750 i'm still trying to tell you that reverend Cleveland infected his stepson with HIV during the gospel music workshop of America's conventions when he was still alive.
Edna tatum has one of the best voices in the gospel music industry. Does anybody know what church this is i dont think that this is cornerstone baptist church
this was Reverend Cleveland's last group that he recorded with before he transitioned. The messenger started going on tour in 1983 although they were organized on October 2, 1982. According to an interview with business manager: mother Natalie Cleo Harris , Harris states that the first rehearsal was on October 2, 1982. Harris also stated that there were 75 people present at the first rehearsal.
Pastor, Elder Eugene Bryant, you are missed sooo much. Thank you for your love, loyalty as a friend n mentor, and all of the wisdom you imparted my way to help make me the woman I am today. I love you Pastor. Rest well in Heaven King. 💙
Don’t forget Mrs. loud in the crowd Johnny Pearl. All right this person all right that person. Every James Cleveland event, or GMWA event in LA, she’s always there. That’s what I call loud in the crowd
Come to the National GMWA Convention and you will hear our young people sing this. They do this song on Good Ole Days night. And the place is PACKED on that night.
That’s my pastor talking. The lake great Reverend Eugene Bryant new Philadelphia missionary Baptist Church. The person who was talking about all of the memories of the Cleveland singers, that was my pastor. RIP Reverend Bryant, he will be dearly missed.
There will never be another Rhodena Preston, or Edna Tatum. I just like seeinf Rhodena hands glide across ivory and the sound of the keys saying the words. I will always remember Edna's eloquent voice and her perfected speeches.
Did you know that there were a lot of gay homosexuals and lesbians in that church? The Bible says if a man lay with another man it’s in the abomination.
Christian Scott Sorry, it’s been about 10 years since this was recorded. I have forgotten the gentleman’s name. He played for the LA Messengers and I haven’t seen him in a while. I’ll ask Pastor Quincey Fielding, Jr. when I see him what his name is.
The lyrics posted by Aresmall are the lyrics as sung by the GMWA Los Angeles Chapter (the chapter of the late Rev. James Cleveland) currently and also recorded the night of the Aretha Franklin Amazing Grace album over 45 years ago. The original lyrics and even a couple choirs that recorded the song are slightly different, but the LA Chapter version is what really made the song popular and as stated are still presented as such every year at the GMWA convention.
When I worked at the only 24hr gospel radio station in LA I was asked to train a lady, I didn't know her but there was this song I had learned called It Shall Be Done and while I was training her I played the song and began to imitate the announcer in the beginning of the song, she laughed and laughed knowing I had no idea it was I was the only DJ left from when the station was secular I didn't know gospel nevertheless God strategically place Edna in my life and she was there when God transformed me we become sisters in Christ...... I'll never forget her
But did you know Reverend James Cleveland infected his stepson, Christopher Harris , Cleveland with aids? You didn’t know that. They didn’t tell you that at cornerstone did they.
I remember that song when the choir was marching in. At Cornerstone Institutional Baptist Church. From Washington and West Blvd to Slauson and Western Ave. Those was the good ol days. RIP Rev James Cleveland
The incomparable Rodena Preston is once again reunited with her mother, brother (Billy Preston), friend, Edna Tatum, and James Cleveland. She was a Rolls Royce of a woman, and a Bentley of Gospel Music. Most of all, she is redeemed and now with the Lord! Rest in heaven.
No, it’s not him. The gentleman is really good, and I guess kind of looks like him from a distance (well, same complexion anyway) - but no, it was not him. 🙂
