Hi all, My name is Filip Dael and Welcome to the RISE OF THE PHOENIX. This Channel is about making this car ready again to get back on the road and in the meantime chowing how i do things the easy and cheapest way, but with a very good outcome. I work with simple tools and doing the most on my own. Phoenix spend more then 30years inside and was never on the road again. Phoenix was the car from my grandfather and deserve to have a full mechanical restoration. Follow me on this restoration step by step and learn some tricks and tips on the way.
Thank you my friend. I’m glad that it worked out this way. Common sense and normal tools can get you far doing this kind of work. I would love to come to your place my friend, my wife wants to see new York in her lifetime. So sometime, someday 😃😃
Thank you Joe, this is just a video I filmed before I got the operations. I don’t have much footage for many videos, because I don’t have the videos off the reassembly.
@@VWBEETLEOVAL1955 yeah I know that buddy, maybe you could start doing shorts from all your old stuff, one or two videos a week, that could suit your situation for the moment, until you get back on your feet 🤙

Miss seeing you my friend! Happy to see an update. Heal up very well and get back to good health. Can’t wait to see your updates! Much love to both of you!!!
Great to hear from you again sir. The other day was thinking about you and how we haven’t seen you for a while. I hope you recuperate from all those ailments as soon as possible.
Hi sir, I’m very sorry for my late response. To open the case I didn’t had any trouble. Make sure you listen all the bolts and don’t jam a screwdriver between the cases. Use a rubber mallet to open up the case. Make sure that the noise is off and after that it separates pretty easily. If you have more questions you always can send me a pm. You can find me as Filip Dael on fb. I hope I could help you with this.
@@jshippey NOS parts are the best quality you can get. Take your time and don’t rush it putting it back together. Unfortunately I did lose the video shots off the shafts but the rest is all explain . I hope my video will help you out.
Hello Fernando and I’m sorry for my super late response. I’m at the hospital for the moment for a new hip. In the near future I will bring more content to the channel. I am very happy to hear that you love my videos and that’s what’s all about. I thank you for following me and I will be back in several months.
I’m so sorry for this late response, But I am at the hospital for a new hip. In the future I will make more videos on a lot off topics and this will be one off them. Thank you for your interest in my videos.
Thnx for the comment. Yeah I have gloves but I have to feel if I weld it flat. So gloves would not help me with this type of welding. And I close my eyes before I weld. For the future I will use an automatic one. Thnx for the comment
Sorry for the very late answer, it’s hospital in and out for the moment with family. And yes your right, they have to be turned two turns in after they touch the valve stam. I will correct that in the future. Thnx for the heads up.
Hello, sorry for the late answer, but I’m operated at my knee know. Healing from that for the moment. I had to see the advisor first to see if I could post videos. And it’s a go from him. First I will make a head up video and then I will post the next video off the oval. Thank you very much for the support 👍👍👍
Thank you very much for watching 👍 It’s a time consuming thing to make video’s but the support makes it worth it. I do everything what the doctor said to heal faster.
Great idea in concept, but you are still having to muscle a engine UP off the floor at least 8”(sorry I don’t know the cm equivalent) to get it mounted on the rig. How is that easier? Maybe you are assuming engines are always going to be on carts? If you would have spread the front legs out further so the fixture would go to ground level, it would accomplish your goal of 0 lifting. I know you want to use the bell housing, but why not build a pipe within a pipe mount(like a traditional VW/Porsche bench mount engine stand) for it? That way you can do the rotation for engine assembly. It won’t be hydraulic, but if you make it strong enough and with either multiple pin holes or a set screw mechanism, you will be able to rotate it and stop it where you want. I appreciate your “dead reckoning” engineering style as imprecise and un-German as it is…it does work!😂 Best of luck with the back as I have been there in 2011. Glad you had the surgery as all waiting does is cause permanent nerve damage😢. Best of luck, and see if you can find a copy of the VW book that went out to dealers called “Workshop of local manufacture” or something like that. It has fantastic solutions for many tools the factory suggested for dealerships that they did not sell, but have measured drawings of. I think there is a PDF of it on TheSamba.com. <EDIT> Found it😊 www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/local_manufacture.php
Thank you for the advice for the engine lifter, but everything is set in my mind to make everything for easy working with engines. This whole setup is for engines to do little work on it. To open up engines and trow them back together, therefore is an other idea for that. A dual use that will be explained later. Yeah the surgery was needed badly and now time to heal. Thank you very much for the support and comment sir👍👍
@@VWBEETLEOVAL1955 No problem. Best of health and I look forward to seeing more of your ‘55. I hope to someday have an oval or earlier. For now I have a few projects that are ‘62-‘67(busses). I appreciate the motivation you and others provide here on RU-vid.
