Brother. Your knees are moving more than you shoulders. This isnt a shrug, its a chicken dance. Focus in a larger ROM and control the weight on the way down.
My Range of Motion here is maxed, I can't lift my shoulders any higher than this even without a bar in my hand. Can't see why you think this isn't tbh, and regards the knees I flex them on the descent to act as a shock absorber. Almost like if you were to jump from a height, you don't land with straight legs, the bend protects the knees and the arms also, which isn't necessary on light weight, but I'm currently training for 400kg, and it's best to get into good habits and practice correct safe techniques even on light weights.
Straps or no straps? Figure 8 straps are a must for me, they help so much. I find heavy obar shrugs 160kg+ can strain my back so I do high rep sets of 30 or so at 120kg, guess we need to do what we can for the pump 😂
Depends on the weight, I go up to 200-220kg without straps, but any heavier than that I need straps. Like yourself I use figure 8, I really like the normal ones, but they tend to snap on the heavier weights lol
Thor was toying with Eddie, and Ed took it seriously. Eddie won the title, Thor was a sore loser, even though he won the title literally a year later. Not to mention Thor decided to "break the world record" in the deadlift. Love him or hate him, Thor is the antagonist in this story, like it or not.
Still a strong guy and handsome too, in fact if you wanna do deadlifts you do a leg day squatting with light weights like 5 or 10 kg to build some not only muscle but maybe a bit of strength and when your legs are rested for a day or two do some heavy deadlifts for another leg day in the same week, it might not be a great idea but it's just a theory/idea that does make me think it might help make you stronger and have massively stronger legs😉
Yea that's a good idea my man, when I used to train legs 5 times a week I would often do that sort of thing, light one day heavy the next etc.. and it's deffo a way to get deadlifts and squat in togevs which I hadn't thought about. So good thinking! I could deffo implement this. Another way to go the other way and squat and deadlift on the same day (like how pro powerlifters would do) although that's mighty painful lol it keeps the pain all onto one day
Fantastic, so glad it's being used as it should! When I get round to it I'll be doing a couple of more with different Thai music. A bit of variety for you :)
I'm a 34 year old man, I also am going to order the cold steel city stick next week. Mainly for low profile self defense. Since I won't carry a gun 94 knife. This i feel is a proper self defense stick. Do you still like the city stick?
Was lucky enough to call him Coach at UCT, only heard of his passing today, the Greatest of all time!!! and besides powerlifting, true gentleman and caring person, we will miss you, Powerlifting team in early 2000's
Just did hack squats for the first time yesterday. Didn't bring my hips forward like Platz but did go down super low. Definitely feeling it today and much further up my quads than with a leg press machine.
Pugilism is a completely other Sport. Pugilists where masters of wrestling althoug. They knew everything about the Power lines. Modern boxer should have been beaten from them. No Chance a modern boxer could have against a old Scool pugilists.the pugilists could beat him up very heavy.
I used to have the original city stick with the stainless steel head and i sadly lost it. I bought the new version with aluminum and I'm also looking for head options. There's a company called purpleheart armory that sells a head but I'm not sure it would fit or not. I might even have my buddy turn me one made out of stainless.
The rest of the music represents the fray..... The buzzez represent every blow that could have been lethal.... The dance. We fear it but are in love with it.... We want it no matter how much we don't.

Woden did this to himself on purpose when he hung on the world tree. This is what gave him the freedom to travel worlds and understand his true self. Hence, Odin is the god of wisdom and travels, because it is shamanic. This is a blessing you have received, some something right out of the sagas! You are a true hero in your own unique way. I hope I go to Folkvangir, and perhaps we could wrestle in the fields? I have been watching your videos on Pagan death recently, and it reassures me that everything will be ok. I got the vibe and feeling of peace, acceptance, and nature. Death is oddly peaceful once we accept it and allow ourselves to heal. I never felt like I belonged to this world... Thank you for your insights and your incredible bravery of sharing your journey. I cannot imagine that this was an easy experience for you. It must have been hard... This is why your a warrior and chosen by Freyja, because of your connection and awareness. Your the right man for the job! Thank you for your insights and sharing your journey. Much love man...
Much appreciated matey 👍 Folkvangir is beautiful, a part of me didn't want to leave, I hope one day too you see it. The man who helped me recover spiritually after the crash, was one like me, except he saw death herself when he died. I'm not sure if I did a video on death or if I have, whether you've seen it, but she is truly one of the most empathetic of goddesses (an ancient one to be precise which are beings beyond the gods). But you needn't ever fear death, she only takes us when we are ready, and she is a mercy, a release from suffering, nothing more :)
Ron Collins passed away on his 90th birthday on 22 June 2024. He lived a long life and I hoped he paid attention to how much powerlifting has grown in recent times.
