This scene justified the entire existence of *The Jeffersons.* Even Maude never used that word to refer to white people. She WAS white people. She was what happens when white people tried to make up for the sins of other white people.
I'll accept that Dorothy Zbornak was the most annoying, self-centered character on TV until Dr. Sheldon Cooper came along. She was a horrible woman, but Bea Arthur was always good at playing that.
This scene is included in the DVD's and unedited seasons of the Golden Girls that I purchased here on RU-vid. Hallmark, TV Land, and Country Music Television has edited this scene out for some reason. I remember when the Golden Girls were on Lifetime they kept this scene in. I laugh so hard every time I see this scene.
@@artandcard Within the past twenty years, Brooklyn has been gentrified (i.e., influx of affluent residents/businesses). It's become a popular destination for rich, young hipsters.

You like that line, too? When the other girls return Dorothy's criticisms with a snide remark of their own, I applaud them. The "socially acceptable as Brooklyn" line gets me smiling all the time.
Sometimes I wonder if is possible, The Golden Girls could be a film, names like Diane Keaton, Annette Benning, Rita Moreno, Bette Miller to name a few have the comic chops to make it work by giving respects for the originals and a sprinkler of their own personal touch, I'll see it

1:38 They flubbed their lines. Rue meant "stack of Johnny cakes" but she said "steak".. Bea starts to say "...tell the damn story..." but she stops and says "tell the... finish the damn story!"
