I would've liked it more ir you didint butcher the names. Darujhistan isnt pronounced Daruhistan, Capustan isnt pronounced Capusten, Ganoes isnt another version of Genoa.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it, please let me know if there is something you think that could be improved. I plan on finishing it, but each book takes a while so it will probably take some time.
Huge help for the refresher before i jump into 'midnight tides' after a nearly two year break. Thank you. Also appreciated the fixed background for the video
Thank you so much for doing these! I’m almost done with memories of ice and I’m already forgetting much of the first half of the book. Great to listen to this before wrapping up the couple hundred pages
Hey man, awesome video. I actually like the long form for your summaries. I wish there were more of these. Though, I guess if others feel they are too long you could split them up into two separate videos. Either way, I enjoy the long form. I can only speak for myself, but when I’m trying to recap myself on a book that I read, a quick 10 minute video or a 2 page synopsis just doesn’t cut it for me. Long form summary videos like this are gold because you can spend time brushing up on a story, without having tons of info left out of the summary. Not that a video should replace a reread, but sometimes it is nice when taking a break from a series to have something like this to prime you before jumping back in. And not everyone has the time for rereads, because.. well because life gets in the way. Anyways, keep these things coming and let me know when or if you have a Patreon; I would love to subscribe to it and send donations your way just to see more of this content. Also..I saw you have already started doing Malazan Summaries, as well as this being your first WoT one. All you need to do is add Cosmere book summaries in here and your RU-vid will start blowing up in the booktube community. Okay I’m done now, awesome job my guy. 👌🏼
Don't give up! It's worth it. Don't feel like you need to understand every little thing, I'm on my first reread of Deadhouse Gates and there is SO MUCH that I didn't get the first time that is perfectly clear now. The series just gets better and better but I suppose it's just not for everyone.
@@dookieshoe2905 I see everyone's reviews and I wanna feel the way they do about the series. Maybe I'll might get back to it , I still own all ten books, I really thought I was going love it lol
@@PoorPersonsBookReviewer yeah, I know that feeling too. Wanting to enjoy a series as much as everyone else but I just don't get it. It's OK if you don't enjoy Malazan, if you really aren't enjoying it then it might not be for you. I remember my first time reading Deadhouse Gates I couldn't put it down, I was riveted. If you don't feel that way then it might not get any better as you go forward. All I know is that for me personally, it was an incredible story with a mind blowing ending.
I have to admit that this one ended up being a bit too long. I'll see if I can make it shorter in the future. I would like to ask people for feedback on the reading. Especially the pronunciation of characters/places. If you notice anything, please write it down below with the correct pronunciation and I'll try to add it in the future.
Wonderful recap & attention to detail. I will be frothing at the mouth for a Midnight Tides recap now. Best wishes to those involved & thanks for the effort to bring this amazing series to new readers. Much love from Scotland.
Hello! Thanks for your comment. Sorry for the late reply. I've been using summaries made by the books community, but I haven't found any good ones for the next books, been looking though. I don't have time to write them all myself so this is my only option. Will try and continue the series if I can!
It this summarized and read by yourself? I'm insterested partly bacause of all the AI stuff going on and because I hear some of the words seem weirdly cut-off in pronounciation. Regardsless of the question, thanks a lot for the recap :)
Thanks for your comment! The summary comes from the fan wiki and is not made by me although I do quite a few changes when needed. It's read by an AI and that is what is causing the pronunciation issues at times. It's a fairly new project and idea so I am still working out how I can do it best. Doing everything manually would be great but as this is a bit of a smaller side project for me I can't put in that much time sadly. I am glad it was helpful, as an avid reader myself I am hoping to bring more and better content in the future! Constructive critisism is welcome :)
@@RecapHaven1 so cool! I think the AI voice is pretty good, especially for a recap where your just wanna remember what happened! Cool project, it's a really good idea and really relevant for people like me who read Malazan where a lot of stuff happens. I also think it's nice you get the recap from a fanpage, since I think a longer recap from a more automated source like chap GPT would be littered with small errors. One think you COULD do though was to try and feed chat GPT the recap and ask it to rephrase it a thad more dramatically with regards to style only, but to keep the story and all the details prepresented faithfully.
@@RecapHaven1All I’m saying is that all the AI voices on so many channels ruin the cadence of what you’re trying to say. Usually is because the guy running the channel has an Indian accent and uses AI instead so it’s more easy to listen to and understand. But if it’s a matter of you being self conscious about your voice, nobody cares about that. I have a deep voice with an easy to follow accent, so I guess it’s easy for me to say. Still, we’d prefer your actual voice unless your accent is way too strong, don’t worry about what other people say. Just be you. We already have way too many people using wiki explanations and AI ones, don’t be like the rest. Authentic is WAY better. If any of this came across as insulting, I promise it wasn’t. I appreciate you giving a good synopsis so we don’t have to spend 20 hours going through something we’ve read already. I just genuinely meant to be different by being yourself.
@@thebadaids @thebadaids That's fair! I'm not the greatest fan of AI voices either and wouldn't really mind reading it myself, But, that would probably take about 20 times as long if not more. So my choice to use AI basically comes down to a time constraint. I started this channel because I didn't find many channels that did recaps of books in this way. If you know any, could you point me in the direction of some? Might be useful information going forward.
@@RecapHaven1 why would It take 20 times longer? If you’re just copy and pasting Wiki’s and then changing the script a tiny bit to run off of an AI voice, I don’t see the logic between it being that much longer recording your voice reading off the wiki or a book synopsis. You must know something I don’t. I know everyone online tries not be a know it all and negative, I’m not though
Thank you for these, I love this series and have one book left but it's been over a decade since I read the previous one. These are brilliant to bring me up to date. Will you be doing the whole series?
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the comment. I plan to finish the series and do other ones as well. It might take a while but I will do the whole series if I can. Sorry for the slow response, it's a fairly new project for me and I have been unable to be very active as of yet., but onwards and upwards!
Wow, great emotionally compelling work here. This was a very detailed summary that will be a very good resource for new readers. Keep up the good work, it's appreciated out here in the world.
