The fact that this is a movie about male narcissistic abuse and its impact on young women and that this flew over the head of the actors is madness. The literal rape scene is not mentioned. The entirety of the movie is washed out as a regular coming of age female adolescence piece. This goes to show how a director's vision transcends the actors' core understanding of the human issues at stake, and how actors' biased perceptions of a story can be corrected through generic naturalistic acting.

So I’m not going to do the whole Matthew, Aubrey, thing because she’s apparently happy. But like....anyone else feeling like he doesn’t listen to her or respect her??!???? Or am I just wanting to see problems??
I'd really like to know what Aubrey sees in Jeff Baena. Of course I don't know him personally, but I've watched several interviews with him and he comes off as a total smug douche.
I'm sure you can contact him via his twitter account, he sounds quite active there. I also heard you can contact any filmmaker or their agent through IMDB platform. But you need to subscribe there. I would also try tweeting him, he talks a lot about how he's retweeting fans and stuff. Hope this was helpful

This movie, and the acting,the cinematic perfection + colar and light shots,the sun on their skin,the off center underwater camera catching her falling in, all was so correct and perfect. A masterwork.
I can’t believe I’m only finding out about this now. I’m from Dublin and saw cripple of inishmaan advertised outside a well known theatre here, but it must have been a different version, before vivid of course. Pat Shortt is a very talented guy. You see him here just chatting away and he seems normal, if you see his stand up comedy he can blow any famous comedian out of the water, he’s as mad as a hatter when he’s doing stand up. He spend most of the time in the audience often talking to them for most of the show.
