I have always set ‘Velvia’ across the board. As I have always set RAF and JPG, I always edit my photos in RAF and use JPG as a backup. However, last time I also compared my edited photos and the JPGs - conclusion, you don't have to edit every image.... With BW, the monochrome view helps me to select the ‘right’ scenario, here you have to think in contrasts and I find that more difficult in the colour viewfinder.
The best way to use film simulations, is to practice with them. If I’m using a new film stock, idk how it will work until I develop the film, and learn how it works. You’re not gonna get the SOOC experience if you’re just picking a random one with every shot
None of those film simulations look like film.. so sorry about that.. that digital rendition of velvia, provia is not the same as the real thing.. the acros came in close
It’s the problem of this generation. People have the fear of missing something. Take the picture and learn doing better. I don’t get it. Think before you click that button. It is art. It is not oh maybe I can do this and here and there… delete photoshop. I heard a rumor that photographers before the digital camera were the unhappiest people alive because they could not edit the images after they took it. kiddies are fomos. They mess up their whole life just by not committing to something. Digital cameras should only be allowed to 30+ people.
Great video !!! Thanks !!! I use a X100 T, classic chrome most of the time, I do street photography and things happen so fast that I have no time for changing film simulations.
Cool, I do that a lot for family-pictures.. Playing with dmthe DR-settings makes the pictures really usable and put the noise reduction to -4 makes the pictures the sharpest, bec they get soft woth the normal setting .
I've been using tuned filmed simulations on my Nikon D7200 for quite a while now as it saves editing time and file sizes when I'm doing events and makes uploading and processing for clients real easy.
I'll tell you this.. the LUTS on the Panasonic S9, are truly...and I mean truly.. SOOC, no editing needed !!! The way the Lumix Lab app works, it makes the whole experience of getting simulations / LUTS onto the camera, a breeze. It also allows you to tweak the settings of it, on the phone, and share it w/ others, and even add grain, and even STACK luts, to create your own hybrid lut of sorts. Every major camera company will copy their system. Guaranteed. Before anybody goes crazy, I am also an X-T5 owner and shooter, but I still always need to give some work to the images in post. Not much, but..always. I have yet to do that on the S9.
Idk, personally I find the way that system is implemented is very confusing and not an enjoyable process. My hope is that cameras get more and more functionality, and allow you to go more in depth with image control, but I don’t like the way they did it in the s9
As someone who actually owns the S9, I never…not once, found the Lunix Lab App or lut system to be difficult or confusing. Not once. It’s actually seamless and very fast. A whole lot faster than storing and saving simulations in a Fuji lol. I also can save 33 more luts than a Fuji can. Aside from all that, I think you’d be hard pressed to find any S9 owners on RU-vid, that say the system or process is difficult or confusing. Every Panasonic shooter knows this is a game changer, and many owners can’t WAIT for the opportunity for the Lunix Lab to be available for their cameras.
The film simulations are awesome, but I want a little more character or style. Which is why I love film recipes. Especially Fuji X Weekly. Also, Fuji X Raw Studio is such a cool software, and why I choose to shoot in jpeg and raw. You can use other film simulations on your RAW files, just like you can do in camera, but on your computer. Currently experimenting to try and develop my own recipe that captures my style so I can shoot and be happy with the jpegs in camera. 😊
Really great examples as you moved through. That hat looked amazing. Great catch on the guy with the white outfit, too. I'm a sucker for typewriter pics.
As I answered an other Comment its just way to expensive. Filmlooks are easily archivable in LR or Davinci Resolve. You better off spending that money for dehancer on some good LR analog Preset or a Course to learn how to edit imo. Or even save and buy a Fuji with Filmsims:) and yes I still photograph analog and think its easily doable do archive this look on every camera. For creating presets I often use Side by Side Shots from different cameras or my phone and real film shots. :)
Dehancer unlimited license is 449€. Under my dead body :) This is Leica prices, disproportionate to say the least. Love your videos. So natural/fresh/truthful!! (Sorry if I cannot stop saying that)
Price is just way too high. its really easy to edit Photos in Lightroom to get the Filmlook, despite which camera they where shot with. Same with Video, it's super easy to do with the free version of Davinci. Also it looks way better than with dehancer and you have way more control over everything. Not a big Fan of these Apps that claim to give the Film look, 95% are pretty shitty and just worsen the quality of the photo or video. Also they are very expensive than a LR Subriction or Even than Davinci Studio.
I shoot jpeg+raw, but I'm really only holding onto the raw just in case. I don't have the time (thanks to two young kids), nor do I want, to sit in from of Lightroom/C1 and edit photos for hours on end. I share most of my images with family/friends straight from the camera, and find myself using Acros+G and Classic Chrome the most (but I do like Classic and Nostalgic Neg too). It's what made me buy into Fuji when I came back to photography a few months ago. I hired a Sony first and whilst it's a very impressive system, it felt a bit soulless to me, and I also felt I had to tweak every shot to get it how I liked it. The Fuji for me makes taking photos fun again, especially with the film sims. Having to edit for hours afterwards would soon erode that fun.
I love the straight out of cam shooting. I like editing before I shoot. That is a real challenge to me atm. I shoot mostly classic neg, chrome, and acros only JPEG atm unless its for a more formal style of shoot.. but if you're walking around shifting between multiple film sims it can get messy, so having like two or three locked in and understood is a good JPEG workflow. Post production on my Sony often made me feel disconnected from the photos and moments.
Yea I also usually keep to one or two film sims per shoot. Can definitely understand what you mean with the post production aspect. It can make the photo feel unauthentic sometimes in my opinion.
@@LucaCaptures Für mich auf jeden Fall! Meine längsten "Schiffsreisen" waren die Fahrten zwischen Rügen und Bornholm bzw. Malmö sowie zwischen Warna und Nessebar. 😂 Viel Spaß in New York! 😃👍
I like your video I really want to buy it as a second camera 📷 because I have canon eos r5 but need a flash because I use at night 🌃 so how about this camera 📷 flash any good? Thanks
