Family Adventures in Travel & History... Oh, and Food.
We're a family from Minnesota that loves travel and history (AKA Time Travel) - exploring MN, the US, and beyond. Our hope is to inspire people and families with real-life budgets to create their own adventures... and to have a lot of fun and laughs along the way.
"Is it a copy of a real thing?" Perhaps a good moment to introduce Theseus's Paradox? No, it is indeed "the real thing" :-) That thing sailed out on the water visible from the museum, all be it briefly, in 1628. We all do fail from time to time, but if you fail so humiliatingly hard, that you later can build a museum about it... why not? :-)

Hi. Thanks for the knowledge you share. I’d like to simulate on the BlackMagic app Cam the product showcase mode that the Sony ZV-1 camera has. Is it possible? Best
Thank you so much for this solution now when I delete my clips it does free up space. But still it seems that I can’t free up my « system data » that previously deleted footage on the Blackmagic app already used. Did you manage to delete yours? And how?
So the only way I found to kinda worked for that is to switch over to the iPhone Camera App, make sure settings are set to 4k ProRes (or whatever is the highest bitrate), and just hit record until you get pretty close to full on storage. Then when you stop and go to record again, there should be a button that pops up that says free up space. It usually only pops up when there's 10 minutes or less of space (it's unpredictable). Click on that and it should free up some of that system data. Then I'd record again for a couple of minutes and repeat the process... making sure to leave keep storage pretty full. After a few times I'd go back to storage settings and see if it freed up the system data. Sometimes even just switching settings back and forth between 4k30 and 1080p60 forced that button to show up. And that's the whole idea - getting that free up space button to show up. Once I did that enough, the system data slowly goes all the way down, and then I would go into the Photos/Gallery App and delete all of those videos, and then clear them from Recently Deleted within the Photos/Gallery app. Super clunky I know, but if you can keep getting that button to pop up in the Camera App, it will eventually clear all the system data.
Hey thank for the tip about freeing up space. What adapter do you use and how to you power up an external drive and iPhone to move the media from iPhone to drive?
For our iPhone 14 Pro (lightning port) we used the USB camera adapter. www.apple.com/shop/product/MK0W2AM/A/lightning-to-usb-3-camera-adapter If you have USB C, you'd need something like their multi port adapter that has 2 USB ports.
You walk away so he won’t be nervous, but now you are, because someone else might also approach the bathroom and you need to decide on a way to take him out so you don’t lose your turn!!!!!
Two years after the Union of Utrecht, indeed a breaktrough document, in 1581 the Dutch declared the Spanish king had become a tyrant by trampling on the people's inalienable rights and failed to serve the people but rather held them in slavery, and therefore had left his legitimate throne of the Netherlands through his actions. This was the Dutch DOI and the country became fully independent then, centuries before 1813 in the form of the Dutch Republic when both independence, a nation state and a republic weren't really a thing. That was even a bigger inspiration to the founding fathers, while they had to do some straightening out of the freedom of religion because for the Dutch Republic it had been very much about freedom of conscience, the public practicing of religion was a matter of public order up to the local administrations. This often resulted in catholics being openly catholic but having church masses inside homes and catholic churches not being allowed because the cathollic church was still out for the destruction of protestants. The jews who by the nature of their religion didn't pose such a threat were allowed to build the biggest synagogue in the world. Full equality for the catholics only came in the 1840's and the outlawing of processions, a symbol of the catholic church ruling public life, was only scrapped from the constitution in 1983. Freedom of thought and print flourished too though and for example Descartes and John Locke wrote their important works here. Descartes even served in the Dutch army and Locke was brought over by stadtholder William III after as commander of the Dutch army had invaded and occupied England to help him sort out the UK's parliamentary monarchy, Bill of Rights after which he took the throne and ruled as king William III of England, Scotland and Ireland while keeping the office of stadtholder of the Dutch Republic, a job he was appointed in by Dutch parliament. It was almost entirely the Dutch that put the 'modern' in 'the early modern era'. Anne Frank hardly fits in in this. The Nazi persecution of the jews was not religious persecution but racial persecution. People who didn't know they were jewish but the Nazis found out they were up to 1/8 jewish were called up for transport, a nun was arrested from her monastery for having jewish blood. Their religious gatherings were just one of the many limitations the jews suffered before and during the transports to the East, the Nazi weren't particularly bothered with judaïsm relatively.
What else did we miss? We didn’t get to the Van Gogh Museum because it was the last week of the Pokemon exhibit and completely booked. Next time we’ll book ahead! 😂 We’ve got more a few more European destinations still to come. Thanks for watching!
Hi guys! Such great videos. My wife and I are trying to plan our trip this summer to Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Brussels with our 12 year old twins and love all the ideas you guys gave. If you don’t mind my asking, where did you all stay in Amsterdam?
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! You're going to love your trip... especially in the summer :) We stayed about 15 minutes outside the city center by the Sloterdijk Train Station... XO Hotels Park West. Decent place right next to a tram stop. It was significantly cheaper than staying in the city center and we got a free taxi ride from the airport from booking.com (not sponsored).
