In my channel, you'll find primarily videos about bird ringing and nest monitoring, but I also try to upload other nature-related videos. If you want to learn more about bird ringing in Bulgaria visit my blog: birdsbg.blogspot.com/
Ive got two robin eggs abandoned by mom after severe thunderstorms - I haven't been able to bring myself to get rid of the nest and the two unviable eggs yet- It's been 22 days in totality since I ran across the nest accidentally on July 4th - Was really looking forward to watching them .......🪺 👀 🪹😞
@@Britishbirdsnests if I recall correctly on second check I saw the female blackcap , but in my place I've found at least two blackcap nests at around 170-180 cm
@@Britishbirdsnests yeah all of the blackcaps that i finda are higher than 1m and some even more :? Maybe I'm not good at looking lower in the vegetation and this is the reason why I usually find only high nests 😁
ok, you can see the difference in the old feathers and the new, also in my country it is strictly forbidden to take pictures or record the eggs, it causes a lot of anxiety in the birds when this is done greeting....
@@kingserbiabgd1488 yes the bird had moult limit in the feathers :) it's the same in my country..only trained ornithologists with special permission (I have that permission) can handle wild birds and take photos and videos of them. Cheers
Thank you! I'm a bit sad that soon the nesting season will be over but I'll probably have more time to create a RB shrike egg compilation to compare the different color variations
Absolutely wonderful !!! Lost so so many in the U.K. Not so sure of our BTO numbers for this species this season?? Need to look for some published results..under the radar?
@@BirdRinginginBulgaria No D .. you misunderstand. (My fault) I have not found any in my lifetime.. When I read my response back, I completely see your point of view..What i was trying to get across was the low numbers of this species in the U.K.
@@thegeordierambler4373 Well, I'm considering inviting other nest finders in Bulgaria for future seasons to help me find more Corn buntings and other species
Cracking nest!! Lay eggs so various in markings ,, that nest is on the ground as in uk tho across Europe they can be well of the ground as can yellowhammer! Interesting to see how each environment differers .
Thank you Stephen! I had no idea that Corn bunting can nest of the ground but I'll have it in my during the next bird walk. This location is full of Corn bunting pairs ,but I think they are very shy and the nests are hard to find(for me).
@@Britishbirdsnests This one was by accident...The female flew out of the nest while I walking by and I managed to locate it in the grass. Two years ago I found one by watching back, but for me Corn bunting is a difficult species ..I need to gain more experience with it
@@Britishbirdsnests I'm sure that if you come to Bulgaria and search in my location you'll be able to find many more than me :D I'm really starting to think about visiting other bird nest finders (in other countries) to gain more experience.
Nice barred warbler, they do like to nest near shrikes ! , well in Poland n latvia anyway. They are a stunning bird if you can get a good veiw of the bird on the nest its like a mini sparrowhawk with that eye and slate gray back
@@BirdRinginginBulgaria sneaky but they sing and call near nest site ect they do nest quite low in thick vegetation alot or low bushes. I've never had lots of nests close , seem well spread, had them in villages, gardens , open areas In woodland and scrub. Rough unkempt land . Apps available for call detection id pressume .
@BirdRinginginBulgaria good luck to you..I had bluebird box on my fence and raccoons killed the mom and babies...learned the hard way not to put on fence or tree...now on a pole with predator guard...no problems since...
Lovely mate! Gotta love a warbler nest, still going my neck on the Sylvia's, had a good day with them yesterday, love that nest mate, well done and a great find
@@BirdRinginginBulgaria Yes! Very difficult with the nests this year. I have fingers crossed on 2 active as we speak…Great positions… but so many variables!! I would love to get the Linnet at the nest… so hard!!👍
@@BirdRinginginBulgaria Agree, and each day they change so rapidly. Shrike babies (and adults) are one of my favorites. Here in USA Gulf coast, we have Loggerhead Shrikes. Your RBs are lovely.
It's not on my hand :) I'm holding it in a special way called photographer grip. We are ringing those birds for scientific purposes and the taking photos before releasing them back into the wild
At 7.04 there's a subdued call of a warbler ! Looked very well marked for garden warbler , more like blyths reed warbler which are like marsh warbler eggs but the nest is stuffy like that , also barred warbler a possible but tend to have a grayish wash and nest adornments but early laying up ect they can have non . , interesting.
