I am commenting late in the game, but this is a lesson for the pilot. We do not hear any instructions on how the piolt should hamdle the glider to make turns and hit the spot!
If you had held that flare in the first flight, you would have just parachuted right down on the bullseye. I got my H1 in 1986 in AZ. In '89 was an H4 and a certified USHGA instructor.
Doesn't look to me like the glider wanted to turn right or you favoring left side. When you try to put your weight to the left, your feet and legs swing to the right. When shifting your weight, try to pivot your torso to the side in stead of pulling your head and shoulders to the side like you do, you will get much better results.
I was about to make a comment like "why would you leave that ridge and land? Are you crazy?" but now I see it was just the video that's short, not the flight. Makes much more sense that way!
When I was living in CA (and more than a decade before I started hang gliding) I remember looking at lake Tahoe and surroundings from a "potential pilot'S perspective" and thought to myself: you wouldn't want to have to perform an outlanding here... Which brings me to my question: do people go cross country from Slide ? Great footage, thanks for sharing !
Don't worry this is about as scary as it gets. Taking off on bunny hills and landing again is the dangerous part. Once you get to soaring under cumulus clouds you'll love but even then be cairfall not to upset. You are a bug Compared to the forces of nature.

i think the biggest improvement i see in the new landing video that you linked over this landing video is that in the new one you put the wheels on. i love wheels
I have just booked my first lessons and these videos are inspirational to us prospective flyers. I look at this 5-year-old video and compare it those you posted 1 year ago and think "yes!, this is achievable"
that's too tight a turn close to ground, almost 180 degrees, we all learn from mistakes, glad that's not an expensive one. I crashed there once due to slow approach speed too
great place to learn, I tried at an unmown field with gopher holes in it, I was afraid to run fast over it and my wing couldn't lift my weight, tried a bunch of different days but gave up in the end and sold my glider :(
