I've watched many of these demonstration videos, but this one seems to capture the essence better than many of the other, more "polished", i.e. stiffly rehearsed, versions. I like yours best!
Dear Sirs, thank you for this. I have a 40 year history of heroin addiction, and for the first time I feel the freedom of 3 years of sobriety. What you have presented is EXACTLY what works for me. The clinic I am involved with presented this general recovery theory to me and for the very first time I am starting to feel and believe that I can live without using an opiate to numb my pain and problems. I could not totally align with AA/NA precepts and resisted the platitude delivery style. I respect so much what your video entails and how you are presenting it. I would love to be a person involved in a formal program to teach others the skills that actually work. I believe that being as present as possible, practicing Non Violent Communication, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and learning to do sittings/meditation are the solid core of my sobriety today. I am amazed that I am not seeing comments on your site. You guys are doing the work that actually encourages real change in humans who are struggling. Are you looking for people to employ at your facility who believe as you do that this is a real answer?
eSym, I am sending you this link because this book will save lives. www.amazon.com/Faith-Knowing-Shawn-Blaney-ebook/dp/B094QDFX77/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Faith+%26+Knowing&qid=1622215994&s=digital-text&sr=1-1
Reflective listening is so important. It really helps clients feel heard and acknowledged. Often, people argue because they feel unheard and dismissed. Nice demonstration.
For people actively working on building their MI skills I highly recommend the Building Motivational Interviewing Skills: A Practitioner Workbooks Second Edition by Rosengren