That’s the main reason to post videos so everyone could learn from it, even me😃 Never too old to learn. It takes so much time to make videos, but it for a good cause. The oval getting up in prizes now these days. Well my wife would not be happy to have now a bus on the driveway lol, but she likes them a lot. Maybe one day. I hope your projects going well?
I sure hope your better soon! I hate those scammers, as much effort they give into scamming they could get a job. 😢 We will all wait, you have a great channel 😊
Thank you heather for the kind words and will come back with more video’s, ill promise 🤞🏻 Yeah it’s a whole network and comes in every sort off stuff that is very wanted. To bad fb is doing nothing about them😞
Thank you Annie, I really appreciate it. I have more time now to look to your beautiful beetle that you are restoring. And I will be back with more video’s and a surprise of course 😃
Thanks mate for the support. same deal here for a lot of years, but the last 4 years where up and down until the last few months. Luckily they didn’t took the whole disc out, only that bit that was pushed into the nerves. Now time to heal😃😃
Hi, Filip sadly to hear about your Back issues A Hernia is not nice my friend I was wondering why you were no longer present with new updates about your wonderful VW Beetle Oval. But now we know you can give us a message, I wish you a recovery soon and the VW Beetle will not go anywhere,so take your time and get well soon. With the best wishes from Hubertus🇳🇴🇳🇱☮🙏🏻🇧🇪
Thank you Hubertus, it’s mean a lot. Yeah it’s no fun when you want do to do stuff but can’t do it. It’s for the better and I hope in the future that this pain will be gone. A sleeping leg is not funny and now the nerve can heal. Thank you for the support Hubertus and you will hear soon from me again on RU-vid 👍👍👍
Your health come before car hobbies! We’ll all be here when you get back in the garage. Take your time and heal properly my friend! Scams everywhere. Sadly this has become a new thing that’s hitting our community. I’m sorry this happened to you. Please rest well and do what the doctor recommends so you get back in the shop and feel much better. Peace ✌🏻
Thank you Tony for the support brother. It’s hard to sit still, but I have to. Otherwise I can be at home for a long time. The mind wants to and the body is telling me differently. Well after a while you don’t think you will be scammed, but you always have to be aware of them. Learned my lesson and looking out now before I buy something. The VW community is bigger then that and I’m glad that I’m part off it👍👍👍
Thank you for the update video, your priority right now is healing. The car and your viewers will certainly be there when you are ready. I remember a wise person always saying "it stays a hobby".
Last week, drying off, something happened, and I could not even walk. Just froze there. Being active men, it's really annoying not being able to move and work on what we want to. I had "vw bus" event coming up and tons of stuff to get done on the vanagon (T3). I recovered some and started working again, much slower and stopped much sooner. Wish they find the issue and you make 100% recovery.
Yeah I feel you, I know what you are talking about. When you have to get up the stairs on your hands and feet because of the pain. Bin there yep. They have taken the problem away. A little piece of the hernia that was pushing into the nerves. A 100% will never be the case, because the damage is made true the years. But we will get back on our feet to do some work👍👍👍
Your health is the most important thing, the beetle and we can wait until you’re feeling better. Don’t push yourself and make the recovery even longer. The scammers are everywhere and it’s so hard to trust anyone anymore when buying parts. Sad that they have made their way into the VW community. Keep your chin up my friend and count your blessings.
I have to listen to my body that’s right, I learned the hard way. Ask me how I know that 😞. But learn my lesson now lol. It’s to bad that we have those scammers in the VW world and they have free game. Thank you for the support 👍👍👍
We were definitely missing you, sir. Wishing you a quick and great recovery. Take care of yourself and the car will follow; the work was coming out beautifully. In the US Mike Fn is finishing his ‘54 and it is coming along spectacularly.
Thank you very much. It’s hard to stay still when the mind is there but the body can’t follow. But have to get my priorities straight and heal first. I follow Mike fn to and he is doing a great job at it👍👍
More content will follow in the future, but first my healing process. I’m maybe getting older and have some healthy issues but I always recover from it. Thank you for the support 👍👍
