Thanks for the video brother, you save me a lot of head scratching and cussin! Once I finally found that cap I thought that was a dumbest place in the world to put a dipstick. Then I pulled it off and thought the dipstick done broke down in the transmission or the previous owner broke it off somehow and just stuck the cap back on. Sometimes I think engineers try to reach around their asshole to scratch their elbow!
One flaw in this method is that the temperature gauge is for the engine temp, not the transmission. Would be better to drive it for five minutes to avoid overfilling it.
Thx you, I will attempt this now 😢 smh 3yrs I’ve owned her and now the shift stick gets stuck on N… I knew it was transmission related but didn’t know it could just be fluid missing… 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Mine had been overfilled. I bought it from a reputable lot and got a great deal, but someone overfilled that transmission. Anyway, I was on the highway in 100° Heat, and about an hour out from home, the transmission started acting up. I hobbled it within 25 Mi of home, but it got so bad I had to pull into a parking lot... had it towed the rest of the way. When I opened the drain, it was about a gallon overfilled. I kid you not. I had bought some large plastic bowls from Goodwill to collect whatever came out. I needed all four of those bowls. After I drained it to a trickle, I took the car out and drove it a little ways. No problems so far. So the bottom line, your video might have saved me some mucho dollars. Thanks for taking the time, man.
Did you need to replace the transmission? And also did that fix that whining noise? That your car was making when you start it? Bcus I have that same noise in mine? That’s why I’m asking.
Thanks for the great video. My transmission started slipping this morning and I had no idea what to do. I don't even really understand what the transmission does. But I was able to figure out how to check and change the fluid thanks to you. I really like the uncomplicated DIY approach. So many how to videos incorporate tools and products that no regular person has.
Thanks for video. My 2015 Fusion SE has 289k miles on it. It's been really good to me obviously. Last night the transmission started slipping, reverse went out and the only way I got it home was for some reason, if I turned car off and back on it's like it would reset and drive fine for a few miles. I repeated a few times and got it home. Tried reverse and it moved forward a bit. Turned car back off and back on and it went into reverse fine. I don't know if fluid levels have anything to do with it, but we'll see. Thanks again!
Thanks for the info but, has anybody ever measured the fluid level after doing all this work with a wooden dowel or anything so that they don't have to go through all this crap a second time in the future just to check the fluid? After all, how hard would that be?
