Our neighbours for 34 years were Ugandan Asians. Our kids grew up together. We watched each other’s sons and daughters grow into adults. All doing nicely. They were, and still are a lovely family. If we could have brought them with us to live next door again, we would have.
Hi All that are in Chatsworth road now,and I talking about where I born,(1951,),born in Chatsworth Road, and my market was great, change now,but that's life,
The corner shop in the beginning, still owned by my father and my family still live there. So all is not lost. I’m going to make sure my family stays there as long as they can.
The little boy in the coat on the plane stairway tugs at my heart. Wonder where he is now. Very proud of these very brave n courageous people who lost everything but still perservered.
I was 8 years old and one of those cold boys that arrived in a strange new country .and yes after a long hard struggle my family are all well off and our children are all professionals contributing to society
@@shoutout3651 Wow. Thanks for the reply. Makes my heart happy to know yr story. Thankfully we Indians work hard wherever we go. N have the courage to rise above adversity. Our ancestors came to South Africa from 1860 n luckily we were not uprooted like u guys but many of us lost our homes n land under apartheid. All the best to u n yr family. 🙏❤
I sense that most of Ugandans r happy with idi amins decision to expel Asians ND to be frank just so jealous of Asian community of their richness ND luxury in their own uganda compared to African ugandan didn't expected this from Ugandans in 70s Africans education skills were poor ND so did their growth ND whereas Asians had business skills ND even there Ugandans were lacking so how can a ugandan can successfully compete with them so obviously became rich leaving Africans Ugandans behind instead of learning those business technique from Asians they are just jealous Asians r rich ND they r not ND even today an African ugandan cannot compete with other nations bcoz of their education standards but Ugandans r not so concentrated for that improvement but instead they still today get jealous of them for one fucking time I would like African Ugandans to ask themselves whether they r competitive in today's world ND at that time instead of crying on their luxury... ND some bizarre people that this is the result of karma for treating Africans in bad way I didn't know when indians treated Africans as slaves or ruled there country by this logic of karma I don't how many western nations ND Caucasian should suffer for the atrocities they have done to black people stop bulshitting that it is karma ND justify the actions did by amin if it was really karma the reason then Ugandans should have succeeded ND their economy should be booming after Asian expulsion but what happened is quite Opposite ur taxes collection have drastically dropped by 65 percent within a decade nd it would be right thing to say that uganda got taste of karma for what imin did in their economic terms after their expulsion ... So stop crying on Asian success ND work hard Ugandans even western nations allow immigration like in this case Britain ND bcoz of Asians there is some contribution to economy ND given their part in developing Britain from scratch whereas Ugandans were given Asian business. Just like plucking a fruit from tree but still Ugandans not able to manage them ND now crying in comments section growup Ugandans
It's ironic how Ugandan Asians got treated as second class citizens in England when they treated black Ugandans like slaves in their own country. Neither of it is fair, but just interesting how life humbles you. Africans should and must take control of their land, natural resources and all sectors which will bring about prosperity for them.
Africans had no access to Capital by "Design"...that was and still is Social Engineering by the Puppeteers (Exploiters of Africans and their natural resources).
This woman wants to tell us that the "mighty" idi amin wanted to marry an Asian girl and couldn't? What a shap contrast...the so called dictator by the west is unable to marry an Asian girl who happens to live in Uganda????? Wow...
I see that there is not a single Ugandan Indian Muslim who has a beard without a moustache; quite unlike those who immigrated directly from Pakistan and Bangladesh to UK.
Indeed, they created an Economy which chiefly benefited themselves; and while also employing 3% of the population. This along with the elitist attitude of the Indians, I would also imagine, is what led to their expulsion.
