Hello everyone. I'm recording acoustic drums for many reasons. The first one is to obtain the sound that I want without the intervention of anybody else. The second is to show what I can do on drums with the music that I want to play, or no music at all. And the last reason why I care about this RU-vid channel is for fun obviously, but also to share my own experience and view point on this instrument that I love so much. The traditional grip? I love it!
I do like Van Helen, I didn't know that song. I'm listening to it right now, those fast single stroke would be hard to do with traditional, I would be using the matched grip for this. There is a lot of stuff going on, including the ride and double bass drum. Seem like I would need to learn it exactly the same and practising a lot to be comfortable, which I'm not willing to do. I'm sure you can find another drummer who can do it or probably already done it. My approach is more around my own playing and using the traditional grip, I'm not willing to learn Hot For Teacher for example, which is a crazy song on drums. It's not the kind of music I love to listen to anyway and to learn it, I would have to listen to it a lot and playing it a lot, which I'm not willing to do at all. I want to play music I love to listen to and not too hard so I can create my stuff without putting hours of work.
@@joanmarcpino Thanks, I think it could be better but I'm not going to delete and redoing it. Thank you for your comment. I love to present a performance that is true, which mean I do 1 take and that's it. Have a great day or evening!
I like this song, but even in concert, Chester is using using acoustic drums, but the sound is always electronic triggered, so not sure what they are using in Berlin really live. Also in other concerts like (live in Tokyo 1990) Phil Collins on piano on this song.
Kit sounds VERY good..! And nice "phrasing" with those eighth note tom-tom insertions - very "Phil-Collins-like" I perceive it ( as a drummer myself ). Keep up the great work - and great song choice - pal 👍🏻
You make me realized I should share a video about my gears. Everything is HHX Evolution, the crash on the right is a 16 inches Sabian Evolution, middle Splashes 7"/10" Evo, on the left there is a Ride 20" Evo, 17" Crash Evo and 18" O-Zone. Thank you for commenting under a solo!
You are laughing but back in 2009, I was matched grip and teaching drums, I didn't have all those microphones but I could record with the mic on a camera. I did get 123 000 views for Duality of Slikpnot, I did the video for students challenging me of course, which was unexpected, but also I discovered my identity, I don't want to be relate to anything around metal music. That's why you see a rock drummer playing pop music with a traditional grip, but I try to put dynamics and to sound like me.
