6:36 underlines the entire problem with the Christian god. He is supposedly omniscient. That means he KNOWS everything. Yet he regrets making man? He knew what would happen when he made us. That’s what omniscient means. All-knowing. That includes any transcendence of time or space. He knows all according to his own book and followers. But he didn’t regret making man until the last minute? Lol that’s called a contradiction folks. If he is not omniscient, he’s not a god. If he is omniscient, he’s still an idiot for punishing humans for what HE knew would happen. It’s like putting your teenage kid in a room with a lit match and a pile of firecrackers. You know they’re gonna light them up, but you punish them anyway. Not just punish in gods case, exterminates. Bhri do you really care about truth? * the only reliable way to know truth is evidence. * we don't have sufficient evidence proving Allah exists. * so we don't know it's true. So because the Quran makes claims which aren't supported by reality, we can't just blindly believe whatever it says (blindly believing a single book isn't how we reliably know truth. _Evidence_ is how we reliably know truth!). So if you really care about truth -- and you really want to avoid being misled by bad ideas or falsehoods -- then you should stop believing in the Quran's claims. At least unless you can find evidence, but that seems unlikely. No believer I've ever spoken to has strong, logical evidence of a god.

A lot of people attribute the New Atheism Boom to the 4 horsemen (Dawkins, Dennet, Hitchens, and Harris) and yes... once the boom got to RU-vid, it did take off. However, Bill Maher got there first with "Religulous". For DECADES the Atheists have been cowering before their Christian overlords, living their Atheistic lives in secrecy, or maybe using a word that is now synonymous with apathy and cowardice... "Agnostic". Not that one shouldn't be "agnostic". I AM agnostic... AND Atheist. But when I was growing up, "agnostic" was just the word that ATHEISTS used to say, "I don't believe in God... please don't be mean to me". Hey Bill, I've actually read that book at least a dozen times, and it gets better each time I read it. It is the 2nd best book I've ever read. The Bible being the G.O.A.T. Books, that is. I've been a Christian for over 50 years and never have I ever regretted living for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nor will I ever.
Good for you. As for me, God seems to be an absolute unjust and unfair being. He can put rapists and murders in heaven, if they repent & accept Jesus on their death bed. But will put the woman in hell, for losing her faith in him when he didn't do anything to stop those rapist. Or how God and Jesus are the same being and he knew that he would come back from the dead, and yet we are to take his sacrifice seriously? Soldiers in the Army, put their lives in danger, knowing that they are mortals, even though they have families. They go through much worse torture than Jesus (who is actually God) can ever go through. Shouldn't we worship these mortals?

Laugh if you want, but this book actually helped save Michael Phelps from commiting suicide! If any book can do that, it's gotta be worth reading! It's easy to pick this book apart. I personally wouldn't scoff at the purpose driven life, unless you've read it from cover to cover. My question here for you is this : What is your relationship with the God of your understanding? If you don't have one, read this book from end to end, then let me know what you think.
I found this really interesting. As a Christian I understand what Rick Warren is saying, and it always makes sense, but it is highly poetic and imaginative. Its goal is not to be taken literally, but to help people understand their lives while keeping the centrality of Jesus unhindered. Somehow Bill Maher has reversed the whole thing into comedy which also makes sense and is funny. By taking it so literally, the poetry and imagination fall away and the text neither makes sense nor is helpful. But what ideas would Bill Maher provide, and how would he write about them, if he wanted to give us a book which persuaded people that their lives DO HAVE A PURPOSE? I think he is completely incapable of writing such a book. Ultimately I think that he has come to the conclusion that THERE IS NO PURPOSE TO LIFE, and that any contrary opinion is foolish and funny. The contrast in how life is to be led and understood could hardly be more complete. A comedian who's life appears to be completely without purpose. And a Christian author whose life centers around exploring and explaining Jesus to others. Take your pick.
I honestly found your comment interesting. But why do you think Bill's life is without purpose? Did he say even once that he has no purpose for his life? Or life in general? If he did I'd like to see that. He is an agnostic atheist... so he thinks openly about purpose, not neccessarily being just only one thing, only one god, only one religion.
