I was pretty much smiling through this whole scene. From their antagonistic banter at the start of the phone convo to the kiss at the end. Plus I can totally see in my head how after Peggy said the first "I love you", Stan tossed his phone aside and booked it to her office. The mental visual of him running through the halls is just adorable.
The line that gets me is when she says, "I do, all the time, because you're there...and you're here." When she holds her hand to her heart I just want to cry. It's so romantic
This could have been such a cringe-worthy saccharine moment. But they pulled it off beautifully. I think the sad, pragmatic tendencies of most characters on this show made us feel that a fairy-tale ending like this was not possible. This works because Mad Men isn't a rom-com. We've had multiple seasons of these characters building a relationship with each other. It was never a will they/won't they tease like we see so often. It was a believable intimacy that they built through years of friendship.
I have watched this scene so many times and I still never tire of it. I love seeing Peggy get her happy ending with a man who supports her and treats her like the brilliant woman she is.
Hate myself for commenting AGAIN but also: they represent how, in next generation, you don't have to be the most handsome, most beautiful, or most stylish to be the next greats. Talent, hard work, and inclusion was finally starting to matter. These two represented the new era for MadMen's very limited time.
Also love how she places the receiver against herself to shield the sound, like "don't want the client to hear this" when the "client" would be the man right in front of her. XD
I love how he arrives, tries to hide he's out of breath and tries to be all cool "you were saying?"...it's 1000x more endearing than any Don Draper perfect-man entrance. Love these two: both masters of their crafts, good hearts and good friends, who finally realize they love each other.
"There's so much i know how to do. So much more than all of you" Darren - actor, singer, songwriter, multiinstrumentalist, polyglot and an amazing human being - speaks the truth.
I feel like someone always purposely just dislikes videos with Darren in just so someone can comment thanks Hermione. I mean what other reason could they have. He’s perfect!
